"This is a year of firsts for me: first year teaching, first year in LISD, and first year living in Texas. I think LISD is an excellent place to build a career and a life for myself as that is my intention in coming here from Tulsa, Oklahoma."

Interesting bit above from perp's Texas school teaching bio about how LISD in Texas would be "an excellent place to build a career and a life.." And that was his stated intention. But he left (was asked/told to leave??) after just one school year. Doesn't seem like that was initially part of his plan. It seems like it's possible that his creep side came out and started to cause issues in Texas and maybe it just kept getting worse wherever he went. I'd like to know if he had friends or family. Might have become more isolated with each move. MOO

Worth noting they have him listed as Andrew McGann, and not James McGann

I don’t have the link handy, but somewhere earlier in the thread there was an ASP release, they mentioned that they initially reported his name as James Andrew, but it’s actually Andrew James.

If police thought this was spur of moment confrontation that escalated, the charges would be manslaughter not capital murder, right ?

No previous arrests, loner, no reason for killings. If he taught school in Broken Arrow, OK, what do colleagues have to say about him? Why was he in the small town of Springdale, Arkansas?

What the heck is wrong with our society?

Playing devil's advocate , and thinking what if completely un connected to targeting kids, and instead just an anti-social personality (hence the changes in jobs, clashes with management etc., strong opinions on everything etc.) , could it be race hate, as someone earlier alluded to the other couple in New Hampshire targeted potentially as a hate crime against bi racial couples (the mother in this instance appears perhaps Spanish/Mexican/Not sure just guessing)?

Went with this theory for a bit in my mind, but the cat being named Khan then doesn't fit .....

Maybe we will never know re motive if the mum was reportedly heard saying as alluded to on this thread 'why are you doing this' , also do we know the source for the reported quote ?
I would have to look for it, but it was in one of the articles about what the 2 little daughters overheard when fleeing.

Maybe the odd one, but I sincerely believe the vast majority of teachers have good motives towards children and families.

Of course, the vast majority of teachers are great people.
I think we have over 3 million teachers!

But there are still some pervs that move from one school to the next, this guy looks like that kind.

You would think so, but can't be entirely sure.

I think he was switching jobs to avoid being "caught" (as in reported to police).

But, another idea is he kept moving to remove himself from temptations, perhaps in an attempt to control his impulses. His over-the-top actions in Devil's Den might have been an explosion of urges he had been trying to control.

That's the most generous take on this I can muster. And, frankly, I think he's been committing offenses, known and unknown, for awhile.

And he can't commit any more against children. Clinton and Cristen put an end to it.

But there's no indication he was ever seen hanging around the playgrounds, picnic areas, etc. where he could watch kids. He was seen on hiking trails.

Every indication is the murders happened on a trail where there was no one else around.

If he really thought he could kill both parents and snatch a child, and run through the woods to his car with her, he was seriosly deluded.

Sadly, the child snatching stories are very familiar: a car drives along a road in an urban/suburban area, draws alongside a child alone on a sidewalk or playground, door opens, child pulled inside, car drives off.

But WHY didn't he go after the girls, when they started to run away?? They wouldn't have had a chance against him. I don't understand.

If he had even a nano-second to reconsider killing, it's murder.

Plus, I think a boatload of CSAM material on his devices is about to be discovered and he will face those very serious charges. imo

Yikes, my daughter and her husband lived in Broken Arrow a few years ago.

Regardless, so glad LE identified him then arrested him without others being hurt.

"Cats are my favorite animal (my cat Khan in the picture with me)". Makes me wonder whether he carried Khan in one of those bags he had on the trail - maybe as a lure?

Whatever happened, it was likely a lost cause at that point for him to get the girls. He was battling two adults. He instead chose self-preservation by running away. imo

I think he has been creepy, had suspicions and maybe has acted, but it takes time for little kids to understand a trusted person is hurting them.
So they may not have realized they should tell someone.
Or the told someone and admin did not act?!

School was going to start in Ten Days, and he had to act.
I don’t think he is full of good will- don’t take a job with kids.
I think he was getting braver and braver.

So glad this guy is off the street and out of the classroom with kids!!

I knew this guy wasn't "doughy" and was actually pretty muscular. Look at his traps and neck.

I think the parents kept him from running after the girls!
Now that we see who it is, a young fit guy, it makes their actions even all the more heroic.

I’m guessing that girls took off running and found other adults for help!
What brave little girls, hoping they can get the therapy they will need.

RIP Cristen and Clinton

Hi everyone! This case brought me to WS.

If the creep’s goal was to abduct a little girl, what do you think would have ultimately happened to her after the abduction?

Kids the age of the girls aren’t babies; they aren’t as pliant. If he planned on taking one or both girls to his house, eventually someone would have noticed them.

His face looks bruised.

Also is he wearing the smock from the hairdresser?

Good grief he looks scary in this photo also.

I certainly would not pick him out as being a 3rd grade teacher.
Washington County uses those on many mugshots. For many reasons, perp is wearing something revealing, doesn't have a shirt, evidence protection, unruly inmates that are leaking bodily fluids or trying to use them against the staff, etc. Many mugshots have had those gowns in them over the years. Mostly with young women who aren't dressed appropriately and/or might be cold.

Well, he was teaching 4th graders so I suspect he was acting out on inner sexual desires. Probably wanted to kill the parents and take off with one of the children.

He was probably stalking the trail looking for a victim. Don't think this was a random confrontation/argument. Who comes hiking to a trail with a knife instead of a gun? (even if you think you need a weapon). Answer: Nobody unless they are looking to do something sinister quietly.
