I respect the neighbor fellow for taking the time to look at the video and calling LE. But the blabbing to tv stations is puzzling. I'm thinking LE either asked to remain quiet or thought maybe a leak would be ok in this matter. The reporters should ask him if LE suggested he not talk. MOO

Was wondering about the timing of that. They moved the base on Sunday (Saturday? The days run together for me sometimes), but the neighbor said he showed the video to AS and LE first thing Monday. Their targeted search near Las Vegas was initiated prior to knowing about the video, so probably hinges on some other tip.

I read that the neighbor showed AS on Sunday morning.

She may or may not be a suspect. LE is not saying much at all about the investigation.

I wonder if she drove him to a friend or a acquaintance and left him with them for any number of reasons. I wonder if that is why she is so sure he is alive and will return.

I just had a thought. What if a person had nefarious intent and was unsure about how their own phone could be traced? What if words in a search were changed to make it look like a child made the search, all while learning how a phone can / cannot be pinged if it is on/off?

I'm a bit behind so this may have come up but I'm sure it was her who made the search,I am also sure that they can tell when a phone was switched off,so if she did this or if she just left it behind she has incriminated herself further in the premeditation stakes!.
Unfortunately that wont help them find Gannon,but it will hopefully help with justice when the time comes JMO

If you listen to the most recent Press Conference it almost sounded like LE found out about the video from the media. I had a WTF moment there and thought how did that happen?

A female reporter asks about the fact that LE asked them not to divulge info on the video and the woman (Detective?) holding the Presser says something like, "yes, when you made us aware of the video.....".

Did I hear that right?

That would mean that the neighbour showed the Dad, then the media and then the media went to LE with the Video.

Did anyone else hear that?

ETA: If that's the case then the leak of the video came from the neighbour to the media.

I still think there’s a big piece missing. Whether it’s a big piece of evidence or just suspicion, there is a lot we don’t have a clue about yet.

I think there are many pieces in this investigation. LE said the new evidence is just one out of many.

I didn't, but we don't really know how or when they became aware of the video.
They may have noticed it themselves in addition to the neighbor notifying them.

But from what I understand it was LE who gave the media the video and asked them not to show it.

It doesn't make much sense, though. Unless they shared the footage without realizing what was on it and then were alerted by the media. I'm not sure how they would have missed it.

"Investigators in El Paso County are asking neighbors of missing 11-year-old Gannon Stauch to check their security camera video for possible clues. The little boy’s stepmother reported that he was last seen between 3 and 4 p.m. Jan. 27. But in a news conference on Tuesday, investigators asked neighbors to also review security footage in the days leading up to that time.

“If you live in the neighborhood and have a video camera, please look back… to see if there’s any video from before Gannon went missing,” said El Paso County Sgt. Deborah Mynatt.
