Wow
The girlfriend in the news tonight: "I will always have a place for him in my heart" and "you're not a bad guy, you just did a bad thing". I pray to God her parents will get her in some serious therapy. If she really feels that way, she needs help in determining what a good man is. :-/. Bless her heart.

I think immediately following the discovery someone you know committed a heinous act, your emotions and reactions to them are not your friend! After reality sinks in, things may change.

Thank you. Her face is all swollen and hurts her, but doc said she will be okay. She is a wire hair fox terrier and just too nosey. But, scary for me and I feel bad for her. Glad for the arrest but still seems there are unanswered questions. Thanks again.
Sounds like my two Jack Russell Terriers.

In this article...AS waived his rights... and made a confession...

Could this be reversed in the future.. on grounds that he was "having a bad hair day", or whatever other excuses perps use when they lawyer up?

TIA for any legal info you sleuthers can provide...

I must admit I have issues with this....

I hope they went by the book to make sure the confession was valid. They probably videotaped it,etc and bc he was a minor they got mom to waive too.

Still lawyers will come along and say something was amiss. I believe in the Jessica Lunsford case they got a confession, I think but then lawyers tried to get it kicked out and they were successful. Couey asked for a lawyer I think so the judge threw it out. Hopefully they went by the book here,

Excellent point. Did he get out of the car, grab her, drag her in and strangle her right there in the vehicle on the side of the road? Did he use his bare hands? a rope? This sounds planned. Why was she hog tied if she was already dead?

I am thinking and hoping he used ether to subdue her. how on else could her get her in the car and tied up without her fighting and screaming? I hope this is the case b/c then she just never knew what hit her, and what came after.

I hav\e just been able to get back on the forum because my dog got bitten by a copperhead and I have been at the emergency vet dealing with that.

So, has there been any indication that JR knew this person or if any of her friends knew him? tia

Jeepers, mck, so sorry to hear about your furry friend. I hope he will be ok. We once had a little kitty that got bit twice by a copperhead. It was late at night but we called up the vet and he got up and made a house call to see how big the copperhead was. Fortunately, the sweet kitty lived after her treatment but the copperhead had a horrible death.
By horrible, I mean my husband took an axe to attack him and missed him countless times, as the copperhead jumped from side to side in what resembled a dance move, as he tried to fend off the madman I call "Honey." While in his anger, my husband attacked furiously but only managed to cut the bottom rows of siding on our home. Finally, FINALLY, macho man hit his mark and the bad guy was gone.

That was the most expensive evening my husband and I have shared in 30 years of marriage. It was hundreds in the house call vet bill....and more hundreds for the wood siding to be replaced and painted. We could have taken a cruise instead! But no....we did the crazy thing and saved the life of a kitty whose name has long ago been forgotten...that makes us laugh at this point in our lives.

People talk about how violent video games or "torture 🤬🤬🤬🤬" movies desensitize people, but what about the 24/7 media coverage on crime cases? On ABC News' website at this moment, I see headlines about Jessica, 3 people killed in shooting, an execution in Texas for a 1991 murder, the missing baby in PA, the woman who murdered Sylvia Likens, Skakel being denied parole, and the Fort Hood massacre.

I thought I read earlier that he confessed twice, once to his mom, once to LE. If he confessed to LE, I am sure they did it correctly, I know I read that he waived his rights, which means he declined a lawyer. Of course that won't stop a defense attorney from trying, if the client was to plead NG.

If everyone that had ever been bullied ended up a murderer the earth would be mighty unpopulated.

It always seems like excuses are searched for when someone is arrested.

Sorry if I'm repeating anyone who posted before me, but I don't think people are looking for excuses. They are looking for reasons--reasons that enable them to make some sort of sense of the unthinkable. Human nature has a great need to believe that the world makes some kind of sense.

But there was also the high-profile baby murder in that general spot. Was that coincidence?

Depends on if he knew about it, I think.

I know that of my two nephews, one follows the news avidly and would fill me in on all the details. The other one would look at me blankly and say "what baby murder? there was a baby murder? ... hey, Auntie Grainne, did I tell you I made level umpty-jillion in my online game?"

Yeah, they are brothers and only 13 months apart in age.

"I've read a few news articles about the arrest and they say, " He will be charged with two counts of first-degree murder as well as kidnapping charges. His first court appearance will be Thursday at 8 a.m. MT (10 a.m. ET)."

Is this a misprint or is he being charged for another murder?

Also, if it wasn't for his mother turning him in, was he even on the police radar as a suspect?

they explained that in the press conf but I didn't pay close enough attn. It was only to do with Jessica I believe but I can't remember why 2 counts.

Ohhh, I hope they don't release Mom's phone call. I can't see what what the benefit would be. I suppose it falls under FOIA though...it just doesn't seems right. The poor Mom.

Parents divorced in 2000.....dads problems seem to be mostly after 2000.

Seeing what savagery was inflicted on the little body of Jessica might turn sympathetic feelings for AS into feelings of disgust.....

OK, I've been out most of the day and at the moment and just checking back in on the news, there is a Breaking News banner at top of the 9news.com home page that states "Remains found at suspect's home"

Is this NEW news, or old news?

TIA

Old as in hours, maybe new depending on when you last caught up though.

Well, we've been told that they were looking for remains, presumably Jessica's, but nothing clarified by LE as yet. Media trying to make it sound like remains of other people, of course, without any facts as yet.

I think the fact that only one article brought up the house being nearby tells me that it couldn't be that high-profile. I'm sure there are murder cases in Denver news all the time, that come and go.

I carry rope in my car (as well as duct tape and wire), but mine are for tying on mattresses :) , Christmas Trees, and wiring on broken alternators. Just saying it isn't unusual to have such in a car (or am I really the only one?)

Not any duct tape, but a pen knife, a fish bat, rope and whistle. Not to mention a prayer and my little yellow ducky....LOL :)
