Thank you for your service! And I don’t have any children in school anymore but always vote for the school levy’s.I am in education and I think it's important to be aware of the possibility of false accusations but the best way to defend against them is to follow the child protection strategies. By making abuse significantly more difficult/impossible, they protect both the student from abuse and the teacher from false allegations of abuse. You couldn't possibly have touched the child inappropriately in the bathroom if it is demonstrable that you were never in the bathroom with the child.
I can only assume it was because he was hanging his head that the police officers all looked taller than he was to me then. He looked shorter to me than almost everyone especially when in the booking search. Not super short, but no taller than 5'10".Yes, arrest records showed he is 6’ and 180lbs.
He isn’t stunted.
I also believe his parents live in OK, not sure when they moved from the Chicago area.
IMO
Cameras in educational spaces are often considered a violation of student privacy. Sometimes they have them in cafeterias and hallways. Not all of them record. Some schools don't have any cameras. It varies a lot by school. I don't know about these particular school systems.I wondered that, too, if only for liability purposes.
I don't think most of them do, except for the ones that are brought in, KWIM?Do schools have cameras in their classrooms these days?
I’m confused, why would this be a violation of student privacy? The only people that would see them are the people that work in the school. Can a principal not come in a classroom because of privacy? It’s not like they would be online in an open network. It would protect everyone. Children now are used to cameras everywhere. Not really. What I’m defending are the innocent teachers out there. They are walking on eggshells all the time and ONE’s parents false accusations can destroy a career and possibly even more. All we can do is make sure we report it to the proper authorities.
I don't know that anyone is questioning if he is a creep. But some people may be worried about lumping all teachers who, say, give candy to certain kids into the same creep basket. I had teachers who gave candy to only the kids who completed x, y or z. I found it totally unfair to the kids who could not possibly do x,y, or z, but that didn't make the teacher a creep, just misinformed about learning differences.None of those things are odd alone, except the lap sitting
No one is trying to indict candy
Ask a pediatrician, a teacher, a counselor, anyone who works with children as a professional and they will tell you- this is creepy
I would run out of fingers and toes if I counted all of the trainings I have had to attend to protect employers from lawsuits- as they intended to prevent this exact behavior with minors.
As more comes out it is reading like a textbook case of what a male teacher/ coach, counselor, admin, or janitor should not do with or around children. Any adult, not just males.
And it is so similar to what the teacher in my area got caught doing- but only two years after the incidents. There must be a pedo forum or handbook where they share tactics to try that work??
I’m shocked by how many people in these forums are still question if this guy was a creep or not. Maybe some people are more trusting than I am? I don’t get it.
My Spidey Senses are sending out fight or flight alarms.

I agree with you, but if you're family and you knew he had "issues" you would also not be likely to want to let anyone know you knew. I am left wondering if he still had any relationships left intact.I haven't seen anything from his family, and only a few things from people who grew up with him in IL. No college buddies or fellow teachers.
But really, under the circumstances, who would want to come forward and say they were a recent friend? Same for his family, what would they say? They look normal, I'm sure they are shell shocked.
Bingo!! This was the purpose of having the workshops we had in college. They prepared us well to go out and make informed decisions that protected the students as well as ourselves from false or misconstrued allegations.I am in education and I think it's important to be aware of the possibility of false accusations but the best way to defend against them is to follow the child protection strategies. IDK, honestly. This is the argument I've heard. I guess the idea is that if you end up using the footage to defend yourself against allegations of abuse by Sally then everyone can see Jimmy in the corner having a meltdown or not understanding multiplication? It doesn't seem like a great argument against having them at all to me. It makes a lot more sense as an argument against letting parents see the footage.I’m confused, why would this be a violation of student privacy? The only people that would see them are the people that work in the school. Can a principal not come in a classroom because of privacy? It’s not like they would be online in an open network. Wow.The woman I posted about never contacted him. She was just going through the likes to her profile, and his profile was one of them. He gave her the like on the morning of the day of the murders.
Why would anybody be attracted to a little girl anyway? When I was in school, nobody touched the students at all.
It really is unsettling to think he was "liking" a woman on a dating app, then dressing up in all black, grabbing some bags, arming self with a knife, and heading to a state park to murder.Wow.
Do schools have cameras in their classrooms these days?
I taught 8th grade.
Even at that age, we were absolutely forbidden to randomly distribute candy or anything else, which we only did at Chanukah/Christmas time anyway.
The reason for this is that we first had to send out permission slips for the parents to sign.
In NYC we obviously have students from all around the world.
There are parents who have religious reasons why their children cannot eat something, like those pork rinds. There are parents who forbid their kids from eating candy for health reasons. There are also, importantly, children with allergies to certain ingredients. My students were 13 or 14 and they knew if they were allergic to something. However, sometimes there are hidden ingredients, and sometimes kids at that age just want to be like their peers, so they don’t tell us. Or they just want that treat for once that their parents always forbid.
God forbid we just laid out candy, cake, peanut butter crackers etc. and a child became ill, or worse. Hence I always had parents sign off permission and inform me what they can or cannot have.
As to a young male teacher hoisting 10-year old girls onto his lap, that is NOT NORMAL. This is a FLASHING NO!!!!!
I’m not 100% certain if it would be grounds for an arrest or not, but IMO right then and there, that is child abuse.
Little girls do NOT belong near the groin area of unrelated men.

Chilling that he was trolling a dating site the very morning he killed Clinton and Cristen. What was going through his head. I hope we get answers to the “Why”, that always haunts me.The woman I posted about never contacted him. She was just going through the likes to her profile, and his profile was one of them. I did some research. Some say it hinders the teacher/student relationship. I think more and more people are used to cameras being around us. If they are worried about them being hacked, why even have them in the hallways at all then. What could possibly be seen in the classroom by the hacker that they couldn’t see in the hallway or cafeteria? Im just not understanding the logic when it appears to me it could help more than it hurts.I’ve worked at many schools, and observed and evaluated teachers in hundreds in Texas.
To my knowledge there were no cameras in the classrooms of those schools.
On busses- yes
In the hallways- yes
In common spaces- yes
Outside schools- yes
Why? I’m not sure, I would have no issue teaching in a room with a camera.
Some say it is a privacy issue- I don’t bye that
