I think he looks psychiatrically ill, as if lit by some underlying overwhelming drive for violence and severe abuse.

I would like to know where he grew up and under what circumstances. It feels like his condition has been escalating for a long time, long enough to go through college and drive to a very specific employment ( elementary school children, perhaps specifically girls).
I appreciate your well thought-out posts and readiness to understand circumstances.

Just insane this alleged (LE have his DNA though) murderer was a "school teacher." Sources are reporting he previously worked as a school teacher at Donald Elementary (Lewisville, TX) school; and resigned after being accused of inappropriate behavior toward children.

-- Why are we not protecting our children yet, again?
-- Why are we passing these sick-O’s on to reoffend somewhere else?
-- Donald Elementary School (DES) needs to be looked at as to why they let this sick person resign only, did they not report him?
-- DES owes it to community, taxpayers and society to report inappropriate behavior toward children (dont ignore) and protect children.
-- These pedophiles dont stop because they are in a different area.
-- No wonder children dont speak up, some adults dont take them seriously.

Marcum told CBS News that, over the course of the school year, her son reported inappropriate behavior by McGann toward the girls in his class. It included being "very touchy with the girls and having them on his lap and making comments to them and keeping them back from recess."

In an email sent to parents in 2023 and shared with CBS News, a school administrator said McGann was placed on leave pending the results of an investigation into "complaints of poor classroom management and poor professional judgment."

"While our investigation did not find any evidence of inappropriate behavior with a student, we did find his classroom management and professional judgment to be below our district's expectations," the email said.
WTH?

Those are not barber smocks. Washington County uses them all the time for various reasons. Look through the other mugshots and you'll see others wearing them.
So possibly CNN had it wrong ? Oops.

His booking photo appears to show McGann still wearing a barber’s cape as he was processed into the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville.

From this link they stated the mug photo was taken with the smock still on.
You explanation is most likely correct & makes sense, though !

My .02 is that the one with straightened hair was taken soon after his apprehension, & immediately after the haircut began, as sometimes the hairdresser will spray hair lightly with water before the cutting starts.
The second curlier one was maybe taken to show what his natural state looks like in case anyone recognizes him from previous crimes ?
Imo.

It could cause some people to lose their jobs if school admins were told by parents that an incident took place, and the school admin did not do anything about it but fail to renew his contract!
Someone should have kicked off an investigation.

Yes yes yes.

We are MANDATED REPORTERS! At least in NY.

We are legally obligated to report anything of concern to the guidance counselors and the administration. Even if it’s something unsettling that a student writes in an essay. Or if they draw a picture of a gun or similar as we go around checking notebooks.

Yet in these cases apparently there was no reporting by the admins to the proper
authorities.

It’s possible this jerk didn’t do anything overt while at schools that required reporting, but I maintain that not being able to stick it out in one school or one state using one name is at least something that should have concerned each new admin.

IMO and experience.

I try to see things from various points of view.

If Le knew that he left the park, then telling everyone at the park might not be the right answer. They had plenty of LE in the park and telling people would surely get some to be hanging around trying to see or they would post about it and cause many more to come to this park to have a look too and so maybe LE was trying to process the scene as much as possible without broadcasting that they were doing so and hopefully preventing more people from coming to make a show of it. True crime things have really gotten wild in recent years since people and monotonize it, they seem to do wild/crazy things in order to get the views, likes, clicks, etc.

It can be quite a snowball effect if they releae something because anyone and everyone begins calling in about xyz and unless they have a solid lead that that IS what they are looking for, it really will tie up the phone lines and then the actual tips that might lead to this person could get lost in the shuffle. This time it seemed to work out, but what if that podcaster releasing the video with the car caused innocent people to be chased down by civilians trying to "help". I understand the person didn't get through to the tip line, but does that mean going to a podcaster is the way to do it? I don't think it is. Then the dispatcher was on a podcast as well talking.

