Search continues for missing man last seen on Friday near Akron

A missing 31-year-old from Akron was last seen leaving his home on Friday and has now been reported missing. Anybody with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office said Jared Rozell Shook was last seen Friday morning driving away from his home near Akron in his 2006 Chevy Silverado single-cab pickup. The car's license plate is EJS-Z50.

The sheriff's office said it's not clear where he was headed.

On August 28, 2024 at approximately 1500 hours, Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Kit Carson County Sheriff’s Office stating they found the pickup belonging to Jared Shook near the Seibert area. A short time later, the body of Jared Shook was found.

Kit Carson County Corner took over the scene and will conduct their own investigation. Foul play is not suspected in this case and there is no threat to the public. No further details will be released at this time.
