Douglas police, family searching for veteran missing since June - Casper, WY Oil City News

Untitled-2.png

The Douglas Police Department and the family of Amy Frontiero Needham is asking the public’s assistance in locating Needham, according to a release Saturday from the nonprofit We Help The Missing.

Needham was last known to be in a motel in Burlington, Colorado on June 5, 2021, and had been jumping from motel to motel in Colorado and Nebraska, the release said.

Needham was helping a person going by the name of “Michelle Halle,” who was staying at a facility for victims of domestic violence and told Needham that she, Michelle, needed help hiding form an abusive husband, the release said.

“(Needham) has not been seen or heard from since, which is not like her.” the release said. “She left without any of her personal belongings as well as her dogs, car, and wallet. It is believed that she left under suspicious circumstances.”

Needham is 5’7” tall, weighs 200 pounds with light brown hair and hazel eyes.

Wow - IMO what a strange story. So glad they have a PI working on her case. She was helping out a DV victim and could have easily gotten caught by the hubby. It sounds like a High Risk situation to put yourself in.
I would be curious to know who this Michelle person is and if Needham's cc or bank has been used.

Find Michelle.

I had to read this a couple of times because I was thinking that Amy met 'Michelle' while she was working at a DV shelter but that doesn't seem to be the case. Where /how did they meet?

It sounds like Police and / or family might be suspicious of 'Michelle'... I get that someone running from an abusive spouse might use an alias but it is strange that authorities would give a name. maybe it's just me, I think the wording is A little bizarre.

Police Seek Information About Missing Douglas Woman; Family Worries She's in Danger | Cowboy State Daily
[...]

Needham, the former director of a facility for victims of domestic violence in Douglas, apparently met Halle at the facility.

[...]

The pair reportedly have been staying at various motels throughout Nebraska and Colorado, but Needham has not contacted friends or family members since leaving Douglas ...

Needham also left without taking any personal belongings or her dogs and car, per WHTM private investigator Amanda Waldron, and it is believed that she left under suspicious circumstances.

“This case is very complex, and the back story is long, complicated, part of the investigation and not to be shared publicly,” Waldron said.

Needham is a Casper native who had previously served in the Air Force.

[...]

“Amy is very loved by her friends and family,” Brehe said. “We just want to know she’s okay.”

Why wouldn’t she bring her wallet? Wonder if she took ID or ATM card with her…

Well, if she didn't take her wallet, then "Michelle" must have been paying for all the motel rooms....

It sounds more like a case of folie á deux than one woman protecting the other, IMO.

Even so then where is Amy?

Why do you say that?
This quote from the article @PommyMommy posted above. It sounds like Needham has cut off all contact with family and didn't take her personal belongings. These don't sound like the actions of a domestic violence program director helping a client. I'm wondering if the backstory is that they had more than a director-client relationship. Just speculating, of course.

What?!?! Maybe you know more than we do. From what I have seen, there is no indication of that.

Thank you for the article. Although LE has made contact, it sounds like they still have concerns. MOO

From the article:

[...]

According to Detective Sean Leman of the Douglas Police Department, 41-year-old Amy Frontiero Needham “is alive and well” as confirmed in a Sunday phone call with her and is no longer considered a missing person.

[...]

However, Leman said the case remains active until other information can be corroborated.

[...]

“This case is very complex, and the back story is long, complicated, part of the investigation and not to be shared publicly,” Waldron said.

[...]

“It was a very short call from a burner phone,” Waldron said. “They are still concerned with her well-being and are still trying to make physical contact with her as the call was very concerning.”

She has not reported to a law enforcement agency to verify her information as requested by Leman, Waldron added, and police do not know her actual location.

I wonder if LE is more conservative because its a DV situation - like what if she was forced to make the phone call?

Kudos to you, @cvaldez1975, for doing what you did for your friend. DV can be so very dangerous for the victim, of course, and for those who help.
So glad your friend is in a shelter facility.
