Found Deceased CO - BARRY ARRESTED AGAIN - Suzanne Morphew, 49, Chaffee Co, 10 May 2020 *Case dismissed w/o prejudice* *found in 2023* #117

I think he brought the BAM with him when he moved from Indiana.

"Several people told investigators that before moving to Colorado in 2018, Barry was a deer farmer in Indiana, where he used BAM to sedate deer, the indictment said."

JMO
Yes he admitted to it during the first go around. Brought it with him from that deer farm he and his rich friend ran in Indiana.

Admittedly, I have forgot many things over the years in this case. Did we know this (bold) ?

Law enforcement specifically requested that the coroner's office test for the presence of butorphanol, azaperone and medetomidine, which comprise a chemical mixture known as BAM that is used for sedating animals, according to the indictment.

Prior to moving to Colorado in 2018, Barry Morphew was a deer farmer in Indiana and used BAM to sedate and transport deer on his farm, according to the indictment. He allegedly admitted to using BAM in Colorado as recently as April 2020 to tranquilize a deer on his property, according to the indictment.

According to the indictment, records of BAM prescriptions showed that Barry Morphew last purchased BAM by prescription in March 2018, and that no individual or business in the Colorado region where the Morphews lived and where Suzanne Morphew's remains were found had purchased BAM prescriptions from 2017 to 2020.

Fairly new to this thread, so I apologize if this has been mentioned; however, do we think it is possible that BM hired someone to eliminate SM? The DNA evidence of the unknown man found in the Range Rover, on the helmet, and bike had committed crimes in Arizona and Chicago. Many areas of Indiana are close to Chicago, and BM was arrested in Arizona this week. It seems plausible that BM would supply the BAM, hired bad guy lies in wait in the backseat of her Range Rover, and attacks SM long after BM had left town.

This is all MOO/IMO, of course.
NO

The Daily Mail has an exclusive interview with Shoshona Darke, which is very interesting.

Her relationship with Barry fizzled in 2024, and the BAM revelation seems to have ended it.

She alludes to emotional abuse and controlling behavior.

She does say that Barry is a good father, and his daughters have likely not seen that side of him.

They continue to be supportive, which is no surprise.

She could be a very important prosecution witness, which is something I’ve long predicted.

It’s behind a paywall so I can’t post it.

You've got it a bit confused. The "unknown DNA" found in the glove box was a PARTIAL match to two men in CODIS. CODIS only uses some 16-18 markers within the genome for its matches. The men were determined not to be involved. Some of the glovebox DNA was traced to an undetermined person of Chinese nationality (the person who put the owner's manual in the glove box, most likely).

Similarly, the helmet and bike were touched by manufacturers, packers, unpackers, salespeople and, of course, the guy in Salida who was about to fix her bike (and may have sold her the helmet). There's going to be DNA on various objects. One would expect Barry's DNA to be on those items as well, if he ever admired her helmet, etc.

At any rate, this isn't a very DNA-driven case. Most spousal murders are not. This is about the one man in all of Colorado who was known to have purchased a deer tranquilizer, BAM; admitted to possessing it; was seen disposing of related items in videos from parking lots on his run to Broomfield and whose drier had a tranq dart and the shorts he was seen wearing that day.

Plus, of course, the frantic movements of his body (and his admission that he had a tranq gun) during the time that it is thought Suzanne ceased living. Her phone then traveled briefly with him while he inexplicably drove around at various times during the night and then headed to Broomfield (turning her phone off at some point while she remained where ever her killer at stored her body on that Mother's Day).

Could he have had help? That's a viable question. But the "stranger DNA" leads led nowhere.

IMO.

This should work, assuming I’m allowed to post it here: https://archive.ph/2025.06.24-01292...y-Morphew-doubt-innocence-Suzanne-murder.html

You must be brand spanking new but you do have old info on the dna so maybe not
This is the second arrest for Barry

There was a first go around you may want to read up on - I am sure that 100 page plus original arrest affadavit is probably on the media thread or bouncing around somewhere.
There is also lots of background info already posted.

Barry had a very savy attack dog lawyer out of Denver - Iris - and not even Iris or her private eye could unearth the slightest real hint of some other dude

Remember it was Mothers Day - even criminals/killers for hire take that day off - grab a bouquet at the local supermarket and take good ole Mom to the Cheesecake Factory

Did you happen to read the recent arrest warrant- your dna issue doesn't exist - thats yesterdays news. Its a red herring and has no traction

The only other guy it could have been is "Lee Moore" but turns out he's Barry Lee so no there is no other bad guy - just the Killer husband

Heya, Barry. Quick question -- that deer you tranquilized in April, what'd you use to shoot the dart?

How comes you didn't still have it?

Or did you chase that deer too?

Oh, dear.

Great info - she is still tight with the girls if not so much with Barry Lee.
I am glad she got away in one piece

Read back a ways, that subject has been debunked in the new AA.

The first arrest affidavit from May 2021

In May of 2020 he says he’s never tranquillized deer in Colorado

In March of 2021 he charges his story to fit the evidence Grusing tells him about.

There isn't much to that article that we don't already know.
Shoshona says she broke it off with him after the BAM report, and that he was abusive, but not physically.
She believes the girls think he really is innocent because they have never seen that side of him, just loving, doting father.

Agreed, but I didn't know they'd broken it off in 2024.

JMVHO.

BTW, I'm starting a new Justice part to the Case Archive, (yeah coming out of retirement)
but it hasn't got much yet.

For people who need a refresher, I saved everything. Although it's a rabbit hole.

I think it’s the first time we have ever heard anything from Sho on the subject of her relationship with Barry or at all, so I thought it was a good read and food for thought.
I have always wondered if she was a victim or accomplice. With her background as a trauma nurse I can see how she attracts the stray type narcissist and is maybe more of a victim and perhaps an unwitting enabler. I bet she knows more than she thinks she does.
The fact she agreed to wear the Suzanne wig at the Antler - I’d like to know how she agreed to that. Just under his spell ?
She referred to Barry as a broken man. I think he was always broken but I am wondering if even more so since the killing.

Listening to him at his extradition hearing he did sound meek and broken. Surprisingly so.
He’s almost 60 now - and looks washed up. No more Botox in the forehead and his hair looks like a home dye job.

It’s foolish talk on my part but I wonder if he’d take an Alford plea to spare the girls and his elderly the trial.

Nah.
