Not sure what you mean, but what I see on his right tricep is, I believe, a handle of the dufflebag.
I meant this, pointed out by another sleuth here (sorry don’t find the post). But it’s possible it’s the strap & how the light catches it…

Surely there are easier targets than a child with both parents present in a remote location where you would need to hike out with the child or hike the child to the secondary location. Either way hiking out carrying a child at Devil's Den seems far fetched as I have personally been there with my children. People that haven't hiked in NWA rarely understand the elevation change on the trails are much harder than most people would expect. There are no switchbacks on most the trails its straightup over the mountain/ hill. Is it doable to hike out with a 60ish pound bag, for sure, but it is not easy and it would have taken much longer to hike out. Also, there is absolutely no garrentee a child that the perp wants would be present in the state park to abduct? If a child was the target. There are so many easier targets the suspect could have chosen . No need to go out into the woods to wait for the right little girl. IMO

Hopefully they find the suspect asap!

I think you are right, a child would be tough but why the bags?

As I’m looking at that picture I think there are three bags.
This is what I see…
Small daypack/ backpack hydro pack- black with blue triangle of shirt showing through hole.
Black 24 inch duffel with stripes on one end and a plastic ID card holder.
Large black partial mesh bag for sports equipment- like diving gear. As described by the group of four who saw him and made the sketch.

Either gaiters over pants over boots, or wading pants over boots
Boots/shoes with thick soles like Keens

The duffle bag looks empty.
Why would someone be carrying empty bags?
To fill them up
To empty them

What if he carried something out there into the woods and left it, and was headed out?
And he didn’t want any witnesses?? He may think the little girls couldn’t remember/ identify him.

IMO

Wouldn't killing someone bring attention to whatever the suspect was tying to leave in the woods without witnesses? IMO

Depending on his state of mind, it may well turn out that his reasoning for all of it - the outfit, the bags, the attack itself - is something that makes sense only to him

Sure, the idea of abducting a child in a state park with a duffle bag handy is ABSURD to us, because we're rational people. This guy might be delusional, living in a fantasy world, acting on urges that do not make sense.

And, we don't know if the parents were necessarily nearby. Sometimes in places like that, kids are allowed to run ahead, play by themselves, a short distance away from parents. From the start, I've thought the father was protecting his family, with mother obviously joining in.

What would cause such a vicious attack? Perhaps an angry father and mother preventing harm to their children.

Anyway, it's just an idea. I obviously don't know what happened.

But I do think it's very strange to be carry large seemingly empty bags on a hike. Why does he have them?

Or a handle...what I see is, where you have drawn that upper yellow line is a darker version of the same thing and they appear to join towards his back.

Shades of bridge guy indeed. This photo is much closer and sharper, at least.

I am not familiar with the area at all, but my first thought when I saw he was carrying a duffel bag was that maybe he'd set up camp somewhere; a light camp--tent and bare necessities--and that he was out hiking.

Thinking on it more though...if so, why bring the duffel bag on his hike and did he abandon his camp after the murders?

From dad's pictures, looks like this family enjoyed the outdoors a lot together. With the killer having a backpack, I don't think they were "planned victims". something happened that sent him into a rage- road rage on way to the trials or in the parking lot, or something along the trial that enraged him.
Fingers crossed somebody will recognise him.

I wonder who took this photo - it seems pretty close up to him and I doubt it’s CCTV as that would capture him turning around and get his face.

The bag is a strange one it looks like a hold bag but he has put straps on it for his back - it looks pretty empty.
Looks like he's weaved his arms through the carry handles to use as a strap. I wonder if the material around his neck is a gaither style face covering? I searched and see they make versions that help cool you off.
I believe he will be caught soon! Someone will recall a person they know looking like this from behind.

Odd, the things you notice on first impression...

I see a feminine posture/stance, as if this were a young woman pausing at a trailside verge to check her phone and view the scenery.

How big is that long-sleeved T, 4X? It's so, so long.

Incredibly thankful this photo was located and released.

It is possible that he was picking up something that had been stashed in the woods to put in the duffle. That's why he isn't disheveled, and is turned to face away from the trail so as not to have his face seen.
I feel as if he's watching someoke or something on the trail below him

The small backpack/waterbag/… looks like this one. Very similar but not identical to this hydratation pack:

Could this be added to his gear to wash hands & face after the facts?

I agree with what your saying. I am just going with what are typically the mostly likely scenarios.

If the target was a child to abduct my assumption would be he is a sex predator and not delusional. There are easier targets to abduct is all I was getting at if his target was a child. I don’t think he is a simple sexual predator. The location seems way wrong for that.

I am leaning more into a mental health issue and some type of interaction happened and the suspect killed the parents in some type of fit of rage. Or its a thrill kill?

The big empty bag is a big question?? Why he have it?

All IMO based on not much information.

I thought the exact same thing, female. Also I’m a baseball hat person and his looks to small.

I've lightened the image up in case it helps at all.

I agree with previous comments about it looking like the suspect was wearing wading shoes/gaiters (the left gaiter appears to have fallen down) and a camelbak-type backpack. Whoever this is, it looks like they were prepared to be out in the elements.

The witnesses would know if the suspect was a female.
