Here's my read:

The tweets from Westy PD and the fact that there's a new batch of flyers with several pictures of her that people can put up around town suggest that they're hopeful that she is still alive and they're hoping someone will see her. There was a lot about focusing on her facial features, recognizing that she might not be wearing her glasses now, that she's probably wearing different clothes (that one really makes sense to me because I'm a terrible face person who's more likely to recognize someone's hat than that person without a hat). As soon as they put out a PDF of the flyer, I'm going to print some and put them on my fence and in nearby areas.

As far as the statement about not having a person who's going around kidnapping kids, my guess is that any profile for her abduction doesn't suggest the perp is likely to grab another kid soon. I haven't taken it to be "no worries, it's all good" so much as "yes, this is terrifying but it doesn't mean you should be sitting next to your back door with a baseball bat." (Disclaimer: some raccoons were fighting on my deck last night around midnight, which makes quite a thumping racket. It completely flipped me out. When I turned on the light they were gone but one of them had peed on my deck--but all I could see at the time were wet spots. I'd actually heard raccoon noises and it all sounded like raccoons...but it didn't stop me from thinking that it was blood. [No, it wasn't. It was raccoon pee. Also, ick.] I'd guess the Westy and Arvada PDs are dealing with a ton of calls from paranoid parents.)

Focusing Search on the open areas between her home and Rock Creek Subdivision.

Denver PD helping with today's search. Remote controlled surveillance being used.

OK so a change of clothes could point to her running away. However, I don't think a runaway would remove her glasses. I also don't think that if this was a custody issue, her father (or other person) would remove her glasses either, unless they had harmed her. I wonder if she had a second pair of glasses at home and if so, has LE located them? If they are missing as well, then I'd think the perp could be a family member. A 10-year-old I feel is likely too young to run away on her own but IF she did, I have a hard time believing she'd think of bringing along her backup glasses.

IMO it appears that LE believes she is still alive, based on several comments.

From the presser: Possible "witness information that makes LE believe she was on her way to school and did not make it". No other details are being given.

It just makes sense that her abductor would change her appearance to avoid her being identified readily. Take off the glasses, change clothes, cut hair and change color of hair. People need to concentrate on her facial features.

It makes perfect sense if they think that she's alive and being transported for sure.

Sadly, imo, Jessica's abduction scenario brings back memories of the Samantha Runnion abduction; 2002 Stanton, Orange County , CA.

She could even be dressed as a boy.

She seems really young to be a "true" runaway. I remember running away at that age. This entailed going around the block a few times and then coming back home.

Regarding changing her appearance....I can see even an inexperienced perp thinking of that. I can see him doing the obvious - cutting hair, changing clothes, etc.....but removing her glasses? To me, that's a small detail that I'm not sure every inexperienced perp would consider, b/c they're viewed as more of a "necessity" than an "alteration of appearance" IMO. So.......if the perp is savvy enough to think of removing her glasses, I'd think he'd be savvy enough to hide the backpack. To me, this screams of either someone taunting with the police (which I don't believe b/c I'd think there would have been other similar area crimes) OR, more likely IMO, someone who is trying to make it APPEAR like an abduction.

I have a bad, bad feeling about that backpack being put in a place where is would be easily found. It is almost like a taunt. I also think it was meant to throw police off.

Witness info. states that she was on her way to school at 8:30.

Is this from pressor Surfie? Any more on what this witness saw Friday morning?

Hi all, I don't post often but read frequently!

I just wanted to say that something about the phrase 'there is a good chance she has changed clothes' bothers me. If the clothes she wore to school that day were found in her backpack, what makes them say she changed clothes, rather than them being removed from her body? If mom noticed additional clothes missing from her room, that would suggest that maybe Jessica planned to disappear (though I think 10 is awfully young to run away or meet someone online?) The wording 'there is a good chance she has changed clothes' implies to me voluntary action on Jessica's part and it isn't sitting well with me.

Maybe there's a "good" chance that she's changed clothes because it has been 3 1/2 days, and if the opportunity arose, we all would. I'm not seeing that wording as particularly concerning, personally.

Has anyone seen/heard any info regarding the arrangements while mom is working the nightshift? Am I missing something? I can't seem to find where anyone has questioned that. Certainly she doesn't stay home alone during that time?!

My thought on why the backpack was left there is that the person has been staying in Westminster with her, and put the packpack where it was so LE would focus more in that area so he could get out of town in the other direction with less chance of them stopping him and searching his vehcicle. It could be someone from out of town who was there for the weekend, or it could be somebody local who wanted to leave town to get rid of her.

I'm guessing that they found her clothes and glasses in the backpack, which doesn't sound promising, but it would if they found some freshly cut hair on the shirt or something.

Her grandmother lives with Jessica and her mom.

Police say Jessica's mother works an overnight shift and her grandmother watches her at night. When Jessica's mother got home at 7:30 a.m. she saw Jessica off to school at 8:30 a.m., according to 9NEWS reporter Kevin Torres.

Huh? Is this a mistake?

No, they went to MO to interview her father, and search Jessica's grandmother's home. (I think the father and grandmother live together).

This was discussed on Thread #1. Jessica's grandmother watches her at night.

Yes, that was from the brief presser.

I'm rather sad that DNA is being taken from the home. :(
