I totally get that we have different reactions. In my mind I had built JH up into an evil monster. Seeing him on that video doesn't match with the idea I had. I do find myself thinking back to the victim testimony and the autopsy evidence too. I have to remember this is the same person who did all that.

No probs Maisie..But remember..he's had a whole lot of time to reflect on what he did..WHEN he did this he was COLD CALCULATING and has directly affected a whole City..and hundreds of folks physically, mentally and emotionally for the rest of their lives...Doe's his inability to socialize appropriately counter Their right's to live and be able to do what they wished too?

This case goes beyond being sensitive to his appearance of vulnerability..Those folk in that theatre..were Innocent..!! That's why the DP is being sought here ( tho I disagree with that myself)..

I truly wish..Laws would make sure people like JH ( fell thru cracks) could be held accountable and also get proper mental health treatment..
I'm not conflicted on this..But adamant on this....DP should and likely will be eventually outlawed..eventually IMO

ETA~~ Just wanted to add..Often empathic people sense far stronger identifications with those suffering ..(Count me in on that one )..But luckily, I learned how to use that empathy clinically, so I could be more helpful!/than an enabler to excuse things or disregard it in a clinical setting ( documentation so important)..More informations helps folks like Dr. Reid to analyze someone properly.....

For some reason his voice just doesn't equate to what I thought it would be...I thought he would come across with a rather higher pitched voice..or a very low tenor due to shyness...I can only imagine IF he ever decided to Yell or scream..He'd like blow the roof off your house!!!
Just hearing about Family..It appears that's the only sense for "Feelings" he has ( for what that's worth :facepalm..So sad really...that this sense wasn't enough to curtail his "Dastardly Deed" that he so well planned!!! WHY?

It appears he's incapable/able to FEEL empathy..which lends to Psychopathy/ Narcism..inability to relate another...tho knows full well repercussions of their actions....Dr. Reid is actually slowly but surely showing that..IMO

It also relates to Aspergers.

I absolutely agree with your comments. At the risk of becoming too personal again, I have a son with moderate Autism. I have a feeling my sadness is coming from seeing my own son struggling with social skills. When I see others with similar traits it must bring out my maternal side.

BUT Maisie..the difference is YOU know it..recognize it and have venue's to get him appropriate help/support..In JH's case his behaviour's were excused/overlooked/enabled..NEVER questioned...Completely different set of circumstances Honey Bunny :tantrum: I'm positive parent's never ever entertained there were ANY problems....SMH :tantrum::shame:
