GUILTY CO - Dylan Nicholas Redwine, 13, Vallecito, 19 Nov 2012 *father arrested* #5

Did the judge tell the victims to "be quiet" when the verdict came down?

Loved the reaction in the courtroom. He is an evil man. Hell should exist for him. I bet he hacked up his son. <modsnip>
RIP Dylan
I am not sure that was the victim's family. It was a loud groan---sounded more like someone upset---not a happy sigh of relief.

I am thinking it was someone from Mark's side of the court room?

There’s much more in this article. I just snipped a few quotes of EH. Heartbreaking photo of DR’s buddy, Ryan.
True testament to the person Dylan was even at the young age of 13 that he will forever impact everyone who knew him. Rest In Peace Dylan. Justice has Come Down.https://www.durangoherald.com/articles/dylans-mother-says-she-never-gave-up-fighting-for-justice/

Elaine Hall said Friday’s guilty verdict is the end of one chapter and the beginning of another – but it doesn’t bring closure.

“We're never going to have closure because you can't have closure when a piece of your life and your heart is missing," Hall said Friday outside the La Plata County Courthouse.
Family friends described Hall as a pillar of strength throughout the yearslong effort to seek justice. But Hall shrugged it off, saying she did what came naturally.

“You really have no choice when your child goes missing and is subsequently found murdered,” Hall said. “I mean, what are you supposed to do? You can't just roll over in your bed and ignore the world. You have to fight, and that's what we did."
Hall spent nearly five weeks in the courtroom with her ex-husband, but she said she didn’t notice anything remarkable about Redwine’s demeanor or his reaction to Friday’s verdict.

And she doesn’t try to understand what he might be thinking.

"You can't get in the mind of someone crazy like that,” she said. “There’s no logic. There’s nothing. He looked just like he did when Dylan went missing. Mark has always been worried about one person, and that’s Mark, and that will never change."

Hall said it was a complicated case with a mountain of evidence. Even she learned new details about the investigation sitting through the five-week trial, she said.

I’ve followed this from the beginning and I’m elated that Dylan has finally got justice. My thoughts are with Dylan’s family.
May Dylan rest in peace.
Does anyone think his murder was pretty meditated? I remember reading at the beginning that Mark was angry about child support?

I’ve listened to it several times and I think it was DR family and supporters giving a collective “ yes., thank god., hallelujah “ although you don’t hear those words. I don’t think the Defendant had anyone there .. or not enough people to make that amount of noise. JMO

First time I heard the Judge say Be quiet please I thought it was kinda harsh, but remember this was the verdict on count one and he still had count two to read. I’m sure he was anticipating some emotional outbursts. I was, too. Dylan’s warriors showed restraint and class as usual. IMO

I think the answer lies in the hate that he had for Elaine and the children. I think all he wanted was to hurt Elaine and he managed hurt her in the worst way possible. A pain she will never recover from. But she's an amazingly strong woman. I hope he rots.
In some way...can we create a bubble of light and love around this family.
You have deserved some semblance of peace from day one.
Please know that there are hundreds of us behind you......you are never alone.

If by premeditated you mean did he pre-plan it or even think about it, I don’t know. I won’t even hazard a guess to how his mind works. He was hell bent and obsessed with hurting EH and making her pay for whatever slights he thought she caused him. He could no longer control her or his other son CR. Now Dylan had lost all respect for him and didn’t want anything to do with him. They didn’t charge him with First Degree Murder which is premeditated with intent to kill because IMO it would be harder to prove.

But they did charge him and CONVICT him of 2nd degree murder because he knowingly caused DR death. He KNEW that his physical attack would result in death.

To me, the fact that he let his child lay out there and never to this day owned up to it is worse than pre-planning it.

Elain made it clear they were going to let their hair down tonight.
So did I.....
Why not celebrate?!!!
I hope in true remarkableness that Elaine and others have the best hangover ever!!
I know I will! Whoo hoo!
It's been long time coming!!!
Bam!
** (See what I have never shared... is I lived just south of Durango. One of my closest friends has a son, he was close friends of Dylan's. I too have been in Durango, I too had been in the ruggedness of Mark's home area. Searching is a selfless work...
I am celebrating tonight and it means a great deal to me to do so!)

I haven't been able to watch due to work but what great news to wake up to! I don't think any of us doubted a guilty verdict, it's taken too long to arrive but there it is, finally!! GUILTY!

The tick has tocked MR! There's no escape from justice! You did it Dylan <3

I'm so happy for Elaine and Corey, let your hair down, yeah!!

I hope a juror (or multiple jurors) does an interview about this. It would be so interesting to get their opinion on the evidence, how deliberations went, if anyone was on the fence, etc. However, I’m most interested in why they asked their questions to the judge. I can’t remember where I read it (a couple of places) but they had already reached their verdict before asking the questions, so why ask them? This probably isn’t it, but I’d love for it to be because they wanted to give Mark a false sense of hope before delivering his final blow ;)

I hope Mark doesn’t try and taunt them from Jail now and goes quietly.

I know some killers like to reveal little details of their crime to continue the pain and suffering and to feel like they are still in control.
It appears that the Prosecution had a couple of jailhouse informants willing to testify at one time. Last November 2020, The Judge issued an Order that the Defense not be allowed to call them snitches . One of them initials JC was still on the witness list filed in May 2021.
MR’s been locked up for 4 years. I wonder what those guys could have testified to.

Tiptoeing into Dylan's thread to say YIPPEE!! I was formerly DylansMom34 (my son Dylan was 11 when Dylan Redwine went missing in 2012, and is now 20)! My first post on Dylan's thread was on November 20, 2012 and I was a regular contributor for quite awhile. For various reasons, I stopped posting on WS but I suppose it's all water under the bridge at this point and all that matters is long-awaited justice for Dylan. So much has happened in all these years and yesterday was such a relief. I am so relieved for Dylan's family, his loved ones, everyone who has searched, investigated, hoped, prayed, etc. The prosecutors did such a great job. I don't really have anything else to contribute but since I posted on the first day Dylan's thread opened on WS, I felt compelled to post on the day after Dylan's horrible killer was finally convicted!
