Jessica's friend's father lived in the location on that map. It would have been out of the way for her friend to join her on their walk to school. If I recall correctly, her friend's parents were divorced. Does his mother live closer to Jessica's home?

The whole communication that morning took place with the father and the boy, with no mention of the boy's mother, one way or the other. The recent article that says she was walking to his house mentions that the route took her by Chelsea Park, which is how it appeared on the map that was posted.

I agree, and others said previously, that it does seem strange she would walk out of her way to his house, but this is what was reported.

I didn't hear it announced by LE either. I'm only repeating what I thought I read on here. I do know that for whatever reason a mod did ask that his address be removed from a map that was posted here.

Think it had to do with sleuthing a minor and sleuthing people who have not been identified by LE as persons of interest.

I'll ask again. Mom said she headed towards school. Which is one direction. Chelesa Park where she meets her friend to walk to school is in the other direction right?

So did her mom see her walk towards to school or towards Chelesa Park? If the friends house is on the way to Chelesa Park but not past it that would make sense. If it's past Chelesa Park that doesn't. Who walks past the normal meeting spot to a friend's so they can be driven to school, when the walk just to school itself is shorter?

Maybe her mom said she saw her walk out the door to school i.e. a general statement meaning she went out the door to go to school. But it's work knowing if she headed left towards the school or right away from it.

Her mother last saw her as she walked out the door. She did not walk outside to see what direction she was going, the last she saw her was at the door.

We know from the Denver post article that JR route was different that day, maybe bc of the snow. Instead of the park she was walking to the friends house, which was a 4-5 minute walk, to walk to school. I imagine that was the same general direction (toward the school) but probably was slightly different than normal.

So it seems unlikely it is some perp who was stalking her and waiting for her to walk by bc her route was different that day. It was a crime of opportunity, I think.

She probably got abducted bw 8:30-8:35 on the route to the friends house. I am not sure if that route takes her by the park. Otherwise she would have left home 8:30, she should have arrived at the friends house at 8:35. We know she did not arrive at 8:35 like she should have. When she did not arrive at 8:40, they left to get to school on time.

Since they have DNA, and they were cleared some suspects like the mom killer one, I imagine they also cleared the friends father as well as many neighbors in the area. They probably just are not announcing it because they do not want to bring unwarranted attention to these people or make the media think that they were once suspects. LE would not be bringing up the pond attack or talking about a predator at large if they thought it was someone in the immediate neighborhood especially after it has been a few weeks. It has been 2 weeks, I believe that they probably went through all the men on the route and found nothing.

That is why this case is so intriguing. 9 times out of 10 it is usually someone close, and they get the person fairly soon. I don't think LE has any idea of who this person is and unlike many cases, it is probably not someone close bc 1) they would have cleared them by DNA; or 2) they would be watching them like a hawk if they refused to give DNA. They apparently thought the mom killer guy was their man but DNA cleared him., which makes me think they do not have a 2 situation. I imagine all who were close gave DNA.

That Denver Post article is a great one, for sure.

Let's us know that Jessica was indeed walking to her friend's home and not the park that day....

I remember some of us had been questioning Jessica's route earlier due to some information in the rewind from the scanner thread.

So I wasn't too surprised to read the following from the Denver article: "Dispatch tapes recorded from that day show police trying to piece together the events and find people who knew Jessica."

I wish we knew their other sources as well.

Back to JR's backpack. Can I just get some clarity here? Was her backpack found in a paper bag or by itself? Anyone know for sure?

All signs point to NO (not found inside a paper bag), including the article currently being discussed.

The Denver post article also says the backpack was found upright, so it was not tossed out the window. It was placed nicely so the perp likely had to get out of the car or walk it there.

And that the remains were found in a black garbage bag.

However, a lot of the article just organizes info we already had, when I wish they could get some more details.

I wonder if they will be able to trace the garbage bag to a particular store or somewhere not that it helps much just clutching at straws and reminded of the duct tape in Caylee's case.

