The DA read those exhibit numbers out like he was reading Bingo balls!

Well there is the reason the defence want her off the jury!

It is in the defense's best interest to whittle down the jury as much as they can.

  • #583
WOW! OK...I am now going with y'all's theory that they want her off the jury! Wonder why they even let her past voir dire!!
She did not recognize the name of the witness. She only sees him once a year at a large Christmas party. He is a friend of a friend of a relative

Something that just hit me as far as the previous witness - Kelly Bowen - and what I thought that Mrs. Teesch-Maguire had questioned her in more detail.

She actually REMEMBERED how he used the guns - the order. She actually saw him use each one. Something we haven't really heard from other witnesses.

I am now thinking that was a very important detail that she needed to get on the record!

I think earlier juror questions have now been answered with this witness. The jurors probably finally figured it out, but yet, this one tied all the previous testimonies up on that. Strategic I guess by the prosecutor to hav her come so far into the trial victims than laying that out in the beginning ?

:seeya: sillybilly. :tyou: for :vacuum: on the thread so quietly. sorry for my crumbs you had to clean up

I think corundogs was referring to this information about the juror....

Seat 21: Juror 557 – Hispanic woman in 30s or 40s
This juror has a bipolar son, and she said simply having a mental illness such as that would never be an excuse to commit a crime. In particular, the woman said she felt there is a big difference between struggling in certain situations and being insane.

What I wonder is why he purchased ticket for #8, but executed in #9. We have heard of soooooo many folks doing last minute purchases of tickets, which leads me to think that when he purchased the tickets, that the second showing theater wasn't online yet? Would LOVE to hear if that is correct. :moo:

Maybe the DA thinks the defense plans to use the motorcycle class as a way to prove JH was acting unusually (like taking motorcycle classes when he doesn't own a motorcycle) & the DA wanted to bring him in to prove there was a valid reason for the class (although they haven't seemed to make that point clearly because they didn't uncover any explanation as to why he took the class)? Idk just throwing out an idea. That witness stumped me!

I thought the visit to #8 was a week or two before the actual shooting. Wasn't the ticket found in the garbage outside his apartment? I assumed he did a dry run to have a look around the theatre. Of course that doesn't make sense as he knew his way around #9. Just ignore me!

Thanks Maisiebelle...yes, that is what I was referring to. I was questioning why the fact that she knew the witness as a family friend would exclude her. Until reading that information that ATL found.

I wonder if they even had the option to choose which theater if they were playing at the same time? I think I remember one of the Red Robin employees saying a few of them got tickets for Theater 8 but switched w/ some people so they could all sit together. (Or I could have completely imagined that!)

From what I recall #9 was sold out and JH just decided to buy from #8 and go into #9 like he wanted.

Yes you are correct! I found this....

Though a detective testified Monday that Holmes bought his ticket to the new Batman movie online on July 8, Aurora Det. Craig Appel, the lead detective on the case, said Tuesday Holmes bought the ticket the night of July 7. For whatever reason, Appel said, Holmes’ ticket printout errantly showed the purchase date as July 8.

That’s not all that was inconsistent with the ticket and Holmes’ actions. Holmes’ ticket, Appel said, was actually purchased for theater 8. Holmes instead went into theater 9 next door, where the movie started about five minutes later that night. All of those killed and 55 of the 58 people wounded by gunfire on July 20 were in theater 9.

I didn't know he had purchased his ticket that far in advance though!

Defense objects when Brauchler asks Jensen how many kids typically attend movies. Bench conference

Is that where he is going right now...Is that is correct? #9 opened after #8 was full? He wanted #8 or #9 due to the isolated exits. The 1-7 and the 10-16 exits weren't as isolated as 8/9.

It does sound like they didn't open up all the tickets to theaters at once? That they added when demand was filling one theater, and then went to the next one and they could have done all their screens with that one movie.

8 12:01
9 12:05 400 seats
1 12:10
16 12:15
10 12:20

:waiting: to see if he goes into further

Jensen is asked whether there was an "emergency exit." No, it's a courtesy exit. No alarm goes off. No handle on exterior

OK...can someone help me out here? I have spent the past 5+ minutes looking for this photo...because this is what I remember seeing. Is this someone OTHER than JH's ticket??

Because this ticket clearly says House 9. But since Mr. Bauchler is going on about this 8 vs 9 thing, he must have it right!

I don't know how to post a photo - I have tried the "insert image" but it never works.

Jensen was in manager's office when #theatershooting began. He left office after fellow manager told him. He saw some employees in hallway.

People started coming out of Theater 15. Those people were heading toward the lobby. I stopped those people.

They would have walked past Theater 9. He sent them to the parking lot instead. He ran over toward Theater 9, but ...People started pouring out of Theater 10. He again stopped them and turned them around, away from Theater 9...

Smoke and people started pouring out of Theater 9, "quickly," Jensen said.

Daniel saw smoke and people pouring out of the theater doors.
