"The dogs did hit on the boat at the lake?" Help, I have totally missed that... I thought the dogs hit at a lake but not hit on a specific boat that was at the lake??? Is that correct? Was it the dads boat?


I'm sorry guys I'm really trying to keep up here but if that's true I've totally missed it.

I think the dogs were "on a boat" when they hit a scent at the lake. Not a scent on a boat. It was really confusing wording IMO.

IIRC, if an atty knows his/her client is guilty, I think the only action they are allowed to pursue at that point is the best plea bargain possible?
Its one thing to defend someone who is presumed innocent until proven guilty. But if someone confesses they are guilty, how else could they proceed?

The few cases I recall from many years ago, the case will go to the sentencing phase quickly?
Terri Schunick's case might be a good avenue of info regarding that, since her killer confessed.

I don't believe that to be accurate. Even if a client confesses, lawyer can still defend him. After all, the lawyer can just provide "reasonable" doubt, he or she doesn't have to argue that the client is innocent. A lawyer doesn't have to prove their client innocent, just not guilty by providing "reasonable doubt."

That is a mistake. The dogs did not hit on a boat. They were in a boat and hit on the surface of the water. I saw that statement too but it is in error, imo.

Usually I don't weigh in until more facts are known...
and these are just my "gut feelings"; not based on any known facts or anything...but..
for some reason, I just feel that the dad is being truthful... I can picture in my mind a beautiful young thirteen year old guy wanting to immediately go and see his friends when he arrives in his old neighbourhood - only to be too tired to go. His dad probably suggested that he could get him there early the next day (to make up for lost time- make it seem more like a sleep over etc..) but he noted that his little guy was still tired and let him sleep...
When Dylan awoke he really wanted to see his friends (no cell was available) so he thought he could just hitch there (his dad already being out and about).... (I can't believe I am suggesting this, except for the fact that where I live it is often times acceptable (at least to the kids involved) to occasionally hitch a ride)...
I really can see that this might have ended badly .... and the dad is not at fault..
In any case..praying and hoping for Dylan's safe return...

I just wanted to thank you for your opinion as that is what I love about being apart of WS's. It's great to see how we each can express our feelings and interpretations of the facts as we see them. Even if we differ in views, I'm glad that we can do so with respect to another. Thanks for posting your thoughts.

On the FindDylan FB run by the family, there is an updated explanation, sadly.

There had been a small string of sightings by neighbors and the mail carrier and others, and they thought Dylan was out and about. But they figured out that there is another kid who looks a lot like Dylan who lives in Vallecito. And they found out the sightings were actually this kid, not Dylan.

People reported seeing him walking but all of those reports turned out to be unsubstantiated. (There is another older boy at the lake who looks similar to Dylan)

EVERYBODY - STOP and think about what you are posting. You are accusing this man of all kinds of things without any back up.

KNOCK IT OFF. Either link it or save it until there is something to link. No more posting about alcohol, mental issues or violent behaviors until there is something to base it on. The mom NEVER said MR was violent - she implied, but she NEVER said he beat her or the boys. If that was the case - she would have put it out there. So... watch where your speculation goes and be prepared to link it up or miss a couple of days of posting privileges.

I'm glad Salem posted this - every time I check in on this thread at the moment I feel I must have missed MR being officially declared a POI/suspect. Being in a different time zone I'm always strugglnig to keep up.. be helpful if every couple of pages someone could say "x is a suspect" or "LE haven't named anyone yet" so I can skip over some stuff... :twocents:

Extremely difficult. Easier to refer to another lawyer, if the plea entered is not guilty.

I wonder what kind of sonar they used for the lake search. I found Gene Ralston who conducts lake searches for drowning victims, using a one-side scan sonar.

He's also volunteered his expertise and equipment in the past to help victims' families. If ever there were a time when his help was needed, I believe this is one of them.

Would phone logs show if he was trying and failing to text on Monday? I do not believe he would have set out without at least making many attempts, and more as he walked.

According to what Sgt Bender said on NG, and what was said on the family FB,
Dylans phone was turned off on Sunday AND NEVER TURNED BACK ON.


That is what niggles at me the most. Because even if he didn't have service, he would at least turn it on and check in the morning, imo. Or play some games or look up numbers to use the landline--something.

Yes, but they didn't confess to their lawyer. Defending a murderer that confessed to his lawyer...that lawyer would be going in with one hand tied behind his back.

Lawyers don't want to know if their client did it, they never ask. If client confesses yes it's covered by privilege. But then the lawyer can not call the alibi witness the murderer had all lined up. It's easier to refer the client that confesses and instruct the client how privilege works.

I hesitate to jump on the "guilty parent" band wagon on this. Why isn't it possible that Dylan woke up after dad left and tried to get to a friends house? Why isn't it possible that some monster (because you websluethers KNOW they are out there!) didn't pick him up? Why isn't it possible that he took his belongings because he was hoping to stay with this friend for a while, even his pole so they could go fishing? If he was visiting dad and had only been there overnight, his things would maybe still be packed....so he just grabbed the whole backpack instead of picking out a few things. My 14 year old would totally do that and not waste time going thru his pack....he'd just grab stuff and go.

Yes he is the one that searched for Laci Peterson, iirc. He use to post here I believe at one time or it may have been another site.

I am sure this is the same type of sonar they are using.