Someone said something, either unthread or on the last thread, about it being a good thing the trash collecting crew didn't just toss Jessica's remains without realizing what it was. That made zero sense to me when I read it, because it thought, "How could they not realize it was a dismembered body they were picking up, and just throw it out?" But now that we know her body was found inside a garbage bag, that comment makes sense. If they hadn't noticed that the bag felt strange, they might have just tossed it with the rest other trash they were picking up.

I would definitely expect that to be an angle they would investigate.

So if she walked to the friends home- not the park- and they had already left for school, could a neighbor have seen her and offered a ride?

I still don't understand why the father of the boy who was going to give Jessica a ride to school that morning did not call Jessica's home when she didn't show up.

I doubt it is gang related because the abduction and murder of little girls with absolutely no gang connection is just not a gang thing to do.

Plus, chances are that this perp has lower than normal social skills; this is just a guess based on an FBI paper I read that said that, in general, perps that abduct/murder younger victims have low social skills. Having low social skills is not consistent with being in a gang. Being in a gang actually requires a high level of social skills because of the balance of cooperation, support and challenge involved.

Likewise, if this perp is satanic, he's a loner. He's not associated with any known group.

I still think that the cross was something the perp was given by someone who was significant to him (mother, sister, girlfriend). I don't think the cross, in and of itself, was that significant to him. Just the associations that particular cross had for him.

When I thought of gang or satanic related.I thought of more of an initiation type thing mainly because of the area she was found because someone said the area was used for things like that before. It's probably not gang related. But I do think the satanic angle should be looked into.

Maybe he tried. Remember, jessicas mother was asleep.

It wasn't that he was going to give her a ride; she was going to walk to school with the boy, but when it got late and she hadn't shown up, the father drove the son. That is what has been reported.

The cross is creepy, with the cuts in it especially. Very unique, and seems old, so, that doesn't line up with a young perp. Could it be his Grandmother's?

Has TOD or COD been released?

The proximity to the Lake makes me think of Lyric and Elizabeth.

Based on what has been reported and the scanner info, I would not think he did. There was no mention of it, by either the father or Jessica's mother. She said her first knowledge that Jessica was missing was the voicemail from school, and the father did not say he tried to reach the mom. JMO

<snipped for readability>
I just wanted to mention, too, that I don't really think the attempted abduction of the 8 year-old boy and the one of the 22 year-old woman are related. The kids described the man as 5'"-6' tall, which could just mean he looks bigger to kids tan to adults, but he was bald when the first attack happened. About 3 weeks later he had enough hair for her to notice the color of it even with a hat on. I could see it if he had hair, and had shaved it off 3 weeks later, but I'm not too sure about the other way around.

Wig. They mentioned that possibility with the suspect in the Cody WY rape last week.

That doesen't make any difference IMO, at all, I mean a grown up, a parent, make a meeting arrangement with a 10 year old girl who is a friend of his son, so they can walk together to school, and she doesn´t show up, why on earth didn't he call her and ask like; "are you on your way?" or somthing???
I find it very odd indeed.

Someone mentioned Somer Thompson's case as one where there wasn't an arrest right away in a (non-family) child murder. It took 5 months. Was there the same sense of fear and caution in Somer's community? Or less so, because some people thought the mom was involved?

Yes, there was a sense of fear and caution in Somer Thompsons neighborhood. There was extra patrol on Halloween in pretty all of Jacksonville. Most people did not take their children trick or treating that year.

Ran across this blog and thought I should mention it since it mentions Websleuths and even has posted links to all the discussion threads. If this is out of TOS then please remove the link.

Some very nice things mentioned about WS in the link, and the blogger seems to know some details. But, I'm stuck on the former prosecutors' statement about finding the body "facing in different directions". I mean, there's the MSM statement about the body being found in a plastic garbage bag? Do we combine both statements and "assume" there were multiple bags?

The MSM statement is linked/quoted in the very next post (#1108), but I cannot figure out how to "multi-quote". I haven't had enough coffee to make my brain work, yet. :notgood: Could someone help me out for the future, please!
