Can they call her 17 year old daughter to the stand at trial and make her testify? She'll more than likely be 18 by then.

Have they been able to interview HH (her 17 yr old daughter) since they would need parental consent (I think) to interview her?
Actually, I'm not positive about that.

I will add, I feel extremely sorry for her daughter. She must be in shock!
Her daughters life has been forever changed...let’s hope she is doing the right thing going forward with good counsel...both legally & emotionally.

I understand that sleuthers may propose scenarios that we don’t all agree with, but I think it unfair to take jabs at them and attack their theories. I don’t believe acid was used in this case. I don’t believe she had the time or resources. It is not outside the realm of possibility, even if it isn’t the theory I would think occurred.

However, none of these murders occurred in Mexico, they aren’t from the movies, and suggesting the possibility isn’t ‘insane’. It can and does happen, and yes, it happens in the US. Real life is sometimes worse than the movies, sadly. The Tricia Todd case haunted me. Case references below.

I’m behind here. Spring fever. Glorious day. Anyway, I think I remember reading earlier about using pigs as a method of disposal. There is a case here of a little boy whose body was never found. James Rex Clark was suspected of feeding Colton to the pigs. I’m not sure how/if that played into the convictions. It’s been such a very long time. Colton disappeared at the same time my little brother did and he lived in the next county over. Each time I placed a poster for my brother, I placed one for Colton. He holds a very special place in my heart. Along with Lucas Hernandez and Gannon Stauch.

Rebecca Faith Clark and her husband, James Rex Clark, were each sentenced to life in prison in 2017 after being convicted of first-degree murder and child abuse in the disappearance of Colton Clark from their home.

Colton Clark and his 9-year-old brother were the Clarks' nephews and were adopted after being removed from the custody of their biological parents.
Deceased/Not Found - OK - Colton Clark, 9, Seminole, 20 April 2006 *R. & R. Clark guilty**

How terible. So sorry.

From what I recall from yesterday's hearing, Judge Werner said that he was assigned the case because he was due up next on the homicide rotation. It appears he will continue to be the judge on the case.

That fits.
MOO she was allowed to appear in court in the lime green jump suit instead of the suicide smock.
When inmates wear anti suicide smocks they are naked underneath because underwear is easily used for self harm.
MOO appearing in court naked except for basically two thick mats sewn into a pocket with holes for head and arms would be avoided where possible.
It makes sense to me that the custody officers and jail psychologist allow the accused to appear in court in a regular transition jumpsuit whenever possible.

MOO the lime green transition suit also explains procedurally why her custody sheriff had 100% eyes on her.
MOO he was on max suicide watch while she was out of the suicide smock.
All to say, MOO she is actively suicidal at this point.

Quoting myself:
Being suicidal would be the appropriate response if she reflected on her actions if they are what the charges say they are.
Either from actual remorse or from realizing complete failure to get away with what ever she did.

I'm pretty sure police can question a minor (as a witness) without parental consent. The way it works where I live is that they can question the child, but if a parent is present they can stop the questioning and tell police they don't want their child questioned. I think it works that way in most states.

So without a parent present LE can question a minor about a crime without consent.

However, if it is the minor who is suspected of committing a crime they can't question them without parental consent.

I'm not sure if TS's daughter has turned 18 yet, but I see no reason why she wouldn't be allowed to testify.
Children have testified against their parents in court before.

There was a case in which a child drowned and the mother was accused of drowning her. Her five or six year old brother testified against his own mother, telling the court that she held his sister under the water. I can't remember the exact case but I saw the little boy testify in court. It was heart breaking. He cried when he saw his mother again sitting in the courtroom.

Imo
I remember this one too - so sad!

I’m so sorry for your loss.

I knew of a person who met a similar fate, although through accident rather than murder, but in this case I do not believe there are any pig farms along the route LS is supposed to have taken. Disposing of a body in someone else’s pig farm seems a bit risky to me, anyway. We don’t know that LS went anywhere else or moved the body for sure, so I suppose it’s a possibility.

I'm glad you brought up that case. I mentioned it in an earlier thread when we were discussing teacher background checks because Jay Smith was a high school principal! Some of the teachers called him the "vampire" because he was weird and he wore some kind of black cape.

I couldn't remember his name.
I think he was even suspected to have killed his own daughter or something.

Many of his victims were believed to have been dissolved in acid.

Imo
@MsBetsy , Yes (I remember), he was suspected of disappearing his daughter as well. My relative was involved in that case and it consumed him, as child murder cases do. Jay Smith taunted LE and while incarcerated, he even bragged about killing the children. Horrible, vicious human, and yes he was a school principle.

