Where was the killer arrested? Was he still in the theater?

Aurora police officer Jason Oviatt arrested Holmes a few minutes later, after finding him outside, standing with his hands on top of his car. Oviatt said Holmes was "completely compliant" when told to surrender. Oviatt, though, said that when he first spotted Holmes, he thought he was a fellow officer because he was dressed in full body armor and wore a gas mask and helmet.

I think he was standing next to his car when he was arrested.

APD Sergeant Michael Hawkins said as he tried to help the man with shrapnel in his face, "Another police officer said 'I've got him.' and I realized it was an officer from Broomfield." That was when Hawkins became aware other police departments had responded to the shooting.

APD Sergeant Michael Hawkins ultimately went to Gateway High School: "I assisted in just kind of maintaining order with the people who had been at the theater that night."

APD Sergeant Michael Hawkins said he got on one of the buses that arrived at Gateway H.S., where he had contact with an African American man in his late 60s who didn't have a shirt on." The man said he had to use it as a bandage. That man was Mike White, Sr. He had used the shirt to bandage his son, Michael White.

do you know when you arrived at theater that someone had been apprehended? didn't know at that time

did you observe or see fatalities on flat part of theater other than veronica? on exterior wall or east wall, yes

bought tickets early and left.......went back later.....went to arcade....went back to theater......went to restroom.....before movie....

third or fourth row back........veronica was wearing gold sandals w/little chains....

while waiting for movie were talking with each other.....

this rocket thing shot from right side to left side, thought was a prank, popping sounds, ashley jumped on top of veronica and fell to floor

hailey was still sitting, then we both went to floor, jamison touched his head and blood was trickling down his head, movie still playing, people screaming, yelling for people to get down

kept poking head out to see what was going on, where bullets were coming from,

asked hailey for phone to call 911, called, took hand away for a moment, when put hand back on veronica she wasn't breathing anymore, when operator answered i told her shooting at movie 16 and had injured child and i told her ashley her mom was on top of her and i couldn't give her cpr

i yelled at jamison and turned back to veronica and screamed we had to get out and move ashley and he said he couldn't move her....

i don't remember ever trying to talk to ashley......lights came on.....police came in with gas masks.....everything seemed so slow.....yelling we had a child, a man, officer came up and moved us, i stepped over a body and multiple pools of blood

to exit and sitting on curb, jamison was still in theater, manager came and sat with us

officer made us sit behind van, a road construction person, a woman carried me across to my dad who i had called when i got out of theater.......took hailey to her mom, went to family at hospital to hear about jamison who was shot in head, ashley there but didn't see her, she was paralyzed from waist down (defense objects) overruled, had a miscarriage (sustained, too late!)
