Hoping Aurora police have upgraded their recording equipment since 2012. Tough to understand anything from audio. #theatershooting

Fishing line being talked about. JH is telling of location and number of bottles of napalm

If he is the one with the deeper/slower voice....he might be very proud of his efforts re trap....

Something else I just thought of...since we are all listening to this but not understanding a word...LOL!

Will the Jury know that JH would have accepted a guilty plea if the DP was taken off the table, and given life?

There is one more observation I have. The Judge really has a handle on his court room and the law which allows things to run smoothly. I also noticed ALL the lawyers and those we can see dress professionally. It appears they all wear a suit coat/jacket of some kind dor the most part...and on my screen it seems a lot of them like to wear olive green daily. It is dull but it does not distract anyone from the importance of this trial.

and they address the Judge and Court with respect

hmm..... my guess is no...they aren't allowed to know stuff like that. Slightly O/T... all the planning involved would make him look like any other shooter, except the suicide plans. Maybe he wanted to be known for his planning? Maybe he wanted to be around for the "wow....this guy thought of everything" What makes him different from the Columbine/Newtown shooters? Honestly....

The meticulous planning of all of this...it is one of the most intrinsically complicated crimes I have personally ever heard of!!! I am sure there are others, but this is really mind boggling!!!!

I am not convinced, but it seems many here are, that he had some sort of mental illness.

But he is clearly not out of his mind...and based on all that I have seen/heard thus far...knows that this was absolutely wrong!

Well he did dye his hair a bright color--he wanted full credit for this--

He had timed his computer to blare music, hoping to draw someone inside his home, thereby detonating the explosives. #theatershooting

I'm not convinced.. I'm just not sure yet.

Yup!! He did it before this night...was seen around town by many, even pulled over by a police officer. He probably was speeding in a speed trap area for that reason alone!

I just don't see how someone could be considered so mentally incapacitated that they didn't know what they were doing, or that the mental illness was responsible for this (an alternate personality or whatever)...and have pulled all of this off!!!

It's not like when he was pulled over, he told the cop he was Steve Johnson, not John Holmes!! Nor did he apply to the gun ranges as someone else.

Pretrial hearing: A 2nd triggering device was set up near a trash bin outside his apt he placed the device in a garbage bag #theatershooting

This guy was smart enough to do some serious chemical experiments and study to use everything he was found with glycerin and napalm. Makes me think he was using the anarchist menu, all kinds of booby traps intended to maim or kill in his apartment and trash can to use as a diversion.

IMO - he's crazy like a fox. Waiting for him to start petting and talking to his pet dog. He had to be thinking about this for a very long while. No way did he not know what he was doing.

Did he have any grudges with neighbors?