Again, NOT ALL, but they just seemed to dress dowdy and bumble around and act like they had just started practicing law. And the incessant talking to Tee was disrespectful and rude and distracting.

I thought so, too, and their behavior lacked professionalism in other ways, but I put it down to the two of them being appointed to defend the arguably most notorious alleged murderer in the Springs in recent history. I doubt either of them wanted to defend her but they have to. They may be worried that some people will be angry they're defending her, which might have made them more nervous. I kind of think they'll be better in future appearances. At least, I hope.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if she tried to jump out of the moving vehicle or otherwise tried to kill/hurt herself during her extradition and injured a deputy in the process. That could explain the whole KS incident and why T herself would also have been taken to a hospital, for a medical/psych eval.

I know of a few incidents in which a person being transported by ambulance or police attempted or committed suicide by jumping out, and in one of them the person hurt the EMT who tried to stop them.

I'm sorry, but this just seems ridiculous to me. They're her legal counsel. They have to talk to her, especially if she needs clarification on what's going on.

Additionally, speaking on how they're dressed and how they "bumble around" is pretty disrespectful itself.

I wonder if LS thought for a time that she'd convinced LE that she didn't do it. I'm sure they did several interviews with her, but as they were gathering evidence and the case against her got stronger, they stopped talking to her. Do you think she saw this as a sign that she'd gotten away with it? She was obviously still trying to convince the public with her wacky phone calls & interviews, but did her cockiness come from thinking she'd outsmarted LE?

If she did, obviously that was blown out of the water when she was arrested & charged. I didn't see remorse yesterday, but how could she sit there & hear that they've executed 107+ warrants and have over 1,000 pages of discovery and not realize that she didn't outsmart anyone? I can't help but feel sick & angry looking at her and she's sitting there knowing she's the only one that knows exactly where Gannon is, I'm sure she gets sick pleasure out of that :(

I find critiquing attorneys attire completely inappropriate, insulting and sexist. They are not there to put on a fashion show and be pleasing to the eye. They were dressed professionally and they are there to do their jobs. Also, to attack their level of professionalism is gross too. None of us know these attorneys backgrounds but I’m sure they have worked hard to get to the positions they are in, and these judgements are sad to see here. Stereotypical, sexist, judgements that make me realize how much work we still have to do as a society.

I don't find anything stereotypical nor sexist about critiquing the attorneys' behavior and choice of wardrobe. Different arenas require different dress codes and levels of behavior. Is that an antiquated concept? Perhaps, but it's very much part of our society today. People are typically judged by their actions, so it's fair game to call out the attorney who was constantly whispering and blocking view of her client, just as it is to call out the attorney who should know that the CDC has instructed all of us to cough into our elbows rather than our hands at this particular time. If the Prosecuting Attorney had been wearing anything other than a traditional suit and tie, he likely would have been called out as well.

But, that's just me.

I agree with this. HH is a 17yo girl who is likely devastated by what’s happening with her mother. We have seen so many cases where murderers families will support their loved one till the very end. They don’t want to believe they would be capable of doing the worst. It’s human nature. And many of us might be the same way if someone close to us were accused of a crime. No one can say exactly how they would be until they have been through it themselves.

I think speculation on HH and TS’s family is moot. It’s pointless and I don’t understand speculating about it at all, other than to be gossipy which is not what WS is about. They are all innocent parties who are most likely suffering a great deal of pain at this moment.
Agree with all you said. None of us know what type of relationship TS had with her daughter. This nightmare will affect her the rest of her life. Maybe she believes her mom is responsible and loves her anyway. That is not for any of us to judge. JMO.

The ban on the DP in CO doesn't go into place UNTIL 7/01. If charges are filed before then, they can still ask for the DP.

It's not a reinstatement that's happening - it's a complete ban on the DP from July onward. In Colorado.

Really? I figured if it goes into effect, it will be ex post facto.

That's a good point. She may have been a good mother to HH. When BTK was caught, his wife and kids were devastated. The wife got a quick divorce, they all moved away, and (I'm told) none of them have ever visited him in prison.

Public Defender=Government Salary. These are working women, let’s not go down the road of shaming women and their dress. This is not a red carpet moment.

Oh I don’t see it happening here. At all. Sadistic perp had his own farm in the case I mentioned. Who knows what LS did. I tend to think he is somewhere close to a creek. Possibly in a drainage ditch or bridge area. Some place construction is going on. Example:

I would hope not. How could you even want to be in the same room with a relative who had done that?
