If she is from the Carolinas it could be native american accent?
I believe a SC (or NC?) native earlier in the thread suggested Lumbee? That made sense to me, as there was another case not too long ago where there were Lumbee family members and the dialect is very familiar.

I know it's been stated in MSM that BM, BD, and SM are all originally from SC.

Edit: BTW it took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out that BM/BD meant BIO mom/dad and not BABY momma/daddy :D

Do you think a child of that age knows what hitchhiking is? It’s so uncommon these days I find..my 8 year old would have no clue what it was but that doesn’t mean an 11 year old wouldn’t also. Curious. I need to interview some 11 year olds.

I have an 11, 9 and 6 year old..all boys and just a few weeks ago a guy had his thumb out on the side of the road. My oldest said, "what's that guy doing?". Like in a that's so weird tone of voice. I said, "hitchhiking" and he asked me what that meant. We travel/drive a lot too and it's the first time they've seen it. His response was, "well, that's dumb". He meant it as in why would you get in a stranger's car. Obviously , we talk a lot about stranger danger, knowing where they're at, etc....I know that doesn't happen in every household though.

I wish I could tag this poster cause I think they’re on point. This is why I call her a southern red rebel. imo

Oh wow. Thanks for heads up. :D

My 11-year olds certainly would not just run off. They would first pack a backpack and the first thing that would go in there would be their phone! But, they would not go very far either, maybe in the basement or the garage. Sit in the car in the garage for awhile.... and call me to tell me that they are mad. At 11 they have a pretty good understanding that running away is dangerous.

From the SM interview what appears to be a bandage on her left palm. You can see the corner of the bandage (at the edge of her sweatshirt) is peeled back a little.

JMO

This was probably already answered.

That's a hole in the cuff of the sweatshirt to put your thumb through. It creates a fingerless glove effect. It was popular in the 80's and has seen a sudden resurgence.

I'm trusting our LE on this. There are rumors flying all over the place out here. But I am thinking the move of the IC could be really telling.

Unfortunately, we have a pretty rough storm coming in as I type. It will hit us later today and tomorrow will be rough as well. Temps will go below zero here in the Springs. Gannon, where are you??! :(

I did hear it was an iphone. I agree his language would have been more tech savvy. Will you ask your ids what they reckon they would do in a similar situation? What skills do 11 yr olds have? Do they have survival skills, for example? Would they be able to survive outside alone if they found a way to keep sheltered from the elements?

I have 3 boys, 11, 9, 6. Two in Cub Scouts. We go hiking at least once a week, fish, go camping, etc. The older two own their own Multi Tool Pocket knives and know how to use them. The older two know how to start a fire. So does the younger one but only with a magnifying glass, lol..thank goodness. Do I think they could survive a few days, maybe, a week? No, Especially in a colder climate without the right gear.

Even if they have the skills, most kids that age wouldn't try it IMO. Kids that age biggest fears are being outside alone in the dark or being somewhere with animals/bugs that could get them. That's from my experience anyway.

A lot of motorcycle gear is made like that so your sleeves don’t fly up. I have several branded long sleeves like that. Very comfortable and keeps your sleeve down under a jacket.

Thank you, friends.

@kittythehare , good to see you, too.

SM is a hot mess.

Where is Gannon? ( THE only reason for interviews , dearest SMer)

(Edit: I responded with quotes to thank Katy & Kitty for responding to my query. The quotes are MIA)

Is there a post that explains what the heck stepmom was talking about regarding police/guns drawn/buying underwear in a store/handcuffs 17 year old? And how is that related to Gannon missing? I’m confused.

JMO - Stepmom has Southern accent.
Eastern NC (Lumbee)

I think the suggestion is that near the thumb hole, a curled bandage may be visible.

Nor is starting a war with law enforcement. She went after them too. Hard.

If the goal of that interview was to state her grievances, she succeeded. We know who she has a beef with, and why.

If the goal of the interview was to improve her public image, she failed.

Miserably.
So true. Double dog dare them, and they'll up the ante to a triple dog dare. I think LEO is playing this very smart, and strategically. I was thinking about somethings they said in the presser, about keeping the focus on Gannon, and how they are checking out persons of interest. Following up on leads.. So going for the weakest link. Like with Kelsey Berreth case. PING.

Searchers look again for missing 11-year-old Colorado boy

SABBM:
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Authorities searched again Sunday for an 11-year-old Colorado boy who has now been missing for a week.
Members of the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children were among over 50 people who searched for Gannon Stauch in his Colorado Springs neighborhood on Sunday, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said. In the afternoon, the search’s command post was moved to near the county jail because of unspecified information gathered during its investigation, the sheriff’s office said.

I think the command center was moved because LE has cleared the area of his home. Or received info that he isn't there.

MOO.

New to this story as of this morning. Very sad for him, regardless of what is going on or what happened. I have an 11-year-old and there's really no way around it, 11 is very young. I have read somewhere that he was searching for how to hide from parents if his phone is turned off, but I haven't actually seen the quotation anywhere. Can someone lead me to where that was reported?

I am very very very curious if the SM is involved. As in so many of these cases, Occam's Razor is typically the answer. Her being the last one to see him, well....

And not answering some very pointed questions directly.
