I wonder if he was hinting at his shooting and basically telling her that nobody will ever know where he was planning his attack or on whom.

I think it was smart of the school to deactivate his college ID. He may have been targeting the school and maybe after he realized he could not access certain places maybe he decided on the public theatre.

So she warned the campus police that he was dangerous but not local LE? That makes me so angry! Don't let him on campus but leave him to do whatever he wants to the city instead?!

But what about those magazines loaded with 13 bullets each ..What would happen to them if fire engulfed the apartment? I'm not a gun enthusiast so just don't know what would happen to them??? Maybe a stupid question..:thinking:

No questions are stupid in this trial because what he did was so bizarre a lot of it is very confusing so ask away.

I am a shooting sports person and so I have multiple handguns, rifles, and even a shotgun and so I can help answer most gun related questions.

If fire engulfed his apartment, the bullets would explode at roughly 400 degrees. They would not all go off at the same time because the individual bullet would have to get at the exact temperature before it would explode so each bullet would go off at a different time most likely.

For the clips that held 13 rounds, if he left those at the apartment then even though they would all be facing the same direction what would most likely happen is when the 1st one exploded then the whole clip would blow apart and the rest of the shells would be scattered about the apartment. And they would be facing in all different directions depending on where they land.

Also, if a bullet goes off in a fire, it does not come out of the shell at the same velocity as if it was in a gun. The reason for this is the shell does not have a back stop like it would in a gun.

Newtons Law = For every Action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

This works well for a bullet in a gun because the backstop is the receiver part of the gun that holds the shell in place. But if a bullet is just sitting around like on a floor, then when it explodes, the force would also blow the shell casing backwards if there is nothing to stop the casing.

So a random bullet going off by itself in a fire does not have the projectile come out with the same velocity as it does in a gun. There have been cases of firefighters saying they just kind of explode although they can be dangerous because the shrapnell from anything laying near them or the casing itself could injure someone.

Of coure if you even got hit with shrapnel from something laying near it or just the casing, it could do some serious damage like if you got hit in the eye with some shrapnel.

So if ever around bullets going off randomly in a fire. RUN.

ETA: Made some corrections after learning more about bullets in fires. Its rather interesting. The concensus on what I read is they typically are not as dangerous as you would think but since it is such a random thing and since whatever is around the shell could be shrapnell, they can still be dangerous.

Firefighters have the most experience with this since they encounter this quite often when fighting home fires and peoples ammunition starts to explode.

I think it was that he was no longer a student, so she felt her obligation was to the School...and since he was no longer involved with the school, her hands were tied.

At least that is what I HOPE she thought.

I of ccourse have never been around shells getting thrown in a fire but I think I know what would most likely happen. LOL

There is a warning on a box of shells to keep away from flame or heat.

ETA: I looked up some interesting info about it and posting below more about shells in fires.

I just looked up some websites trying to find the temperature at when a bullet will explode and the best I can find out is about 400 degrees.

Its interesting too that many factors come into play. Things like shotgun shells which have a plastic casing would melt the casing before it would go off so the shell may not even explode if a plastic shotgun shell.

And some lead begins to get soft before the 400 degrees and so the projecctile may not be intact.

So I guess it varies greatly and really depends on how hot a fire can get and how quickly the shell heats up.

Its rather interesting and the concensus seems to be it normally is less dangerous than you would think. Although it is such a random thing that if it got heated up real quickly and had a hard shell like copper bullet, it could still kill you if it hit you just right OR the shrapnel from anything laying near the bullet may hit you.

I even remember during 9/11 the firefighters were talking about ammunition going off in the ruins. I think from LE personell that had gotten killed by the buildings and their gun ammo was going off in the fires that occurred in the ruins of 9/11.

I noticed on the package he wrote "who, what where when and how"... However he didn't write "WHY"? Maybe a snub to Dr Fenton, as in a reminder she knows why he Did what he did? Considering he knows she would've received it after the fact. What do you guys think?

Notebook that JH mailed to doctor can be viewed because defendant waives doctor-patient privilege with insanity defense.

Sgt. Fyles is back on the stand, with 25 copies of the notebook in his hands. 24 copies will be distributed to jury.

My son is a firefighter. One of his first fires, he and another fire fighter were in the basement of a ranch home. All of a sudden the guys heard loud bangs. They did not realize at first what it was but knew to get out. The Chief soon found out the was a lot of ammo and guns in a safe and around the house per the newspaper. The ammo started going off and the guys left the basement right away. No one was hurt....the house was destroyed as it was too dangerous for anyone to go inside and fight the fire. I learned something that day. I am sur eye planned to leave the ammo laying around to go off and hurt even more people.

On page 35, "the obsession to kill since I was a kid with age became more and more realistic."

JH once fantasized about mass murder with nuclear or biological weapons. Later shifted to plans for mass murder

JH ruled out an airport attack because he was concerned it would be mistaken for an act of terrorism.
