Murder Charges Dropped Against Leland Pankey, Father Of Dead Boy Found In Denver Storage Unit

January 9, 2020 at 10:07 pm
DENVER (CBS4)– The father of a 7-year-old boy whose body was found in a Denver storage unit has pleaded guilty under a deal with prosecutors. Forty-year-old Leland Pankey pleaded guilty Thursday to child abuse resulting in death and tampering with a deceased body in the death of Caden McWilliams.

But prosecutors dropped a murder charge against him. His wife also previously pleaded guilty in the boy’s death.

Now wondering what case #D162018CR9761 is about regarding the status hearing on 2/28 is for?

NO murder charges for parents of ‘model student’ little boy found dead in concrete-filled dog kennel

January 10, 2020

Denver District Attorney Beth McCann explained in court documents that they sought the plea deal because it would be hard to convict Leland Pankey of first-degree murder without an exact cause of death. McCann also said they did not want to traumatize the victim’s family with a trial.

Elisha Pankey pleaded guilty in August to child abuse resulting in death. Her sentencing date is pending.

Leland Pankey faces between 17 and 72 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for February 28.

Woohoo that's gives me some solace knowing that LP will be leaving prison toes up in a pine box! It doesn't bring back this innocent boy, but at least justice was served for him.

Next up...…..EP, hopefully she leaves prison in a pine box too!

#RIPCaden
