Did AJM take Kahn with him for whatever crime he intended to commit (e.g. to lure a young girl)?

Pure speculation with a touch of humor, maybe.
On a more somber note, one websleuther posted recently that they strongly believe the bag had a shovel in it. Could the cat Khan have passed away, and AM took him to bury in the park? It's not usually permitted to bury a pet on rental property, and the need for a burial and digging at the park could also explain the fingerless gloves. It could also explain the terrible expression on his face as seen by the group of 4 hikers, though we've seen plenty of other photos of him looking mighty scary as just a regular expression. If the Brink girls stumbled upon him in the midst of a pet burial, or innocently said something triggering about his pet/a pet, or the father did, could that alone set AM off?

TOTAL invention on my part, based on one comment that the bag looked like a pet carrier. (I think someone much earlier recognized it as a particular brand of athletic bag, though.)

Possibly he brought a shovel to bury bodies. Hope the cat is okay.

Yes, I'm probably just thinking a bit too much of the serial murder character in Silence of the Lambs who treasured his dog and murdered people.

You've probably already had this link but in case you haven't.

Interviewee says their friendship group all lost touch with the perp sometime around High School. Played baseball together, had sleepovers, a nice normal family in his opinion
Hindsight recollections about red flags - a quick temper, ' completely freaks out' even during baseball. A traffic dispute and unwarranted reaction. 'He always had trouble with the opposite sex'

Knismophilia- tickling fetish, pleasure and power dynamic with predators, appears harmless to adults, normalizes inappropriate touching, isolation, boundary violation, control
Parents recognized actions as grooming behavior
Credence to the theory- McGann was trying to feed fetish by grabbing one of the girls, and parents protected them from him
Children were the same age as the students he was going to teach, perps typically have age, sex, type, Targetted his preference,

DNA match from hair of Lupita’s salon to something found at scene, suspect wounds
Couple happily married, Cristina stay at home mom then completed 2 yr nursing program, began to travel, building beautiful life
Chance meeting on the trail, random, had been in Arkansas for a month
Haircut buzz in the back so it looks different from the photo
Hair on floor match? Yes mitochondrial DNA matching, passed via moms
Root nucleus is DNA match both parents, mitochondrial match to Mom, don’t need nucleus

It sounds like someone called in from one of the barber/salons he visited as LE knew he was looking for a place to get his haircut and headed him off at Lupita’s

Wow, thanks for capturing all that. Really a lot to digest. Not far off some working theories here. Except for Knismophilia! I learned a new word.

Beware, this link from a professional site is sexually graphic and may offend some.

I think we need to keep in mind the girls were present at the crime scene and are witnesses. We know they saw their father stabbed because that is what they relayed at the visitors center. It’s very likely they are aware of how things unfolded.

For now, I’m going to believe what LE has stated. The girls were not targeted. imo

ETA -Link

“We've spoken to the family quite a few times over the last several days,” Hagar said. “What we heard consistently is what a loving mother and father they were, and what a loving husband and wife they were towards each other. They absolutely protected those girls to their fullest extent, to the point that it cost them their lives.”

However, officers said there is no indication that either of the two girls were McGann’s target.
I realize the statement “They absolutely protected those girls to their fullest extent, to the point that it cost them their lives.” - could have a different meaning from the way I’m applying it. But what were they protecting the girls “from”?

Getting stabbed by the maniac with the knife? They wouldn't have to have been targeted to be in danger.

That last sentence…so did they call him in thinking he looked like the sketch? Or maybe they saw his car ?

I don’t know… but she mentioned he had gone to several places to get a haircut and refused to sign in. And then he shows up a at Lupita’s and she says he didn’t want to sign.
In her interview she says she was 4-5 min into his haircut when the cops show up. That is fast!

So I’m thinking someone from one of the other hair salons called the police, and told them he was trying to get his haircut. So maybe the cops sent someone to drive around to hair salons looking for that car?
And… the genius continued to drive to different hair salons in that same car- so they found him.
In the Lupita interview she said something that made me think they recognized him, or thought it may be him… it is possible her sister- that has to be her sister that was next to her in the interview- went to the back and called 911?

It was Nancy Grace’s suggestion that the knife was like Kohberger’s that blew my mind!
I wonder where she got that? It implies they found that knife and it is in evidence.
Sometimes NG drives me nuts- she can be quite rude to her guests at times- but she seems to get inside info quick. But- it may also imply he was a student of Kohberger!! Yuck

Wait, where did the info about three bags come from?

Re the duffle, could it possibly be a pet carrier? Considering the mesh parts?

