MOO, Witness Happ never hesitates, or says hmm between thoughts. Very polished in her delivery in a courtroom. I'm thinking, this is her field of knowledge and no one will doubt what she has to say.

The pillow bullets are being discussed now. A bullet can get marred by what it travels through. The first was cleaned up, and had not been further damaged by what it went through. The one that went through biological matter showed different bullet damage. This is a very technical testimony. Microscope comparisons being shown now.

People's Exhibit 680 You can see the mushroom effect as it expands like petals.

The next witness is Stephanie Happ, the senior firearms examiner with the Colorado Springs Metro Crime Lab.

Happ examined and tested three firearms taken from the Stauch home and compared them to the three recovered bullets, two from the pillow and one from Gannon’s head when his body was found in a suitcase in Florida.

Lice? Prevalent in jails, for sure.
If she did wash her hair, she might have had to use soap if she didn't have shampoo. That would have dried out her scalp and made it itch.

This trial is so unnecessary. Have to admit I'm underwhelmed today and a bit bored, and I've only watched a few hours. Hats off to the jury that has to listen to all of this all day. WHEN both sides agree SHE KILLED HIM. This is all proving something that is not in dispute.

Happ said she was able to identify two of the bullets being fired from a Smith & Wesson pistol, which was one of the firearms she was asked to examine.

I know what you mean, but I'm liking it because it's definitely the smoothest running and most professional of any of these trials in the US I've seen. They're usually a shambles, but here the judge, lawyers, and most of the witnesses are fantastic.

Was LS' attorney suggesting HH had something to do with the killing since items with blood were in her room? I couldnt' figure that out.
Good question. Technically I suppose it’s within the scope of a defense in order to suggest reasonable doubt. But if they are trying to throw HH under the bus to accomplish doubt IMO it could backfire when it comes time for her to testify. MOO

DA Michael Allen: People’s exhibit 88 recovered by Crime Scene Det. Kelly Smith did you have a chance to look at that item?
Ms. Happ: I did. That bullet was also fired through the Smith and Wesson pistol (Peoples’ exhibit 484).
DA Michael Allen meaning that is in the box in front of you was fired and struck Gannon recovered in Gannon’s autopsy.
Ms. Happ: Yes

1681506578755.png Such a impressive firearm expert. Never says duh or umm between sentences.

Talking about the firing of the pistol. Ejects cartridge case to the right. Attorney asks Right-Handed? Objection. Judge allows. Witness says the pistol isn't necessarily right or left, and also the shooter being not determined right or left handed but which hand they're using.

It's technical, but I'm going to assume it was sane Letecia who shot the gun.

THANK YOU, I know very little about guns, but even eye know that eye dominance can be more of a factor than handedness.

I don't know what the direction of defense is here, she wasn't target shooting, she was shooting through a pillow at a victim. Murderers don't generally care which way the cartridge ejects, so long as it goes bang. And it's not like the gun was locked up, inaccessible to anyone but the person who bought the gun for their own handedness or eye dominance.

What is Cook doing? Cooking his own goose?

Does he have a point with his right-ejecting/left-ejecting nonsense?

OMG! the bullets in the pillow had bone and hair on them!

Can't wait for the DA to get up and ask this expert whether it's possible to shoot a helpless 9 year old from fairly close up with just any old gun, whether you were left handed or right handed or even half blind.

POSSIBLE BONE AND POSSIBLE HAIR ON THE TWO PILLOW BULLETS.

Did Ms Happ actually just sigh at his question just now? :D

A firearms expert from the Colorado Springs Metro Crime Lab just testified that the bullet recovered in Gannon's body was shot by a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun. A Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun was recovered at the Stauch's home by law enforcement.

I'm sorry to be picky, but it's important. Gannon was 11.

Exactly!
SHE has admitted to killing him. Does it matter right or left ejecting?!

She absolutely did. She has been such a good and patient teacher for the jury, and you could just hear her patience being lost in a moment.
