That what I think may have happened, but instead hitch hike to where Dad was. I am still wondering if there is any verified info whether (or not) the boy and his father were in phone contact Sunday or Monday.
Where did the story come from that he said he was going to visit a friend, if sm didn't see him just before he left. What has she said she was doing during that time period when he left? Anything reported on MSM?
Do you think a child of that age knows what hitchhiking is? It’s so uncommon these days I find..my 8 year old would have no clue what it was but that doesn’t mean an 11 year old wouldn’t also. Curious. I need to interview some 11 year olds.

SBM
Someone who LE is eyeing as an as of yet unnamed POI. Someplace who’s been placed at a location odd for them during the time Gannon went missing (or shortly thereafter).
I hadn't thought of that. There are so many aspects of this case that are hidden from us. As they should be, but it sure does feed speculations.

I’m at the “new command post” according to @EPCSheriff
Looks like everyone is inside this building.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s office changes the location of the mobile command post relocating to the Incident Command to the Sheriff’s Office Training Facility across from the jail on Sunday.

They said the move was because their investigation led them to the area.

Very interesting. I’m trying to think what all is in that area. Train tracks. A creek. The trail next to the creek that, I’ve heard, pretty much goes from the north end of town to Fountain down south. A Pull and Pay lot full of old cars. Water treatment plant. Landscaping supply place. The jail, of course. Man there’s all sorts of stuff down Las Vegas Avenue, mostly industrial type. No houses until you get to the north end closer to downtown. There is a neighborhood near the south end of the road. I used to live there.

I don't have a good feeling today or the tip. I can't stop thinking about his sweet innocent voice on the youtube video. I usually stay hopeful, especially when the parents/caretakers don't appear to be deep in addiction. I hope I am wrong, but get a horrible feeling every time I come to thread or google like I am going to see an awful headline.

Would also love to know the date stamp of the hiking picture. Even if it was posted to social media on Sunday, it could have been taken earlier. I wouldn't put it past SM to come up with the hike story because she knew there was a picture of Gannon looking happy with her on an earlier hike. Has the hike been verified by anyone besides her daughters?

I think the main thing that arises my suspicion is the runaway story SM has given in that he planned it...with no history of running, took no clothes or phone and told no friends. Dishonesty with a missing child never has a happy ending.

Does anyone know if his school does " call home" if a child doesn't show up at school? Many schools call the home to see if the child is in fact home sick or otherwise. If a child is sent to school and doesn't show up then searching starts a lot earlier.
Although in this case, if the school did have this sort of robo-call policy in place the call would have went directly to step-mom, if "home" is number on file for them to call.

All of those places sound like possible dump sites to me,I think I have been on WS too long:(

Are the train tracks still in use? If so, where does the train go/stop?

Well I would like to know if something happened that may have caused phone contact between the boy and his father, ie a need for sympathy or that the boy was feeling picked on imagined or not.
It's outstanding to me that "we" don't know who the boy told that he was going to visit a friend, and therefore who didn't ask "what friend".

For days I assumed it was SM but if she was in the basement, where did that story come from?

I think media savvy 11 year olds could easily think they could hitch hike to go to a loved one especially if they feel they can't stay at home for one more minute, and maybe they feel even physically closer if they had been in recent phone contact.

if I could learn a few of those things then my mind wouldn't keep circling that option, that he was temporarily miserable and wanted to be with the Dad who was physically his closest bio parent.

when did the dad leave, and was it unusual that sm cared for all 3 without him being around?

I feel a personal and deep empathy for people who can't communicate fluently in the principal language of the country they are in, whether or not they are natural born citizens. So I am not ready to diagram the sentences of this woman. Maybe if she had faced the camera the body language would have been more clear.

Yes. All cargo trains. I know coal trains stop at the power plant down south.