RE number of bags he is carrying
At first it seemed like it but when I looked at the lighter picture and some searching for those stripes- it is clear to me now.
A smaller back pac
A large duffle up ended that one end is folding over- it doesn’t have backpack straps so he is wearing it odd.
Here is a pic of what I think is the duffle bag- 3 feet long.
Athleticogear Hockey Duffle
If you scroll on to the video on the link you can see how huge it is compared to the guy carrying it and at the beginning of the video it shows that id slot.

It would be awkward to carry the other direction- being 3 feet long and the straps wouldn’t work right. So he upended it and put the straps around each shoulder.
You can tell from the pic of him that the straps are too thin and it sits too low. It isn’t made to be worn like a backpack- but the stripes look right. And there is a clear slot for an ID card on one end.
And it matches the young guy that passed him on the trail- who described a huge black bag that was part solid and part mesh.

Dear God "History of tickling little girls" is the worst thing I have read in awhile. What an absolute creep.

You should hear the way the expert on the Nancy Grace video describes it.
That the tickler likes the sense of control over the person being tickled, like he gets a kick out of it when they don’t like it anymore
Nauseating, so sounds like escalation would lead to physical harm

Quite possible
Cats are pretty resilient, the one between my head and the keyboard currently is 16 years old and not knocking on death’s door. Those pics of Khan don’t show an old cat, so I’d hate to think he did something to that cat. He may have-

The young man did say there appeared to be weight in the bag, but in the picture it didn’t look full.s
So something in there may not fill it up.

I have had very young children unexpectedly climb into my lap. Some kids come from very loving homes and I became and extension of that. We're talking kindergarten 1st, 2nd grade. I had a very few kids come and wrap their arms around me needing a hug.

It was all innocent and I never got a complaint but then I made sure the interaction was as short as possible to not embarrass the child. This was a long time ago in a very different world.

Definitely, this never happened when I was alone with a child which was pretty much rare.

I personally don't think being alone with a child or student for that matter is ever a good idea. I learned that when a student had a crush and would come into my room after school. The first time he tried to hold my hand. I told him no and asked him to leave. Then I informed the teachers close to me to keep an eye out and if he returned to please come in my room. The next time he came in the lady across the hall came in and he left. After that he stalked me for awhile following me to the store etc.

What would have happened if when he'd grabbed my hand someone had witnessed it? Now that's yikes on bikes!!

Agree, I too have had young children climb up into my lap- toddlers up to about 2nd grade but not older.

His students were 5th graders. Way too old to spontaneously climb up into a teacher’s lap at school. By that age they know the culture of school, expectations of students and teachers.
Kids that are 10 yrs old can recognize when something is off in a relationship between a teacher and student. They may not understand it- but they know it doesn’t fit the pattern they have seen in all their years in school. It feels off.

His advantage is-he is male. So kids can imagine that male teachers may have different rules they follow compared to female teachers. Of course they do not.
Male teachers are not common, some related to them like a Dad or big brother.

I think what LE said was appropriate no matter what they think the motive was for the attack.

Two little girls saw their dad get stabbed
Their mom told them to run for help as fast as they could
They did and then they could no longer hear their mom screaming

[bbm]

was that in MSM?

A lot of fixed blade knives are similar. And in case anyone does not know, fixed blade just means it doesn't fold or retract. It stays where it is on the handle. So if LE said fixed blade knife, it would be likely to be similar to a Ka-Bar. Most collectors don't use their prize knives to kill someone, but who knows?

Little girls were found all alone on the trail crying, found by a hiker, brought to visitor’s center

Thank you—- your post was so informative.

Unfortunately every single sentence was heartbreaking, and for me the one I’ve quoted above is the worst of all.

I suppose it isn’t true then that the mother brought them safely to the visitors’ center and then went back to help her husband. It seems that neither of the parents had much of a chance of survival.

The long list you’ve provided from the Nancy Grace conversation holds so many dreadful details.

Had they locked this guy up long ago for what appears to me to already be abusive behavior toward children, we would have simply had an anonymous, happy family of five enjoying a day at the park.

And we’d never have heard of this creep.

That is what she said, heartbreaking

True- a KaBar is a fixed blade knife.

But all of the knives in our kitchens are fixed blade.
I would not describe any kitchen knife as like a KaBar.

To me saying like Kohberger knife means something very different. It means a knife used for combat, a military knife.

I hope most collectors of knifes aren’t murderers! I also wouldn’t consider a KaBar knife a collector knife- they cost about $100 on Amazon iirc
