I can't wrap my brain around this aspect
Saturday 1PM ish most likely the busiest time frame of the entire week on a park trail
And you're looking for people to stab to death
All the while - according to the Ytube interviewee who passed him on the trail
Exuding a kinda sorta Zodiac Killer vibe

So brazen

Speaking as a hiker and not a mountain biker, it is difficult for hikers and mountain bikers to share the same trails in some areas.

I'm always the one stepping off the trail to let mountain bikers through. Some are polite and doing a moderate speed. Some are devils on two wheels and make no bones about wishing hikers were not stopping them from death-defying speeds.

I really do prefer to hike in places where the two don't share the same path, if at all possible.

Perhaps an overenthusiastic mountain biker who got fed up with slowpokes on the trails.

Just putting it out there as a thought.

I keep thinking of a Gary Hilton (Blood Mountain) situation. Unfortunately these bustiful places of nature also can draw some evil people.

I could totally be reading into this, but I feel that the family’s statement that Clinton and Cristen ‘died heroes, protecting their little girls’ is telling. IMO this was likely a Delphi-style creep or someone like Craig Ross Jr, who kidnapped and assaulted a 9 year old opportunistically in 2023 while she was biking at a campground. The only thing that throws a ‘wrench’ in that idea for me is the presence of the parents. I guess time will tell. This is seriously horrible. It feels more and more to me that in the US, there’s no where we can go that is truly safe. Not our place of work, not a restaurant or club, and not even our beautiful parks. I’ve gone from being extremely reluctant to carry my firearm, to carrying it almost everywhere I go. What a world. MOO.

The children know what happened and and how it all began. I’m sure they have talked to LE.
Why LE isn’t sharing it or much of anything is a little puzzling. It seems though in cases that when the police are quiet this early on, they are on to something. I hope so.

I waiver between this being premeditated vs random.

All my speculation: I wonder if premeditated if the victims posted about their plans for the day on social media alerting the perp to their location for the day, found their car in a trail lot and explored the trails branching off that trailhead.

I saw a bunch of folks in this thread mention the possibility of exes being involved, but I'd also be curious about possible extra-marital affairs given that the adult couple were victimized and not the children.

i just have a hard time wrapping my head around this being premeditated for them specifically. they JUST moved to the area, while not impossible it seems rather unlikely they would've had beef with someone in such short time. they had been married for 11 years and lived in two other states previously, seems unlikely a disgruntled ex or affair partner would have been able to so quickly hire someone in the area to carry out the attacks. but you never know and again it's certainly not impossible.

To me this feels similar to the Sunny Stewart murder, that is to say, a random incident

Done a lot of hiking on long distance trails. Mostly left credit cards well-hidden in vehicle, and didn't take much cash. Seems to me a person who wanted $ would find other victims.
I agree with you Trino.

I don’t think a person solely looking to rob somebody would be targeting trails - people tend to take very few valuables with them when walking.

When me and my family go on these type of trails we often don’t even take our phones - sometimes it’s nice just to be in other peoples company enjoying the fresh air rather than for my teenager or husband to be constantly on their phones!

I only take my phone if Im running alone.

If the car was stolen, why would he care about covering up the plate?
Because if the vehicle was stolen, LE would be looking for it by its original plate.

I still think the person will be identified and located within a week or so.

They and the car were seen by multiple people. that is a lot more to go on that we might think.

Some are saying that the man couldn’t get far without someone noticing the tape on the plates
And cameras would pick up the car plates

Locals have reported not being able to get into Arkansas State Police tip line, phone line is overwhelmed and hanging up, unable to give tips of description of suspect

Descriptions of suspect- missing age, height estimate, hair color/length, color of long sleeve shirt
Description of car- missing age of car, two or four door
Description says car was seen driving out of a park exit- There are three park exits- to West, South, and East- Which exit?

First alert came out Sat night when people were winding down, most coming forward in park and local areas had no idea a manhunt was in progress until midday Sunday

It is 1AM Tuesday and this event happened on Saturday
No press conference yet??
He could be local or have hit highway and be hundreds of miles away

IMO
Description says car was seen driving out of a park exit- There are three park exits- to West, South, and East- Which exit?

my interpretation of them saying he could've left on State Highway 170 or State Highway 220 means they only know that he generally traveled in the direction of an exit but they don't have any evidence if he went north or south

as far as missing some descriptions, i agree. with a sketch and eyewitness descriptions i don't know why they couldn't get an age and height range.

MOO

Fingers crossed somebody will recognise him.

I wonder who took this photo - it seems pretty close up to him and I doubt it’s CCTV as that would capture him turning around and get his face.

The bag is a strange one it looks like a hold bag but he has put straps on it for his back - it looks pretty empty.

Seems like a heavy-duty duffle bag style backpack....with little or nothing in it.

Why did he need that?

My immediate thought is his clothes. Perhaps bloody clothes?

Some hikers might have been wearing GoPros on the trail that day.

It looks like he is wearing a backpack and a duffel bag. If you zoom in you can see the duffel bag strap around his shoulder. The backpack straps are separate.
Ahh yes youre right.

Im wondering about possibly homeless? That’s the only reason I see for carrying those two big bags.

Strange clothing during a huge heat wave, along the the weird empty bag.

Maybe somebody took this picture because this person had been acting strange.

Also, those don’t look like hiking boots.
