My condolences to the family of Cristen and Clinton Brink. I hope they and their loved ones get justice and I am glad their daughters were able to get away and were able to reach and get help and safety from the Visitors Center. I am so sorry for their loss and what they had endured.

I was wondering the same thing too. I wonder if there was a trail below? For example, I thought it looked like maybe there could be one or two people further down to the left of him. To be fair though, the image is blurry and it could just nothing but my own imagination or poor eye sight getting the best of me.

I also wonder if that time the photo he was taken of he was looking down at a phone or camera? I wonder this mainly because I tend to 🤬🤬🤬🤬 my hip like that when standing while scrolling or looking through my phone or device for a few minutes. Maybe such a device would also be remembered by potential witnesses, other hikers or recognized by those who may know or be familiar the suspect or trigger the memory of someone who once was. Just my own speculation.

To clarify perhaps I should have wrote pop my hip or jut my hip. It appears the word I originally wrote was misinterpreted as inappropriate.

To me the left trouser looks tighter and less shiny than the right. If a gaiter is pulled up over the right leg, but rolled down to the ankle on the left, that would potentially explain why the two legs looks a bit different.
I wonder if this was to allow him quick & easy access to an ankle or boot holstered knife if it became needed.

However, if he hadn't dressed so weirdly and just acted casual, probably no one would have noticed any tats..
Right?! Possible evidence of guilty intent though.

I can’t make the face in the sketch and the backside of the guy match up in my brain.

The photo of the guy from the back makes me think of someone who may have recently lost a good bit of weight, maybe from hiking/rucking.

I’m not getting a female feel.

Yes it was identified in post #449 as a North Face t-shirt
*my opinion

It has not been identified by LE, so it is not official.

I have my doubts because the photo looks different to me: The trail picture shows a semi-circular area in blue on the left side of the photo on the shirt. It does not appear on the North Face shirt. It reminds me of the edge of a large ripple in a blue pond.

If he was intending to blend, he didn’t. I’m not sure what to make of that.
Lack of self awareness?
Doesn’t give a crap what people think?
Didn’t know Arkansas in the summer was hot?
Covering up tattoos?
Thought he needed ten gallons of water? And drank all of them?

IMO
looks like a duffle with maybe a camelpack or small backpack underneath it. Change of clothing? bigger weapon?

Sweatshirt was identified upthread! Also necker could have been a 'buff', some are for summer wear..

I'm not convinced about the t-shirt.

He could be wearing a black buff, good find.

Yeah, kind of looks like a cheap Osprey knockoff, but without shoulder strap airflow holes like with the Osprey bags. Duffle looks cheap too, like he bought all this kit at the Salvation Army store. The pants don’t fit either.
do people have ideas about his shoes? they do not look like hiking boots or sneakers to me- more like suede mocs which are not really summer wear.

Catching up
Why did someone take a photo of the perp standing from behind him?
TIA

I've lightened the image up in case it helps at all.

I agree with previous comments about it looking like the suspect was wearing wading shoes/gaiters (the left gaiter appears to have fallen down) and a camelbak-type backpack. Whoever this is, it looks like they were prepared to be out in the elements.

This lightened photo is interesting. The side of the bag with the plastic ID slot is one of the ends of the bag, not the long side. so we are looking at it end on.

There is also a slightly fuzzy lighter area above the stripes that could be the zip pocket. The stripes seen along the lower right side then become the other long side of the bag. The mesh top is very clear and very distinctive. From the perspective of the photo, the bag is "telescoped" and appears shorter than it it. When you put these pieces together, this is quite a large bag.

The Athletico Hockey Bag is a good fit, although the straps seem odd. It is 3 feet long and 18inches square.

Clothing: could be tech clothing made to dry fast, wick sweat and keep you cooler. Also could be keeping covered to avoid ticks, sun exposure or my personal thought: avoid tattoo identification.
usually if you are avoiding ticks, you wear light clothing, not black

Yeah; I'm getting the feeling that this is *not* a well experienced outdoorsman or hiker. That stance.... hmm. It just seems to me to maybe have more of a metro, "waiting at the bus stop scrolling social media" vibe to it.

The weird garb seems to scream "shielding identifying markers & protecting dna shedding" though this killer may have *thought* he was dping a decent job cos playing an outdoors backwoods trail hiker. Yeah....no. At least not to the locals who really are.

I lived there years back. University alum for 2 degree programs. Still have close friends there and some family-by-choice. Canoed those rivers, water skied those lakes, camped those backwoods, and hiked those trails. One of my most cherished friends was a park ranger and another a botanist who lead many students expeditions in those beautiful woods.

I’m pretty sure it is this bag, but up and down. The stripes are high on the LEFT and low on the RIGHT, and it is sagging over. The clear slot for the ID is on the end of the bag. Which is on the top here.
I sent in a tip via email- interesting what a pain it was to fill it out. There is no email sent to you saying they received the tip. That means some people will send twice.
Between their phone line and less than wonderful website for tips- they are missing a lot of info or getting it slowly. Frustrating

Athleticogear hockey duffle bag

IMO
Old hockey guy here
Not a hockey duffle
Waaay too small
I'm 6ft3in 215 lbs and a filled up hockey bag was a chore to carry into the rink

From dad's pictures, looks like this family enjoyed the outdoors a lot together. With the killer having a backpack, I don't think they were "planned victims". something happened that sent him into a rage- road rage on way to the trials or in the parking lot, or something along the trial that enraged him.

Looks like he's weaved his arms through the carry handles to use as a strap. I wonder if the material around his neck is a gaither style face covering? I searched and see they make versions that help cool you off.
I believe he will be caught soon! Someone will recall a person they know looking like this from behind.
his barber....

We dont know yet where this photo came from so it may not have been from walking behind

Just catching up here. But my first thought/question was if this was targeted or random. First blush feels targeted, no reason other than a feeling. Has it been stated how they were killed?

Horrific what the kids saw, my heart hurts for them.
In my opinion LE are withholding the manner of their death.

Really
How do we know this is the guy?
Or maybe a better question is
Under what scenario would this photo have been taken?

a question i have been pondering. If it was a trail cam.. would have got his face too.

that all depends. Many people prefer to wear black for a myriad of reasons. But, avoiding ticks would probably be a priority in this case. But who knows what this person is thinking.
