*** First post ever****My friend alerted me to this place after seeing my posts elsewhere about the case

I've been reading this thread all day. I live about a mile from where the backpack was found and spent my morning w/two of my children and a neighbor distributing fliers to local businesses.

The Sheriff substation is a block from my house (we have no local police force) and we saw helicopters take off and land, the horse trailers, and many LEs. I heard they were searching a near by pond as well as sending off unmanned drones and searching the open space with infrared. They are also still using bloodhounds, ATVs, and traveling on foot to search around here. I do not know what is going on down in Westminister but I have a close friend who lives about a mile away from her house.

The prayer vigil that is tomorrow night is organized by my church and I will be there.

Welcome! Thanks for the local info. I'm all the way over on the west coast but I'll be at the vigil in spirt.

Did any one else besides the mom actually see Jessica that morning?
Where was aunt and grandma?
Have any of them talked to LE?

The only thing I can find is a mention on KDVR's ongoing blog.

From Materasso:
Westminster PD does have a witness providing information that makes police believe Ridgeway was on her way to school but did not make it.

http://kdvr.com/2012/10/08/live-blog-search-continues-for-jessica-ridgeway/

I searched for a long time trying to find this actual quote by LE but was unable to find anything. So, for the time being, I can't make any assumptions as to who was the last person to see Jessica. MOO It's too soon to assume anything or rule out anyone.

I am sure that LE has questioned the family extensively. I haven't heard of any attorneys consulting the family.

9News reporting Jessica's school may revise its notification policy.

I'm in CO. My son's school has a long contact form.

First they'd call me, cell & work.
If they didn't reach me they'd call dad, cell & work.
If they didn't reach him, they'd call stepmom.

Not blaming the school at all, but a longer contact list might be a good idea.

I also chose not to ever turn my cell off anytime my son wasn't with me.
They do have a long contact list for emergencies, but until recently, a kid not showing up at school and not called in on the attendance line was because someone forgot or a kid was skipping class.

When my kid bumped her head on the playground a few weeks ago, they called my home phone first, left a message, and then called my cell phone. She was just fine and had already gone back to class, but it was nice that they followed up on both. If it had been something requiring medical attention, I'm sure they would have kept calling the numbers listed until someone answered.

I'm sure they'll revisit the policy, particularly because Jeffco is no stranger to tragedies. The real problem is that they're not staffed enough for it (serious budget cuts during the past four years, with another big one possibly down the pipeline). If it comes, the school secretaries who would make the calls are going to be cut down to half-days in most schools.

The agents were exploring if the girl might have taken shelter in a parked car during the cold weekend, if she snuck into a house or garage or if someone might be hiding her, homeowners told Hernandez.

Residents said the agents were also asking, "Did you hear anything out of the ordinary-- any noises or slamming doors? Or have you seen anything out of the ordinary?" Hernandez recounted.

Neighbor Kerry Viney said the investigators also asked if he'd noticed suspicious vehicles or any workers who had recently come into the neighborhood.

(snipped)

Again this is just my take on my research that I have gathered, and wanted to collaborate with you all on this information. I also apologize if any of the information posted is not allowed here because of any reason.

Whether or not this man has anything to do with Jessica, it sounds like Arvada LE ought to be made aware of it.

Ive always admired your posts but had no idea of the personal history behind them. Thank you for sharing that

Wow Shef.. I too have always admired your posts. Thanks for sharing..

we all have our own stories, dont we. Much love, my ws friend.

Shefner, I hope you would be willing to go tell that story on a facebook page for Lisa Irwin called Together for Lisa 3.0. I don't know how much i'm allowed to say here, but one of the reasons many many people suspect the mom is because of her refusal to put any effort into finding her daughter or talking to police, etc. She even said she didn't check the back yard during her initial search for lisa because she was "afraid of what she might find." Um- if I found my daughter in need of help in the back yard, that would be a far better outcome than not finding her after a year, dontcha think? Rant over.

I have done some research since the start of this incident and have drawn together my own opinion or suspicions. While searching for some RSO's in the area I found one that matches the description of a POI in a few attempted abductions in the Arvada area. The article about the POI describes his MO to target younger females in neighborhoods and around community centers. The article is here http://apexprd.org/arvada-police-release-composite-sketch-child-abduction-attempts. If you look at the picture provided in his RSO registry and his booking picture from his 2008 arrest you can see that the sketch bares are very close resemblance. Here is the 2008 arrest report, just search for Douglas C. http://www.coloradoicac.com/arrests/2008.html. Those of you who are thinking that the backpack might have been a false flag, his residential address is almost in the exact opposite direction of the pack. He is at 10351 W 101st Ave Westminster, CO 80021.

Hi and welcome to WS first time poster!
That's specific information. You may want to edit out the last name - just use the initial. Did you call this research into the tip line? If not, are you willing to do so? Seems that LE should check this info out. Thanks.
