Yes, I do. I just call mine an iPod, that's what it says on the back of the device.

I'm going to say not necessarily, but this is very much jmo. Some of my more techy friends get offended if you call their iPads "iPods", but they're snobby anyway. Thinking quickly through the specific language I hear used, iPod is more often used for the more traditional music only. Or they say "nano" "shuffle" "classic",.. I think LE might say iPod vs. iPad. Either way, whatever the heck it is, I hope it gleans something helpful.

The problem I have with the theory of him roaming outside to try to pick up cell reception is would he really take his backpack with him? I just don't think that's feasible. And the fishing pole? You're saying maybe the fishing pole was already missing and Dad didn't know? Why would you think that? Doesn't anyone else think it's strange that Dad said the fishing pole was missing? Unless Dylan had talked about going fishing or was an avid fisherman why would Dad even think to check on the pole? Surely he didn't keep it in his house??

I knew I'd forget to put something in there. He goes out to find a spot to send a text sayin he was on his way, and maybe to try to find a ride. He would take it with him if he didn't plan to go back before heading out.

No definitely not 911! That can get you an ambulance, fire truck, or LE officer, but not phone numbers - cell or otherwise.

Obviously that was a typo. But, thanks for clarify for me.

I think a large number of us that own apple products are "snobby" about how they are identified. Someone that isn't into the whole I-scene is more likely to identify them in general terms.

Geez - I go to the gym and there's another 5 pages here.
I'm off to the grocery then home to make dinner.
I bet we'll be on thread #9 by then.

I think Verizon. I didn't know 411 could be used on landlines, I thought it was an old school cell thing from before cells had data plans. My early phones had 411 for sure, and I used verizon at that point.

Omg I'm getting really old! Thud

But his phone has been completely off (either battery dead or removed) since Sunday at 8 PM, so why would he be outside looking for a cell signal? He wouldn't know if there was one with a dead cell phone.

Again not saying I believe this is what happened, but I do try to think through possible scenarios. I can see him taking the backpack (and maybe the fishing pole too if fishing was among his plans with his friends) if he thought, "I need to walk somewhere to get cell reception, and Dad should be on his way home soon. I'll start walking and meet him along the way, then I can jump in the car, and Dad can take me to my friends."

And then something bad happening before he got to a spot where he had cell reception, or met up with his dad.

Just a thought, trying to tie all things together.

Very true... all I know is that I have an iPod, I call it an iPod, I don't particularly care what anyone else calls it, and I love my iPod.
And that sentence sure has alot of "I's"!!

I agree that this is a possible scenario. This scenario has him supposedly leaving with a fishing pole. So if we are to assume there was a fishing pole, that it is missing and that it is missing with Dylan, where would Dylan most likely be going in order to use that fishing pole? Did he get picked up on his way to his friends house, do his friends live close to a fishing spot, was he really headed to the lake by his dad's, did he get picked up before he got to the lake or did he actually make it to the lake to hook up with friends and something happened there? These are my questions. It hasn't been reported to my knowledge that he had plans with his friends to go fishing, and I'm just curious if that is something that Dylan regularly did (fishing, etc.) and how frequently and who he usually would fish with. Just my thoughts...

It sure seems to me that his mother was on top of things and paid attention to his safety (from what we heard). I am sure she would have checked that he had his charger so he could contact her.

I like to think I'm very on top of things, I would say I am more than most. I would have no need to check, ask or remind my son about his cell phone and charger.....

I believe LE is saying the phone has not even been turned on since 8pm Sunday night. He wouldn't be searching for service if it wasn't turned on. If there was no service in the area would they be able to tell if it had been turned on or not? I know they specifically said no pings since 8pm Sunday.

I'm a little behind, but re: 13 being too old for nickelodeon- no way. 13 is not an older teen, it's JUST the next number after 12. My kids, and their peers, of that age still watch young programming such as that. Phineas and Ferb is one of their favorite shows. Legend of Korra? Followed by MOSTLY kids over 13. I follow it! Nick & Nite is very popular with teens for all the throwbacks.

Not all kids are in a huge rush to grow up and act older... 13 isn't a magic "too big for cartooons" age.

I'm just a lurker on this thread and a little behind, sorry! But I just wanted to add that I'm almost 21 and I still watch Nickelodeon most mornings. I love the 2 hours of Spongebob :D

Then , if it happened like that, there IS evidence that Dylan was there Sun. night. And why didn't MR produce the spoon/cereal bowl for the tracking dogs ? Then Dylans' mom wouldn't have had to bring clothes for the sar dogs.
Just saying.

Clothes would be much better scent articles than something a person ate out of.
He would probably not leave much of his scent on a cereal bowl or spoon, since it takes just minutes to eat a bowl of cereal, but since he may have worn a shirt for hours, it would have a stronger scent.

I wonder what kind of phone he has. If we are talking iPhone then removing the battery isn't a simple thing to do.

Agreed. Just because someone (mom OR dad) says something, doesn't make it factual. Until it comes out by LE or MSM that it is a fact (i.e. that Dylan stayed overnight and that he was definitely there in the morning before dad left, etc. etc.), I think it is wise to consider any other possibilities outside the box, specifically since there was no phone activity after 8:00 p.m. Sunday night. That's where I think the wheels need to begin spinning...from 8:00 p.m. Sunday night on... JMO

I definitely don't think what Mom or Dad says is fact. What I'm saying is either Dad did something to him, an abductor got him, an animal got him, there was an accident or he ran away. If he was taken by an abductor in the middle of the night why would Dad lie and say he nudged him in the morning? It's one or the other not both. If the abductor theory is true and Dad lied about seeing Dylan in the morning that would mean that Dad was in cahoots with the abductor. You see what I mean?

We do know that his cell phone was not used after 8 pm Sunday night. (For all we know he dropped it in the toilet after that.)

We do not know if there was a computer on the premises. If there was, we do not know if it had wi-fi, which would be needed for an iPod, iPad, iPhone or any other i product.

If there was a computer on the premises, MAYBE it was password protected and Dylan didn't have the password to email anyone on the old hardlined, cable internet.

Just because we don't KNOW something doesn't mean LE doesn't KNOW it. What appears NEW to us, may not necessairly be NEW to LE. This latest interview to me is filling in some blanks of things we had discussed earlier but didn't know the answers to. Now we have a few answers, so we spend more time tearing it up and asking more questions, accusing him of making up new things, when he could have told LE this stuff from the beginning and WE are just finding out about it.

Wal-Mart, McDonald's can be easily verified if it's true. We don't know if LE already HAS verified it or not.

The text messages that were sent. LE probably already has a dump of all those as well as any phone calls made from the landline. Not everything needs to be complicated.

Now, I had wondered if there are any old uncapped wells or mines in the area he could have gone to.

Dad must have a cell phone because he said he "tried" to text DR on Monday. The Ipod could belong to Dad for music-listening only (I have the iPad, iPhone and iPod). Depends on how old the IPod is -- newer versions have wi-fi (mine doesn't - I use it strictly for music).

Everything boils down to whether Dad is telling the truth. If he hasn't, then we know what the answer is; if he is being truthful, then LE needs to ascertain this and move forward. It seems to me this case cannot budge until the events of Sunday pm are verified.

I have such a hard time considering a parent could harm/murder his/her child for ANY reason. My mind won't go there in this case. Even if Dad somehow harmed Dylan, I hope that he would have manned up in the beginning. However, the circumstances as we know them look very bad for Dad, and Dylan, of course. I pray that the obvious isn't what occurred. This is heartbreaking.

Where are you, Dylan ?
