There is currently no person of interest in the investigation, Matterasso said.

About Jessica's father, who lives in Kansas City, Matterasso said that there was a custody dispute but no members of the girl's family are suspected in the disappearance.

Matterasso said there was no indication that a random child abductor is on the loose

No family members are suspected. No random abductor of children thought to be on the loose.
That would lead me to believe a specific child abductor is suspected, yet there is no person of interest. What does that leave? I dont think she ran away.

BBM

That's about the only option we have left - unless it is a family friend?

Narrowing down the reports from LE... A family friend seems to be a plausible scenario.

An excellent example of jurisdictional linkage blindness.:

White van approached children in Arvada Thursday while they walked home from school

ARVADA, Colo. - Although police have said they don't believe a person is abducting children at random, they are aware of a case in which a white van approached children in Arvada one day before a girl vanished in Westminster.

*****************************************

"Luv this SC Sheriff's response in a previous missing person's investigation"..

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott has activated his major crimes unit – a team of veteran investigators. He said Wednesday he is highly concerned about the 15-year-old girl’s vanishing with no trace.

“We’ve put our best people on this,” Sheriff Lott said in an interview. “We’re going to work this like it’s something bad, in hopes that it turns out to be something good.”

I am surprised to hear that there's only one reporter outside of a house where a missing child, whose case has gotten local and national coverage, lives....

Unexpectedly decent of the media. I didn't think most of them had it in them and was glad to hear I was wrong.

Of course, there's always someone who is attempting to lower the bar of civilised behaviour below ground level.

On the coloradoicac link 2008 there are too many sickos to choose from.
If I encountered any one of ninety percent of these guys in person, I'd run for the hills. What an ugly bunch.
And to think they want to get with little girls. Are these guys free to roam the streets?

I feel sick.

I'm not trying to imply or suggest anything but it's been bugging me all day. Has anyone noticed that Jessica and Elizabeth Collins look similar? Especially, in the eyes and smile.

But they say no POI.

my point exactly....they are talking in circles/squares or whatever

No POI
No Family members
No Random adbuctor

that leaves

Known abductor
family friends, etc...

Looking at the icac list, there's not a, as in one, abductor on the loose. LE's not lying. Potentially there are at least twenty near enough to where Jessica lives to do her harm. Geesh! We should all be in panic mode at all times as far as I'm concerned. Who says there's not a devil?

Ditto times 1000 or more!
I would hope and want my child to know I was looking for him/her, any stories by the perp to the contrary were false, and that I love them and will never stop until I find them! And I would want the world to know and to help find my child!
I would make myself plea on every ear I could get to!
I also feel I would be so devastated, worried, in shock, etc. That I wouldn't be able to eat, sleep, function. But I would do whatever I had to let my child know that I am coming to get them.
Jmo

People differ, I guess.

I think I would tend towards paranoia: what if I said something that enraged the perp and triggered him or her to take it out on my hypothetical child? Or what if I said something that messed up LE efforts to find my child?

I am also a strategic thinker. Right now, this story is all over the national media. No need for me to feed the sharks. My appearing in the media would likely only work well once, so I'd want to save my first appearance for the awful possibility that at some point in the future my child still needed media attention.

My mama taught me to hope for the best and plan for the worst. She never steered me wrong.

I'm confused - we can't name registered sex offenders who might be connected?

We're not supposed to name them directly on the threads but we are allowed to provide a link to an RSO if it makes sense to the case (like this DC guy does imo). Because even though they are bad guys we have no evidence they are related to this case. If LE names somebody as a POI, then we can talk freely about that person. And like someone else pointed out, there are levels of RSOs.

That's the same area of Arvada as the incident with the sketch (where the person trying to lure people was at Fitzmorris Elementary). But the guy at Fitzmorris was driving a blue four-door sedan. Not like he couldn't have two vehicles, of course. The other incident involving the blue sedan took place either out by Quaker Lake or Warder Elementary, depending on which news reports you believe. I think Quaker Lake is the correct one, given what I remember when they sent the letter home (the letter from the district says Fitzmorris but doesn't give the location of the other, perhaps because it didn't happen at a school). I'd remember if it had been Warder, because I shop in that neighborhood frequently and my daughter's school is nearby.

It seems more likely that it would be someone from the neighborhood though who monitor what the kids were doing without being observed easily.
