He said he did all this to his apartment so that all First Responders would be busy there, and not be able to respond to the theater!

He was, IMO, just PURE EVIL!! I typed crazy...but then that would play into his hand, right?

The meticulous planning of all of this...it is one of the most intrinsically complicated crimes I have personally ever heard of!!! I am sure there are others, but this is really mind boggling!!!!

I am not convinced, but it seems many here are, that he had some sort of mental illness.

But he is clearly not out of his mind...and based on all that I have seen/heard thus far...knows that this was absolutely wrong!

Mental illness via Borderline/Narcissim/Sociopath is a far cry from Legally Insane. When this first happened I saw him on tv looking like he was having halucinations....maybe he was....but I hope that they can show he was NOT legally insane at the time. When have they ever captured one of these guys alive? Almost never..... ugh

This guy was smart enough to do some serious chemical experiments and study to use everything he was found with glycerin and napalm. Makes me think he was using the anarchist menu, all kinds of booby traps intended to maim or kill in his apartment and trash can to use as a diversion.

IMO - he's crazy like a fox. Waiting for him to start petting and talking to his pet dog. He had to be thinking about this for a very long while. No way did he not know what he was doing.

I agree that he did know what he was doing the whole time. Even tho this tape is hard to understand, listen how he is explaining with great detail how the apt. was rigged!
He does have a mental illness. But the legal reason, 'not guilty by reason of insanity' does NOT apply here, IMO.
I am remembering the American sniper trial, that was also an insanity defense- the killer was additionally hospitalized, I believe 4 times before the killing. They had more evidence there than JH does!
