Deceased/Not Found CO - Aarone Thompson, 4, Aurora, 2003 *A. Thompson guilty*

The guardians of Aarone Thompson, a little girl who is missing and presumed dead by Aurora police, will not be regaining custody of their children, at least at this time, 7NEWS reported.

An Aurora jury determined Wednesday that the children should not be returned to Aarone's father, Aaron Thompson, and his girlfriend, Shely Lowe.

Wow! That all happened quickly.

Wouldn't take me long either to decide that they shouldn't be allowed to raise children. Colorado jurors can obviously see through BS.

That one was a no-brainer!! Glad they won't have the chance to harm another child.

Social service caseworkers portray the couple at the center of the Aarone Thompson case as being uncooperative, deceptive and prone to outbursts, according to a family services document obtained by The Denver Post.

It also reveals that one child, who moved in with the couple in August 2004, told investigators he had never seen Aaroné.

Six-year-old Aarone was reported missing by her father, Aaron Thompson, on Nov. 14. Police on Nov. 17 suspended a search for the girl, saying they believed she had been killed.

And on Wednesday, a county jury unanimously decided the couple was neglectful and shouldn't immediately regain custody of their eight other children.

Wonder what would happen if she got pregnant again?

And I imagine it was during one such "outburst" that Aarone was killed. I'm positive she was also routinely abused and neglected previous to that. This was a targeted child and there are reasons the family was isolated and did not associate with neighbors.

With her record of past abuse of her own children, and this ongoing criminal investigation, it was ridiculous for Shelley or the father to think they would get the children back. I have worked in child abuse myself and even in a "normal" case situation, they would have to meet the requirements of a case plan to get their children back. Being uncooperative, lying to and being angry at the caseworkers is not a good strategy to take to even be considered. But this is typical behavior for people who feel entitled to do whatever they want and do not want to be questioned about how they treat their children. Neither one should ever be able to care for children again, and I don't think they will because they will be in prison!

Hoping we will have answers soon about what happened to little Aarone and that she will get her justice in the end.

I'm so thankful that the kids weren't handed back to this horrible couple. I hope that they are arrested soon for murder. I wonder if the police have any evidence at all.

2 PM - I'm impatient already!

<snip> Sam Riddle, a spokesman for the couple, echoed those thoughts.

"I believe folks are using whatever is at their hands and right now this is one of the last instruments available to law enforcement is a grand jury," Riddle said. "I hope that fairness will prevail and that this grand jury will not be used as the sword simply to secure an indictment." <snip>

I will remind Mr. Riddle here that the statute of limitations for murder never runs out.

<snip> Rev. Acen Phillips, who has ministered to the couple, believes the case is being given to a grand jury because police don't have enough evidence to charge the couple.

"This is another way to extend it and have it out there and have some more loose investigation take place," he said.

Sam Riddle, who has spoken on the couple's behalf, said police "haven't ever come up with anything strong ... to substantiate anything. If they have something, they should bring it." <snip>

These people make me so angry. What about Aarone? Aren't they in the least concerned about her? Or is just about having your name in the paper and your face on TV?

They pulled the wool over his eyes didn't they?

This makes me so sick.

Aurora police asked a grand jury to investigate the disappearance of Aarone Thompson to reveal information presented at a recent custody hearing involving her father and his girlfriend.

Aarone was reported missing in November, but police believe she was killed months before.

Dan Oates, Aurora's police chief, said a grand jury can reveal the secrecy surrounding the testimony and records at Aaron Thompson and Shely Lowe's custody hearing.

"With the grand jury coming up, I believe its going to bring some balance," said Rev. Acen Phillips, Thompson family spokesperson. "I believe they're going to be fair and I think its going to bring some balance. I think Aurora has some great citizens and when they step up to the plate, they're going to take a real hard look at the evidence."

So now they're trying to spin their case in the media . . . :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
