I’ve heard of a few. Friends husbands, etc. They usually make up lies, make thwir wives believe them.

But Barry?

Sure he cheated. But to disappear from your family for days takes a really cold, uncaring soul.
Or a fed up one.
I been married to my husband for 20 plus years.
4 kids , all grown , Kids with serious medical conditions .
I didnt start taking off for days until the kids were grown .
My husband would not be shocked to not see me for a few days and get a call I am in KS ,or Texas .
SC. Love that man.
Nebraska might make him question ,things as would most trips north ,

I have said from the beginning he planned the killing. Didn’t plan it well but it was premeditated for a long time. But I believe he decided to kill her before they left Indiana. I do not think he killed her over the affair. He killed her because he had lost control over her long before and he knew it.

He figured if he could get her to move to Colorado and isolate her in he mountains he could kill her then and inherit all the money for himself. No family or friends to check on her and daughters would fall for it. After all, he was the grieving narcissistic dad and husband. He makes my blood boil.

I have to wonder if he played SD and if she assisted in any way.

I think his co-workers knew in their hearts he killed her even though they had no proof, especially the one who moved far away. I forgot her name. I am sure she kept in very close touch with the sheriff’s office there. You know she has to be thrilled he has been arrested.
Yes. The woman worker he called a meth head, the other one died in the mean time. She knew. She feared him.

I just cannot fathom why he took the risk of burying her somewhere so near a road where someone could have seen him.
I cannot make up my mind whether he expected her to be discovered .
Well, we know she wasn’t killed (or at least did not decay) in those running clothes. He threw them in there to try to make it fit his narrative of her missing while biking. So my thinking is yes, he did expect her to be discovered at some point in time.

Thanks for this link, @Cindizzi , much appreciated !

A little curious as to why he's still in civilian clothing ?

I wonder if he knows his goose is cooked, or if he's gearing up for a big fight and absurdly thinking he'll win this time, too ?
Meh, doubt it, Barry the -- mountain lion/random bushy-haired stranger/local farmer , hunter or rancher/parks and recreation services employee who had BAM/ or somebody else --accuser !
Fingers crossed so hard for (imo) the right outcome.

Thinking about Suzanne's immediate family --brother and sisters & late father, who have grieved for so long and had to watch as his first rodeo ended with him being freed albeit with prejudice (?).
Omo.

Y'all! I'm so excited! KR's trial verdict, the little girl in Canada found alive, and now this. Best string of news I've seen in my time at Websleuths! Can't wait for the trial. Justice for Suzanne!
Sometimes, just sometimes, the good thing that we’ve all been waiting for finally happens.

It’s a good day.

Bbm.
Agreed !
Bet she'll be called to testify ?
Imo.

I can't get past the chirpy cheerleader reading the extradition order to him. She sounds like she's leading a pep rally.

"Good evening! Welcome to Maricopa County Jail, Mr. Morphew! Do you know why we're here today? Looks like Colorado wants you back for charges related to...let's see here...murder!"

In comparison, Barry sounds rather subdued. Resigned, even.

Welcome to the rest of your miserable existence.
Can you imagine the feeling he had when he saw the flashing red lights and knowing he was being pulled over?

Defense Strategy the Second Time Around?
.... They have purchase records that show Barry purchased BAM in 2018, just months before moving to Colorado.

No private citizens or businesses purchased BAM in surrounding counties had purchased BAM in a few years leading up to the murders. Only Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the National Park Service received prescriptions during that time. Barry was the only private citizen in the entire area to possess this chemical.....

@MassGuy Thanks for link & your analysis, but is another explanation possible?

Def' Closing Argument:
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, a mountain lion (previously roaming in an urban area and captured by CO. Parks & Wildlife for rehoming into the wild) broke into the dept's locked drug storage next to its enclosure, and absconded w syringe of BAM. The mountain lion then escaped then found & pedalled a bicycle along US 50 to the Puma Path home. In BM's absence, the mountain lion injected SM w BAM, causing her death.

Clear as day to me. Or something similarly plausible. /s

See you guys always make me regret not following a case.

He must know his goose is indeed well and truly cooked.
I wondered why he was in civilian clothes and not shackled or even wearing handcuffs.

According to this news report, the autopsy report says that clothing found with the remains included a sweatshirt with the words “Crested Butte” on it, a Nike tank top, and Yeti shorts.
Suzanne wearing her “Crested Butte” sweatshirt in 2019.

But the thing is, Suzanne didn't decompose naturally IMO. He treated her start to finish like property, prey and a prized mount, he no longer prized (because she'd had enough and prized herself, not him).

He sped up the decomposition process with chemicals, clearly.

Maybe the ME's report with spell it out but IMO, he could have destroyed her tissue overnight, moved her in the first days.

Out in Moffat, nothing left for wildlife to forage, except chemically treated bones.

That man did more than abuse a corpse. I'd say he desecrated it... but he didn't. He desecrated himself.

And you can never wash that off.

BBM - I believe that pool chemicals and bleach would speed up the decomp process. I wonder if he had her in a cooler with chemicals? (Horrible thoughts to post) Recalling the hotel room was in disarray and smelled of bleach. All JMO

Or less brutal, he thought cancer would kill her so he had gotten a headstart counting and spending her chickens.

Whatever careful plan he might have had, it went out the window at AT's break neck static drift speed. He was utterly out of control when he pulled up that afternoon.
