Mark Redwine's murder trial is in 12th day. Lots of talk about Molly the Cadaver Dog as court winds its way through the 3rd week. Here's a potpourri of info

Trial questions answered: Who pays for those suits? Do jurors go home at night? What happened to the lights?

Apparently Carren thinks she’s amazing too. I teared up when the prosecution put the photo up of Molly and she got emotional.

The jurors can believe that Molly was 100% accurate and still wonder if the source of the odor of human decomp came from an innocent source and not Dylan Redwine's dead body. JMO

I agree with this. While I’m convinced of Mark’s guilt at this point, a couple of things seemed like valid arguments, at least to a lay person. Shoe coverings not worn in the house by LE and the handler, and Molly not being bathed between going up to the vehicles that had verified human remains in them and going to Mark’s house. I think the defense did a good job (I admit, I hate to type that) hammering home those points in attempt to create doubt in the jury as to Molly’s alerts.

Came in to the trial late---but glad I missed it because they were both still questioning and recrossing the Dog Lady---over and over about the reliability of cadaver dogs.

This is where I am at with it----it is just one more small piece of a larger puzzle. Dylan went missing from that living room. He never answered any texts and never reached out to anyone.

There was a small amount of blood under the rug --which is odd and makes it seem like the rest was cleaned up. And the phones were mapped in their movements, making it appear that Dylan's phone was turned off that night in the area of the cabin about 10 pm. And then Maerk's cell was on and moving around all night.

So with all of the above info, it makes sense that a trained certified cadaver dog would hit on the living room area and the truck I wouldn't base a man's life on ONLY that report by the dog handler. But added to every thing else, it seems consistent.

There was a motive that seems powerful---Mark had a history of threatening to kill his children when he was angry at their mothers. And Mark was very bitter and resentful of Elaine, and angry at his sons for humiliating him about his sick fetish. And Dylan was at a volatile age where he wasn't going to be the polite, compliant child anymore. If Mark began insulting Elaine, I am sure Dylan would push back and I think Mark would snap if that happened.

So this whole thing boils down to looking at the details of the bigger picture. And the cadaver dog, Molly, is just one more potential clue.

helped search Middle Mountain Road

exhibit 503---map of his search

waited for snow to melt---organized team--

contacted defendant--informed him of search on middle mt---left phone messages and emails

didnt hear back from mark for awhile---eventually he reached him and mArk said...

Objection from defense--side bar...

mark said he had dropped his cell in sink and it stopped working...

Elaine and family came to help search

search found no backpack or cell or iPad or hat

found shoe, sock, some clothing scraps and some human remains

he asked mark to return to look at some items found--

Did you run Molly through a test? Yes, there were 12 vehicles in the lot and 2 had contained dead bodies at one time.

where did you stand when she brought in the dog?

I stood at the entrance, away from the vehicles...

Did Molly alert on those 2 vehicles, correctly?

Yes, she did.

one was a suicide victim, self inflicted gunshot in vehicle, a year prior

the other was a mini van, death a year prior, a female died of drug OD--had not been in car long---body still warm and no rigorous, no smell

ohhh, this is where and when the fishing pole was 'found' in mark's garage.

Defense---it had been obscured by the ATV, so that is how it was found.

D- when the dog handler came to Middle Mt, she was told where the remains had been found already, correct.

yes, we weren't asking her to find the location of his remains already found.

Ok, I'm going here...again. But today, during cross of Molly's handler, the defense was really pushy on the idea of the dog confusing the chemical compound of methane gas. I immediately thought of cows emitting the same, and was hysterically laughing to myself re: the defense ploy and 'our' interpretation of the dastardly gang of dancing, stomping and beer guzzling cows...now emitting the deadly smelling methane gas...which confused poor Molly. Onward though, to the case at hand

While we wait-There was a costly study done some time ago on just how much methane gas cows pass. I will never forget it as the reporter was struggling to keep a straight face. Carry on......

February 2014 Cowing calls MR to bring in his truck. MR was in Farmington New Mexico. Defense wants to bring in that MR was being surveilled and both CO and NM LE followed him back. Asks when a GPS was installed on truck.
