I would think so. I was actually running local roads through my mind trying to think of likely spots. Most of that area is what is described locally as the Black Forest: unincorporated El Paso County. And although it is mainly ponderosa pine forest, there are a lot of five / ten / twenty / forty-acre properties back there with residences and mini-ranches. The main paved roads are frequently traveled, and the dirt roads are usually private roads with driveways up to the residences. It's the sort of area that looks a lot less populated than it actually is: hence the devastation of the Black Forest Fire of 2013 when some 400 residences were lost. I would hate to try to find a private spot in a hurry unless I had scouted in advance.

South Douglas Country has some forested areas but most of it is open prairie land with spectacular views of the Front Range. Some of it is trails and open space, but that area is not well served by roads. Again, I would hate to have to find a private spot there in a hurry.
So I asked my 13 year old and my 15 year old what they would type into their phone if they wanted to make sure their phones would not want to be found. Both said what ??? I don’t even know what you are talking about mom. Which made me think yeah that’s not a normal thing to type in your phone ever. Just saying. Kids don’t type that in their phones especially 11 year old kids. No kid is worried about phone tracking. If anything they want someone to want them and track them.
Excellent.

I totally agree with your kids.

It's not unbelievable to me that he would type that and it's unbelievable he would leave without his phone, mainly because I'm assuming that is how he keeps in touch with his mom and & dad, among all the other desirable uses for his phone.

He might have wanted to get away from his stepmom sometimes, but I don't think he wanted to completely leave little sis, dad, and mom.

He's not a runaway. imo.

IMO an 11 year old would never search that. WTH? She typed it and thought she could fool people which is another example of her thinking she is smarter than everyone. And that action alone shows this was premeditated.
Would like to know the exact time that was typed, cuz that'd be a measure of how far back premeditation went.

I s'pose we could pull out a few maps and have a look? I had a beautiful google earth link and i cannot find it now.
No harm throwing fresh eyes on things.. won't do anything but it's no harm?
Yes, that is something we could still do, especially since we have such great locals on this thread.

I'm thinking some "non-natural" places like culverts, etc. Perhaps we can find some places like that within the driving range we've been considering.

Other than that, I feel like we're at a standstill. :(

I like that thought. Culverts.

LE spent a lot of time and resources searching last week. But I got the impression they were looking for items more than anything. It's possible there are two different places that were visited. One for stuff and the other for.....

I know it's a busy place but it is a place LS is familiar with. I found that you can drive thru it and there's various turnouts and such. And, it is not that far from the house. Garden of the Gods is on my mind. Just grasping at straws.

I wish we could introduce TS to PF. She could do the talking, he could do the writing.

Then again, she's doing a bang up job all by herself.

And actually, TS, if you happen to be reading along here, please call the tip line. Tell them what you know.

Please.

I have a place in mind that has been bothering me. No basis behind it just nags at me because it’s in a direct line from home.

Has Landen’s full interview been found anywhere yet? The newest one.

For locals or anyone who has been to GotGs, are there dumpsters near any of the parking lots? If Gannon was concealed in a bag, for example, the bag might be put in a dumpster without attracting attention.

Forgive the blunt talk - I know it's hard to discuss this.

I believe RD is just a neighbor who was minding his own business, couldn’t sleep because a night or kid he liked was missing, so he decided to check out his security footage to see if there were any answers as to what could have happened to the neighbor kid.

He found something and alerted LE. He also showed it to the boy’s dad who definitely has a vested interest in all of this.

I don’t think RD did any of this for nefarious reasons, other than to be helpful and help get answers about what happened to Gannon.

How was he to know Stepmom was going to lie? How did he know surveillance would prove her wrong?

Him having video of what went down that day wasn’t because he had it in for stepmom or anyone else.

I don’t see him as an attention seeker, either. What were the odds all the planets aligned for this guy just so he could get attention? IMO
Exactly like many of us! We can't sleep so we get up and drive down Google roads, or actual roads for us local folks, look at maps, buy items of support, etcetera.

RD felt in his gut something just wasn't right. He has kids that play with Gannon and his sister (if I remember correctly). He lives right there on that street, in that neighborhood. He honestly has more of a vested interest than any of us and he wanted to be of service with the technology he had available to try and help. Who of us wouldn't do the same thing?

It seems in all situations we have to have a reasonable expectation of what is possible. Because LE has not inserted itself into the life of RD through warrents to search his house/vehicles, it seems highly unlikely that they consider him anything other than a neighbor with a big heart who just wanted to help a father find his son.

Edited by me: no, I don't have a link. I could just be remembering wrong.

I clearly don’t understand the rules. Back to lurking.
No, dont lurk. It is confusing at times. Especially in this case where we can have limited discussion regarding T.

If this was, in fact, premeditated, the south Douglas County area might have been searched if phone records showed a PoI had scouted there on a prior date. The PoI might have left the phone home on the Monday Gannon went missing, but had it along while scouting.

I think I may recognize where the Channel 7 photo was taken that I was posted on Friday, though if I am correct it is actually about a half-mile south of Douglas County. Cell phone coverage is notoriously spotty in that area: at least with my cell phone provider. I can't get Google Maps very well in that area.

Yep I don’t mind it was just an early inclination. Just a gut feeling. Means absolutely nothing I was thinking she went north to James Bible park because it was a straight north shot. When I found out they went north to 105 it was about 1/2 way. I really know nothing. So please take this with a very big huge grain of salt.
