Rarely are things black and white when it comes to the Websleuths rules.

One of our rules is we cannot accuse just anyone of a crime. Good rule. Another rule we do our best to follow is unless law enforcement says someone is a suspect or even a person of interest we cannot accuse anyone connected to a case of a crime.

Then we have our great big gray areas. Like Gannon's case.

It is rare these days for law enforcement to actually say someone is a suspect but we have to use our common sense.

Take the case of the missing children of Lori Vallow. Her behavior and the fact that people around her are dropping dead leaves us with the very logical conclusion that she has done something with her children and therefore we do allow our members to discuss this case with Lori and her husband Chad as possible perps involved in her missing children.

Mark Sievers was just convicted of 1st-degree murder in the death of his wife Dr. Teresa Sievers even though he was hundreds of miles away when she was murdered. Early on we allowed our members to discuss Mark Sievers as a suspect because of what our members discovered and it was only common sense that he was a suspect.

Then there is the case of Heidi Broussard. Her boyfriend was 100 percent innocent in her disappearance and her murder but many members decided to accuse him of being involved because he was awkward in front of the camera. I hope that those who felt it was OK to accuse a man when there was no evidence to suggest he had anything to do with the crime will re-think before they ever do something like that again. Remember, unless the Internet blows up, Heidi and Shane's children could (one day) read your words about their father.

I know this is weird, but it could be related to another criminal activity in the house? I dunno. My heart breaks thinking what this poor boy might have gone through.

Then marital discord over X, SM applies for flight attendant job, wants out of the marriage, wants to go back to Carolina, then opportunity, dad's out of town, SM does what?
What is her motivation for abruptly taking GS somewhere, returning without him? Why not the girl? He saw something he shouldn't have? She's secretly a criminal? It's a stretch imho to say she snapped because the kid got on her nerves (after all the time they've been a family under one roof?) and killed him? Two other kids lived there. That's a Drees built house, easy to hear everything going on everywhere, even in the basement.
Why would she sell him into sex trafficking, as has been suggested? In Colorado Springs? Have also heard the theory she was trying to hurt the mom and dad by taking him and hiding him, to make her feel powerful, to show them.
Where is Occam's Razor in all of this?

It sounds like dad, SM, and BM used to live at least relatively close to each other (2+yrs ago). Hence the shared custody.

Then dad and SM moved to colorado and they somehow decided where the kids would primarily live.

Yes, the only way that would have worked is if both girls were threatened to keep silent.

So the question is what went on in that house and does LE know now? My guess is yes and that’s why we have CSI onsite for days

She said she gave up her license in that state

Right, but the part that doesn't make sense is that you don't have to give up your license because you broke the contract and one doesn't normally lose their certification because of it.
In extreme cases the certification can be suspended for a few months, but your teaching license lasts indefinitely as long as you meet the requirements.

So she was not being entirely truthful but that seems to be the norm for her.

I also agree that there will be some drain testing and plumbing examination going on by the CSI, which could explain the time it will take in the house.

This case has really gotten to me. But I do think this case will have a conclusion unlike some others. LE seem to be doing a lot of work.

She did, and for the record that's not something a decent, protective parent would do if their minor child happened to be tangentially involved in a police investigation. A parent with this teenager's best interest in mind would do everything they could to minimize her involvement and media exposure unless it was absolutely critical to finding the missing child, not literally call her by name into a TV interview to try to establish her (TS's) own innocence. I think that girl has probably had a hard road and now it's not going to get any easier.

I was shocked too when she called her by name and asked her to be on camera. Who does that?!

I don't think there is going to be a simple explanation in this case.

Based on the evidence that we know so far, what do you think the simplest explanation could be?

SM surely did not seem in the least concerned in her interview about whatever investigators might find in her home. Wouldn’t she have been protesting wildly about being kicked out, knowing all this evidence could be found? Is she that confident that it was hidden?

She did complain about that, made out as if she's being picked on.

I hope that Gannons friends and classmates and his teacher have spoken up about any suspicions of abuse they may have had. Kids know and observe so much more than we give them credit for.

I think she would have had Gannon get in on the passenger side if this was the case. It seems like he would've been in clear view of the camera on the porch post.

I wonder if her cameras worked, she turned them off, she erased the footage, or she refused to show the footagd to LE?

Would a renter use the cameras and security system? Would it be under the owner's name or account?
Why do so many people in that subdivision have Ring or similar?

Very tragic if it's come to this stage of the investigation.

Years ago a group of heinous in-laws killed and put Summer Inman into the septic tank.
LE said something at the time to the effect of --if they hadn't received a tip , they would've never checked it.

Good Lord. That's a long time.