***I'm going to repost these quotes every day until GS is found:

VIDEO: Stepmom of missing Colorado boy speaks out

"Secondly, I'm going to be so ecstatic when I am able to say to people that I hope they have a really sincere apology for all of these theories that have came <sic> out online, for ALL of the things that they say that I have done, or people have done, and I just want everyone to know that we are going to find Gannon, and I love him so much, and I have been taking care of him for so long."

Reporter: Any message for Gannon?

Her: "The message for Gannon is, Gannon, when you get here, you'll be able to truly tell what happened, and then, I REALLLY hope I get a sincere apology from EVERYone who has made <sic> ALLLL those things...."
______________

We can only hope she's owed a sincere apology when all of this over.

We can only hope.

JMO.
After deep thought, I believe her. I believe Gannon is alive. I believe Gannon will come home. I believe we are not thinking outside the box. I believe she will receive the apologies she hopes for. I believe. imo

I too thought FOR ONE MOMENT after seeing her interview that this was all a ruse of some sort....she seeks attention and obviously needs some sort of affirmation from her husband. Could she be doing it all for those nefarious reasons?

I don't believe so now. I've studied that interview over and over and over. I'd never even CONSIDER past tense if I thought I'd find my child.

Yeah, or "can people track me with my cell phone/by cell phone", though I grant it's been a while since I was an 11-year-old, and no smartphones existed then. How omnipotent do 11-year-olds think their parents are, as a general rule? Unless they think their parents have some special parental properties that amplify cell phone tracking.
Do we know what kind of phone he had? Was it an iphone?
I have 11 year old twins, and they think that they are pretty savy on their phones. I know where they are at all times, no need to track them on their phones, but on iphones that is pretty easy. I have huge doubts that he would have phrased the sentence on google search the way it was prased. It sounds very staged to me. My kids would definitely not say it this way. More like: how can iphone track where I am.....

They may have confiscated both, but it sounds like from SM that there was an avetsio to turning over the keys to the Jetta.

Yes! Could vs can. Good thought!
ja, 11 year olds don't talk like this! This is adult language!

Any possibility the she is covering up for her daughter

I think he did leave in the afternoon, feeling unwanted or wanting his dad or mom. I think he said he was going to a friends to play, the friend was not home and he wandered for a bit and found it becoming darker and colder. I think he didn't want to go back home because he knew his dad was not there and he didn't want to face his SM.
I think he looked for somewhere to spend the night and to be warm and has met a serious problem. I think he is nearby and just not discovered yet.

Not all bad parents are child murderers, there’s no doubt about that.

And God knows we’ve seen cases where innocent people come off poorly, and draw suspicion upon themselves.

Even if I ignore that interview though, the whole scenario is problematic.

If runaway doesn’t make sense, then some sort of abduction makes even less sense. All the weirdness here would have to mean nothing, and some predator would have had to get incredibly lucky.

Law enforcement has never behaved as if they thought this was a runaway child, although they did publicly state that for a time.

Some problems I have:

The time gap between he was last seen.

The fact that he didn’t go to school, but then allegedly went to an unnamed friend’s house.

The lack of any witness sightings, or surveillance footage.

That uncorroborated Google search, which I tend to believe is true. It is the only explanation I can come up with for a quick determination by law enforcement, that Gannon ran away.

I firmly believe that not only did that search happen, but it was an effort to mislead.

It wasn’t Gannon who did that.

I have the same problems as you, the main one being the initial classification of runaway vs missing. It sounds like in the initial report SM basically says “My son said he was going to a friend’s house, but I think he ran away”.
Why???
Was there some sort of argument or disagreement?
Was he upset when he left?
Has he been unhappy?
How is your relationship with him?
SM - “Oh, by the way, I found this search on his phone.”

99% of the time when you have a runaway, you know why they ran away even if you’re not telling.
If you had any inkling your child was going to run, would you just say “Sure” when the child asked if they could go to a friend’s house?
If everything was hunky dory at home, why wouldn’t your first reaction be that someone has taken your child when they didn’t come home when they were supposed to as opposed to I think he ran away?
MOO
