There was a report and an investigation. The investigation found the vibes were off ("Poor Classroom Management" and "Poor Professional Judgement"), but did not reveal any criminal activity. He resigned and went on to be a creeper teacher elsewhere.
I wonder if those two "offenses" - which sound like they come from the corporate-speak of the show Severance - will turn out to be a cop out. I certainly won't accuse anyone or any organization of a cover-up here, but I know there's always a lot of pressure to sweep things under the rug and save face rather than look closer.

I just have the nagging feeling that someone, somewhere along the line, could have stopped this guy before now. Perhaps we'll see. So sad.

Why the 2 booking photos? Was he transported from one facility to another?

IMO, the point is not his vibes as a teacher in classrooms.

The point is his behaviour in Devil's Den Park, when he arrived with a knife and allegedly stabbed to death Clinten and Cristen..

I have asked myself this question over and over. Why? I think that too many school officials "pass the trash" and are also eager to get rid of the bad eggs as quickly as possible without public scrutiny and the backlash that come with it. They just get rid of the problem and send them on to be someone else's problem. Hopefully this is coming to an end because there are at least two school administrators who are being prosecuted right now for this. Another is being sued in civil court. The curtain has been pulled back. Hopefully accountability will return.

From the information that has come out today about this suspect, it seems like school districts are using the old Catholic Church strategy of just moving the problem people to another location instead of dealing with the problem and having consequences.
I think it’s despicable. They apparently think their school and district’s reputation is more important children’s safety. They are saving their own children by sending the bad players off to abuse children somewhere else.
This needs to stop.

Those are not barber smocks. Washington County uses them all the time for various reasons. Look through the other mugshots and you'll see others wearing them.
Could it be a suicide smock? Doesn’t really look like it though. He looks very menacing in both mugshots.

What happened in Devil's Den likely didn't happen out of nowhere, but perhaps an escalation of previous activities.

It's worth the look, imo, at his past - including his past employment which put him literally within reach of children.

But, his m.o. might be to go to public places - are there any unsolved crimes against children where he lived before?

Did he think he'd kill the parents and take both girls alive?
RSBM
I've been contemplating that question before I read your post just now.

I wonder if his intent was both girls and his strategy, as inane as it sounds, was to take out the parents, then grab the girls.

So perhaps it was a surprise attack on the parents, and did not start with McGann interacting with a daughter.

That may be explain why the Mother said "why are you doing this?" as reported by a daughter, IRRC. Oh, the horror of it all.

The daughters will be able to tell how it started and if the perp spoke to them at all.

Moo...in regards to teachers moving frequently to different schools. The reason some people get into teaching is because they like traveling to different areas and different countries. A teacher changing areas frequently is not always about running away from their problems...moo

I think stabbings of adults would be the focus.

However, given how relatively incompetent this was, it may have been his first crime.

This is certainly true, but IMO it just amplifies the shock when the murderer is someone in a position of trust and esteem. Particularly when they work with children.

It increases the helpless feeling that no one can be trusted, just as the choice of a busy park during the day magnifies the sense that nowhere is safe.

There still should be some documentation in his file noting the incident(s).
Children dont usually make up stories of SA.
There may be documentation, but who knows?
moo

Nope, the system needs to be changed so these types of creeps don’t hop districts and have access to a new community and new children.
The accounts of parents who had children in his class will start to come out…
Little girls should not be sitting on their teacher’s lap, and staying in from recess to do extra activities with their teacher alone, or be given candy by their teacher.

The signs were there, and it is infuriating that the system let the kids down and now it led to a double murder and two little girls without parents!

Kids are taught ‘stranger danger’ and their teacher is not a stranger.

I'm willing to bet those with good characters who like to teach in different areas aren't arrested for a double murder.

Looking at HIS background for red flags isn't an indictment against others. Just him. And since he has been charged with a double murder, I'm not giving him benefit of the doubt at this point.

A lot of times if someone is struggling in a work environment or giving off creepy feeling in the classroom, they just tell them to be looking for a job because their contract will not be renewed.

Also, with HIPPA laws, the new school district CANNOT dive into WHY the individual was not allowed to return and that they "voluntarily" resigned.

it happens in almost all fields.

I hear ya. He's been charged with double murder and that should be the focus? I can understand that.

However, I think more info is forthcoming. We'll learn more, perhaps at the presser this afternoon. I do think speculation is fair, considering the adults he killed were with children at the time and he's a teacher. We don't have to ignore the scene around the murder.

Still curious why he would carry a giant bag just to get into a knife fight with adults.

Words fail me. 🤬 🤮
Well not really .... but you know what kind of things we could be saying about how this pervy perp should be treated by the justice system.

How sad for those parents who have had kids in his classroom !!!!!!
If reports were made to the school admin. by students and/or parents, they should've been listened to !

And now two innocent people are dead. A mom and a dad.
Also think he was wearing that large backpack duffle bag to abduct a little one !
Omo.

Hmm sounds more like disinterested in talking to the parents

Or maybe male students, too.

Perhaps it was very different with the young female students and he just learned to fade into the background when dealing with parents, so as to avoid engaging with them in case they picked up on something.

i don't know the psychology but it seems that predators/killers like this seem to give-in to their dark desires bit by bit... and growing bolder.

it seems very difficult to prevent a creep from becoming a monster.
