The body of a man believed to be experiencing homelessness was found along the west bank of the South Platte River by a cleaning crew on Feb. 22, 2002.

The man was described as:

  • Possibly Hispanic or Native American
  • 50-60 years old
  • 5 feet 8 inches tall
  • 110 pounds
  • Gray hair with stubble on face
  • No front teeth
  • No tattoos or scars

Circumstances of Discovery
The victim was located near a pedestrian bridge on the bank of the South Platte River, south of 6th Avenue and near the Denver Wastewater Management Building. He was found in a shelter constructed of tree branches and twigs and may have resided at that location for some time.

His Doe Network page still says he’s unidentified. Are we waiting on a confirmation possibly?
It takes a bit for Doe Network to mark UIDs as identified. He is not marked as identified on Denver ME’s webpage either.


Still, I’m hopeful that he’s been identified as the resolved cases for Colorado has gone up by one case and his is the only profile removed. Fingers crossed.
 
He was identified as Earnest McClanahan, 71, of Texas per Denver ME’s webpage.
