I tend to agree with you about that. I can't think of a scenario where the abductor would wait for 36 hours or so (IIRC) and then drop the backpack in an out-of-the-way neighborhood in an effort to get rid of evidence. It seems that in the same period of time, he could easily have disposed of it in a much less conspicuous place.

That's why I think it was deliberately left there in an attempt to misdirect the investigation. I have no idea why it was left in that particular neighborhood, though, since it is apparently an out-of-the-way area. Maybe the neighborhood has some significance to the abductor, or maybe he just drove around aimlessly until he came upon the neighborhood.

IMO, if the abductor was calm enough to hang onto the backpack for so long before dumping/planting it (as opposed to dumping it in the nearest trash bin), then I don't see him being a panicky first time offender. I think the abductor has probably done this before, or has fantasized about it down to the last detail. JMO.

Didnt someone say it was an easy way to a shopping center to go that way.
Could it be someone that works out that way? Is there a walmart?

I am really not liking LE's statements about no evidence of abduction and then the other one, that no reason to think someone is going to take other children, or something like that (don't have the quote.) Why say those things, when it appears LE does not have a handle on this case and at least to me, that this is certainly not a runaway case?

I feel that if someone intended to change her appearance and take her out of state, the bag would not be appearing 2 days later.

Maybe they wanted it to appear it was an abduction!

Twitter is going nuts, lots of eyes and awareness out there for Jessica right now!!

This may be a stupid questions, but....

Why is it that they are starting with the "open areas"? I understand that they're easier to search, to get them out of the way quickly and move on, but how likely is it that a child would be taken to an open area? I can understand searching the open areas through which she walked, but I got the feeling that they're just searching all open areas (even those over by where the backpack was found). To me, this seems like a waste of time, when there's already been so much lost time.

i think because people dump bodies in fields.

Has anyone seen/heard any info regarding the arrangements while mom is working the nightshift? Am I missing something? I can't seem to find where anyone has questioned that. Certainly she doesn't stay home alone during that time?!

I think they live with Grandmother and aunt! So she would not be alone,
When did they last see Jessica?

Also, when she went missing, the weather was not ideal, less people out on the trails/ open areas for hunting etc.., more ideal for people with bad intentions.

Jessica's home is about 500 ft. north of the park on Moore Street. She meets her friends somewhere in Chelsea Park, then they walk south and cross the open space to Witt Elementary School.

Thanks ... so the report that she was last seen at 107 Avenue and Moore Street must be a generalization?

Do you have a link giving more information than the above street information that has been provided in the media?

I believe someone said there is a Target near there, but that the actual neighborhood where the backpack was found is in an out-of-the-way area that most people wouldn't even know was there.

I cannot believe it's taken this long for this info to come out. I doubt it has anything to do with Jessica's disappearance but stuff like this usually comes out immediately. I found the info as soon as we found out his name.

Also, it mentions in this article that Immigration Customs Enforcement is now involved. Did I miss that along the way or is this new info?

Thanks, Beth. It just seem contradictory to the impression they're leaving (as least to me). I get the feeling that there is evidence, or at least a belief, that she may be still alive. It seems to me that their time would be better served looking for "clues", rather than bodies. I know they need to cover every angle, but......

OK so a change of clothes could point to her running away. However, I don't think a runaway would remove her glasses. I also don't think that if this was a custody issue, her father (or other person) would remove her glasses either, unless they had harmed her. I wonder if she had a second pair of glasses at home and if so, has LE located them? If they are missing as well, then I'd think the perp could be a family member. A 10-year-old I feel is likely too young to run away on her own but IF she did, I have a hard time believing she'd think of bringing along her backup glasses.

IMO it appears that LE believes she is still alive, based on several comments.

It certainly seems like whoever it is wants to erase who she was in totality, imo. Maybe making her over in their image of her.

He talked about ICE in the press conference, as I recall, it has to do with their "searching" abilities, which is the focus happening today.

The search for missing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway of Westminster continues Monday, with 12 agencies and 125 people searching a triangular area from Colo. 128 (West 120th Avenue) to Colo. 93 then back along U.S. 36, including Eldorado Canyon. Volunteers continue to post flyers throughout the west Metro area, although they have not been asked to participate in the search.
