Deceased/Not Found CO - Aarone Thompson, 4, Aurora, 2003 *A. Thompson guilty*

It wouldn't surprise me if that was what she told him. But it doesn't make sense. All the coverup was supposed to be because they didn't want to lose their other children.
But they were under suspicion of murder, no one believed the missing story, and their children were taken away. They would have only benefited if they had come forward with that story (if it had been true). They may have gotten some time for the false report, child endangerment etc. but probably would have gotten their kids back after they served their time. So the story doesn't really make sense.

Three things did stand out in the statement though.
Sexually abused by a sibling- weren't most of the kids pretty young- except for Shelly's brother?
He talks about how Shelly was afraid that Mark would go to jail, that it was all about him. (Guilty conscience??? afraid he would go to jail for what she did?)
And he talks about how it doesn't make sense that she made the preacher and Mark the beneficiary of the life ins. and didn't leave anything to her kids. (does he think he can profit through them?)

Aarone's father, Aaron Thompson, was arrested. A news conference is planned for 4:45PM MT to discuss the charges.

Just a quick statement:

Court appearance tomorrow, then the charges against Thompson will probably be revealed.

Thompson held on $500,000 bond.

Some news agencies are reporting he was initially charged with felony cruelty to a child, but the charges will not be officialy announced until tomorrow.

9Wants to Know has learned Aurora Police arrested Aaron Thompson, the father of Aarone Thompson, Wednesday afternoon on the felony charge of cruelty towards a child.

His bond was set at $500,000.

A grand jury has been investigating Aarone's murder case for a year.

It's about time. Next, arrest the minister, he knows a lot more than he's telling too! (IMO)

Awesome news..and I'll bet Shelley has met ultimate justice now.

FINALLY. I didn't think this day was ever going to come. Why not murder?
I guess we will find out more tomorrow. Hope he is put away for a long time.

It's about time. I'm not a bit suprised though. If the girlfriend had not died, she would be arrested too. We'll see what happens now. I imagine because no body has been found, they have to use a lesser charge right now.

The arrest warrant says he is being held on the felony charge of cruelty towards a child causing death.

"It's much easier to prove child abuse resulting in death. You don't have to prove after deliberation. You don't have to prove anything except willful or knowledgeable conduct causing the death of a child under the age of 12 by a person of trust," said Robinson.

I knew I had heard "death" last night on the news. The article says that the rest of the grand jury report is sealed right now. Maybe we'll hear more real soon.

I am so glad a move has finally been made. No one had seen Arone for over two years, in spite of her father and stepmother saying she just ran away when they reported her missing.

The father of missing Aarone Thompson was informed this morning that he has been indicted on 60 counts related to the disappearance of his little girl 18 months ago.

The most serious of the charges he faces, according to Arapahoe County Distrist Attorney Carol Chambers, is child abuse resulting in death. That charge, by itself, could result in a sentence of up to 48 years in prison.

Not all of the charges are limited to Aarone, who was 6 when her father reported her as a runaway, Chambers said, but she declined to elaborate.

Prosecutors plan to release a heavily-redacted version of the grand jury indictment later today. Chambers indicated the documents will include information only about the charges Thompson faces, not the factual basis for them or the names of the alleged victim or victims.

She said she was keeping that information private because there are significant facts that have not been broadcast or published. She told reporters those facts should remain withheld until trial so that the case could be tried here.

The other kids were abused in some way too. That has to be it for them to say other victims/victim. I would imagine that at some point the other kids came to trust the people who had been working with them and maybe told what their lives had been like with those two killers. I would bet that some of the kids were also well aware of what happened to that little girl and who did it. I wonder how those kids are doing now. I hope and pray that they are with people who give them love and nurture them and make them feel safe.

I am thinking about composing a timeline from the grand jury indictments and from what has been reported in the media. If I get time, that is. This case still haunts me.

I'm so glad they have finally moved on this case. It really bothered me that Thompson and Lowe were walking around and never held accountable. Lowe is being held accountable by someone else now, and Thompson is finally facing charges. And the rest of the kids are safe.
I wonder if Thompson will try to use the location of Aaronne's body as a part of a plea deal?

I'm glad too. That little girl deserves justice and now she will finally get it. To bad it couldn't bring her back...poor little thing.

It will be interesting to see if Thompson ever admits that he had a part in her death. I'll be surprised if he does but if he thinks it can lessen his time in prison he may just make a deal with the Pros. It will be interesting to see what happens when he goes to trial.
