I think people can't help thinking of what they feel they would do, in a similar situation, that they would want any chance to get on TV, maybe the tiny chance that their child might see them or hear their message to the child. In fact, who knows what one would really, but I think most people feel they would be itching to get on camera to try to plea for safe return and to tell child they loved them.

You don't know what you will do until you are there. When my son was missing, I was in shock for the first few hours. Your mind tells you that this isn't real. But this I can assure you, I would move heaven and earth if it was within my power. Facing the camera? You bet. I would get on my knees and beg if it helped me find my son.

LE asked me to make some important but difficult phone calls, receive some uncomfortable calls, and make a personal plea for phone and other records to try to help them avoid the time it would take to get court orders. I did it willingly...grateful to be allowed to help. Thankfully, our son was located 3 days later and was relatively physically safe. But life has never been the same for our family. Ever.

Dealing with the aftermath of his disappearance eventually led me to Websleuths. It has been very therapeutic for me to be here...and to see the love and concern that the members here have for people they have never met.

I treasure every one of you.

Ditto times 1000 or more!
I would hope and want my child to know I was looking for him/her, any stories by the perp to the contrary were false, and that I love them and will never stop until I find them! And I would want the world to know and to help find my child!
I would make myself plea on every ear I could get to!
I also feel I would be so devastated, worried, in shock, etc. That I wouldn't be able to eat, sleep, function. But I would do whatever I had to let my child know that I am coming to get them.

I do not know if I could speak... knowing I did not hear and answer the school's phone call...

Shefner, for what you went through. Thanks for sharing your story.

That was wrong of me to call him a name, occasionally my fingers don't do what my brain tells them to

I was about to use some very similar language :p Thank you for saving me.

I noticed her ears are pierced also. I wonder if she has any scars or birthmarks?

I thought I saw,the clear band braces... Was that noticed by anyone else?

Jessica Ridgeway's missing-child case brings flood of memories to the parent of Jaryd Atadero

link

Oh this makes me sad. Allyn Atadero was a teacher of mine a long time ago. Hopefully he can help parents of other missing kids like Jessica's family. He dedicated a lot of effort to finding his son and has written a book about his son's story.

Some have mentioned that the picture of Jessica without her glasses looks significantly different than the pictures of her with them on. Specifically referring to this poster:

I think it's actually the angle of the shot (probably the only one they had of her without glasses) that makes her features look distorted. I see it with pictures of my DD-when she has a super-close up shot like the one Jessica is in, it makes the bridge of her nose look much wider than it actually is. Example:

vs.

With that in mind, I tried to photoshop Jessica's glasses out of her school picture:

It's far from perfect, but I think it gives a better representation of what her face looks like than the close-up shot :moo:

Your DD is darling!

I didn't see the post before it had been edited so I have no idea what you called him but it couldn't have been half as bad as the things going through my mind. I'm really disheartened with some of the things reporters have did regarding this missing child today.

*** First post ever****My friend alerted me to this place after seeing my posts elsewhere about the case

I've been reading this thread all day. I live about a mile from where the backpack was found and spent my morning w/two of my children and a neighbor distributing fliers to local businesses.

The Sheriff substation is a block from my house (we have no local police force) and we saw helicopters take off and land, the horse trailers, and many LEs. I heard they were searching a near by pond as well as sending off unmanned drones and searching the open space with infrared. They are also still using bloodhounds, ATVs, and traveling on foot to search around here. I do not know what is going on down in Westminister but I have a close friend who lives about a mile away from her house.

The prayer vigil that is tomorrow night is organized by my church and I will be there.

FBI agents arrived at the home a few minutes later and all of them went inside the house.

Joseph reports two sex offenders live near the home that was the subject of this particular visit from law enforcement.

from article

did I read it correctly when it reported the owner came out 15 minutes after LE knocked on door and started looking through trash cans, etc.

If so... Why the delay?

I do not know if I could speak... knowing I did not hear and answer the school's phone call...

That's an error, which I am certain hurts like heck! The guilt must be overwhelming!
But, respectively, wouldn't that come in 2nd place if you needed your child and media and locals and country to know that you love them, are looking for them, going to find them? And to plea for everybody's help?
I would move heaven and earth to find my child. And I would want them to know that! I might even tell them I am so sorry mom fell asleep. But I would get out there and scream at the top of my lungs to anyone that would listen!

ITA that this LE attempt at not panicking the community..this case is far from the first where we have seen LE make near identical statements to attempt at not ensuing panic.. Ive always agreed with those that believe LE should not take this route in calming their community, but rather should say there is no need for panic but do be vigilant in watching your children and others children as well..to keep aware of your surroundings and those around you and your children..especially as Salen stated earlier when we know there have been multiple attempts of abduction in this area recently..on top of Jessica now missing..

But unfortunately for whatever reasons lE go the route as weve just seen in this case..no worries, no kidnapper on the loose..which unfortunately then leads many to speculate that means Jessica wasnt even abducted or not abdu cted by someone outside the fam/friend circle.....again as salem stated this statement by LE is absurd due to the fact irregardless of Jessica's case there very much is a predator on the loose attempting to abduct our children..and you can count on his continuing to attempt to hunt and catch his prey..our chilren!

y

Maybe LE is not afraid of mob mentality.. But maybe trying to avoid that one person who becomes hysterical.. Then does some outlandish action.. Then sues LE for creating him/her to go whacky doodle...

Jessica is cute as a button.
Hope she is found soon- like now.

Per the article about searching the home...It's possible that the homeowner did not answer because he/she thought the media was at the door looking for a story. It's also possible that the person was trying to avoid the police.

Good ideas... But I would think LE/FBI would clearly announce themselves within a few minutes time at the door.

JMO

And yes... The owner may have been going potty... Or taking a shower...

who knows... :dunno:

FOX31 Denver’s Justin Joseph reports two police cars pulled up to the house at about 5 p.m. Officers went up to the front door and knocked on it.

No one answered, so they went to the garbage cans on the side of the house and started going through them.

Joseph reports that 15 minutes later the person who lives at the home came out

I know you can all identify when I say that this mom would beat herself up, even if she answered the school's call that day. When something happens to your child, you automatically start a mind game:
"Why didn't I do this?" "Why did I let her go there?" "Why didn't I just drive him?" "Why can't I remember what he had on?" "Why did I fall asleep" "Why didn't I tell her I loved her that morning?"

It's never-ending and it does absolutely no good. The child is not the only victim of these crimes....the entire family unit is traumatized. Forever.
Its horrible.
My prayers are continuous for Jessica and her family.

This struck me as odd when you posted it yesterday (or was it the day before?). Why would a pest control truck be pulling a motor home.
I assume you mean the type that is more like a trailer correct?

A small service truck:
images

I'm not aware if it's a pest control truck, that's not his occupation. If I could find the video of it from yesterday pulling the motor home I would link....it was a white service truck, but not sure of any emblem or even if there was one. There is one on G maps in the driveway, with an emblem, but I can't read it. (blue & white) JMO

The bolded words are important, and I would follow Marc K.'s advice over anyone, unless LE said not to, which I do not believe they have.

If I had legal counsel, I would follow that advice over anyone. IMO it is naive to assume parent(s) will be presumed innocent, all due respect to Marc Klass.