I do think most just really do want to help, but there is a dark and gross side to true crime also and there are people who just want to make money and get clicks. It is a fine line between helping and hurting so I do understand the police calling out the podcasters because they should be held to some type of standard.

I think if it were me and I had a tip that I needed LE to know aobut, I'd all the tip line, then I'd try walking in to the local police department, if that didn't work, I'd call the next closest LE like the county LE, or the next city over, or try the state police. I think telling someone in LE and letting them relay the info is so much better/safer than talking to a podcaster who may or may not have the case's best interest in mind.

IMO

If LE knew he left the park, and they knew the black car was related to two dead victims of a murder… they sure did make a lot of assumptions.

How did LE know he was alone?
How did LE know there were no other victims?
How did LE know where he had left evidence they needed to collect?

I cannot see any logical reason for LE not to have notified the people at the park, gotten all of their names, contact info, and statements before they left.

Did they do that?
It seems they made assumptions that it was a lone guy and that he had left.
Then they kept it quiet, and people could have been in danger.

And when people found out- six hours later, they had tips and could not get info to LE because the single tip line for Arkansas State Police was cutting them off.

It seems a bit childish for LE to then say a podcaster- who was called by witnesses did something wrong. Why not simply come out to the public and say-
We are on it, we have leads, we appreciate your tips, we have a new tip line, and this is the sketch and this is the car description.
When a murderer is on the lose- anything is better than crickets.
There was no press conference by anyone until Day 5 when he was caught!

snipped

If the tip line wasn't working, over and over again, I think it's a legit complaint to make publicly. That's our tax dollars and it's a public service we should expect to work, especially in an urgent matter. Putting pressure on agencies to fix a broken tip system can work.

But to then share witness information directly with the public instead of LE, that's not right, imo. LE said that impedes investigation, and I believe them.

I was frustrated yesterday with the lack of a presser.....and then found out (as I should've known) LE was working diligently and narrowed down on the guy. I will remember this in future cases when it seems "LE isn't doing anything."

They are doing their job. It's not our job.

Spinning at age 28 due to a history of rejection and bursting of sexual frustration. Just like Kohberger.

Those prior OK and TX schools will have a lot to answer for.
Bbm.
Agreed.
They certainly do !
Like Kohberger, he has bushy eyebrows as well.

No offense to anyone with bushy brows. ;)

Thank you.

I do not want to ameliorate his alleged crimes. He needs to be securely away from anyone he can ever harm again

Like BK, I would want to know if there is some organic disease underlying his behavior, because there sure seems to be a plague of lethally psychotic people out there who have a veneer of function but end up going very far beyond norms, and really pose terrifying hazards to people. I would want to try to know if we can ever identify a cause and correct this stuff in any way.

Again, no sympathies for his actions, but the dense underlying net of the drive to depravity just keeps rising to the surface.

This didn't turn into a long wait for an arrest like Bridge Guy.
This didn't turn into a cold case like Swat Guy.

Good job to LE, the public, and to the dumb criminal.

Apologies for the question. I am familiar with The Delphi case but what case is the Swat Guy case?

Similar to what the Catholic church does, move a priest with a history of SA to another parish without any thought about the parishioners
I disagree. That's conspiracy thinking, that there's some type of plot.

Schools are run at the local level and the only power they have is to hire and fire their own teachers.

They cannot take away the teacher's qualifications, they cannot speculate about what is going on with an individual, they cannot tell another school to hire them.

IMO, if it is necessary, teaching could be governored by the kind of oversight organization that lawyers work under, the bar system. But allegations against lawyers have to be proven in a mini court, they can't just be whispers and parents taking personal dislike to people.

There was a report and an investigation. The investigation found the vibes were off ("Poor Classroom Management" and "Poor Professional Judgement"), but did not reveal any criminal activity. He resigned and went on to be a creeper teacher elsewhere.

This is the problem. They weren't able to prove SA actions so nothing stringent was done.
There still should be some documentation in his file noting the incident(s).
Children dont usually make up stories of SA.
There may be documentation, but who knows?
