From most video and photos of Devil's Den State Park, it looks like an inviting area with broad paths and little undergrowth -- not like they were in a remote are with dense underbrush ?
Awful thing to happen when they were out for a family day !!!

I have seen several posts referring to mom taking kids to the car but have apparently missed the link. Do you have a link you can share where it is indicated that mom and kids ran to the visitors office and mom went back? Thank you so much.

The oldest child is Clinton's daughter from a previous relationship. She would be about 17 years-old now based on the date stamps of the photos on Clinton's Facebook page. I doubt the perp is an ex of either Clinton or Cristen.

Just speculation and very unlikely - but does the oldest daughter have an ex or controlling boyfriend who is not happy about the family's move to Arkansas (assuming the oldest daughter will be there at least part-time to visit her dad and younger half-siblings)?

I am in one of the pesky DFWers with a love of Beavers Bend State Park and the surrounding Oachita Mountains National Forest. But.... I started going there before it was trendy in Texas. Hoping that makes me one of the good guys.

Wonder why the killer did not chase the girls because, obviously, they were witnesses. Maybe they were screaming/crying, making noise? Not very many killers care if a witnesses is a child.

Could be a number or a combination of reasons. If it is his first time and he likely like many didn't understand how grueling it is, freaked out and left. Kids might not have been his mo, or even his concern. These poor kids are in shock and I am happy they added the FBI to try to expedite everything. Kids often aren't always the best witnesses after the fact, neither are most adult, but I always think of Mary Ann Holmes poor daughter and the pictures she tried to draw of her mom's killer. I know she was younger but still.

Grateful the kids' lives were spared as they're old enough to be witnesses.

I waiver between this being premeditated vs random.

All my speculation: I wonder if premeditated if the victims posted about their plans for the day on social media alerting the perp to their location for the day, found their car in a trail lot and explored the trails branching off that trailhead.

I saw a bunch of folks in this thread mention the possibility of exes being involved, but I'd also be curious about possible extra-marital affairs given that the adult couple were victimized and not the children.

He killed two people, and if the stabbing mentioned in the 911 call is true. Likely had a change of clothes/shoes/weapon in that backback. Which speaks to premeditation. JMO.

Dispatch recordings indicate the couple’s two children came to the park’s visitor center and told staff their parents had been assaulted on a trail and that one of the parents may have been stabbed. State troopers later found two bodies on a trail, according to radio traffic.

The wife’s driver’s license had South Dakota as the state. For occupations on the service agreement, the woman listed Washington Regional for her and Hiland Dairy for him.

Hiland Dairy confirmed Clinton Brink had transferred from its parent company, Prairie Farms Dairy, from South Dakota and was scheduled to start his job as a driver delivering milk in the Fayetteville area on Monday.
