bbm: I was thinking today... maybe he dropped the rag?

the cross at that point wouldn't have to be tied to the jogger so much. If they have dna match between the two cases and find the cross with the perp dna then the cross most likely matches the description the jogger gave.

did that make any sense? It did to me when I was thinking it in my head LOL

Hey now! We've not had that point brought up, and that would explain why the police didn't say "Recent fresh wounds or healing scars to the hands or face", when stating what to look for. Good point nurse!

The other attempted abduction in 2010 at ketner Lake which bore striking resemblance to the one in may 2012 which know for a fact was ARS as the perp.

Statistics would indicate Jessica was deceased within 3 hours of her kidnap.

I pray this is correct in this case and she never knew what happened.

Just a note - rigor mortis doesn't last forever. It passes leaving the body flexible again.

Although we can't really tell her flesh tone from the photos, the level of decomp wasn't noted but suspected to be minimal. So while rigor is a factor in most cases, it's not when it's body parts such as the torso in this sort of fashion (I'm so trying to make this not as gory as it sounds). If she had been out there longer than a few hours, animals would have gotten to her.

I believe that was AS as well. I think he's been active since the age of 15.

For those in the hurricane. I'm hoping my apartment is fine (it's in Manhattan) and the building is so old, who knows. But, stay safe and remember - get the toiletpaper when you're old getting bread, water, canned beans and filling your valium rx. Oh wait. that's my list. ;) All joking aside, be safe, I love my native Ny'ers

sorry no link. But the neighbors said that they had lived there since the brother was a baby.

Understood, however there is a very likely chance that a close member of his family was tied to an address in Aurora, 2 miles from the attempt there on the 16th.. thats all. I don't know that he ever made his residence there, but if a family member lived there it stands to reason he would be familiar with the area, and many criminals strike within their comfort zones.

I also believe its possible that he left his touch dna on something of the victims(i brought this up a couple threads back) in that they could have possibly gotten the perps dna from the jogging attempt if say he was to grab something on the victim..like say jacket or clothes in attempting to not let the victim get away..or also in attempting to not let the jogger get away he could have grabbed her wrist or arm and thereby possibly not only touch dna but also a fibgerprint if say she had on a large running watch or an ipod strapped to her arm... These type of examples could have easily yielded one or both touch dna or partial or full print from the perp..

Therefor when the cross and remains were found as well as the backpack they would have collected touch dna or prints from ARS and thereby compared them to the dna or prints from the jogging attempt and it proved as a match..

2010 too? What did I miss?

Also, awesome cutaways of the house! Thanks for doing those. I know you said you're still learning that software, but seems to me you're learning it very quickly and doing a great job. I appreciate your time and effort! On this and on other maps and such you've posted on other cases.

Jogger assault in 2012 that is connected through DNA to Austin Sigg:

"On May 28, at around 1:15 p.m., a 22-year-old woman was running on a trail around Ketner Lake when she said a man tried to grab her from behind, police said. The woman said he tried to put a rag over her mouth that had a chemical smell. She was able to get away and call 911. "

Jogger assault in 2010 that is not yet connected to Austin Sigg:

"Police said they were concerned that a jogger was chased by a man in the same area in July 2010. The suspect described in 2010 was similar to the case from this year, but authorities are not saying that the 2010 case was related to Ridgeway.

"We're still concerned about the 2010 case, but at this time, we're not able to make a definite connection one way or another," Materasso said today. "We don't make a connection lightly."

Thanks, quite right ... I'm not actually learning the software, but I need to practice, so practicing on crime scenes is a bit of a hobby.

I've got my fingers crossed that some new charges might be added tomorrow. What a bombshell that would be!

I AGREE! I know in the schools my kids went to (Chicago and NYC), there are anti-bullying programs, classes and severe punishment to anyone who participates in bullying. Not to say it doesn't still go on but they really try hard. However, where we live now (safe suburbia, my 🤬🤬🤬) has no anti-bullying programs and my youngest has been more than taunted. I called to complain and was told "we have 700 plus students, your son is one of, we can't keep track of all of them and their complaints.". Well, this tattooed beast of a mother showed up and proved these kids aren't just a damn number. I was appalled that was even said to me. anyway..sorry so off topic.

@AstroKitty.....I'm sorry to hear the grief you, your kids went through...I think a well thought gameplan for social services in a school district or system would work...these professionals tend to be more centered on helping than some school faculty tend to be more interested in cranking out diplomas like McDonalds does Happy Meals...

Being a science guy, Sigg probably soaked the rag in ether to knock the victim unconscious...If I'm LE, I'd be looking for ether viles, bottles....

To add to the above posts regarding droppi g the rag I, too had pondered that but my reason for dismissing it was that I felt that if they had the rag there would be so much more known that would have led to his id.. They would have known without a doubt exactly what substance was being used on the rag..this is what led to my dismissing it and admittedly they may know but moo is that they do not..

BBM: RE the cross

While things are relatively quiet here, if anybody would like to go back to our discussion 10/26 abt the cross, it's located in Thread#21. My first post is on Page 8, Post#179. I believe my 2nd post on subject is Post #215. At any rate, I believe most of the posts were on Pages 8-10.

I am hopeful that tomorrow's Ct. Day will bring us something new to talk about. (:

For all you sleuths out there with a healthy curiosity about this horrible crime, and other horrible crimes, try this link, maybe someone with time can see some similarities to Sigg and his immediate area...

The NYPD has the largest Cold Case Squad in the country, the next largest is in Los Angeles.

- There are just under 9,000 unsolved murders in New York since 1985.
- Los Angeles, the next largest city in America, had 8,000 from 1960 to 2004.
- For comparison, Fairfax, VA, has 75 going back to 1964.

I was thinking :waitasec: .... that perhaps during her struggle to get away from AS the jogger not only noticed his cross but also perhaps touched/grabbed at it .... thereby leaving her DNA on it ... so that when it was found at dear Jessicca's crime scene it not only had his DNA on it but hers as well ....thereby linking all 3....

(and she could also have documented seeing him wearing it during the attack ...... )

Maybe Sigg wanted to perform his own funerary services and placed his cross with Jessica. I think he had an idealized concept of the mortician/funeral director, and in his version he became an active participant in someone's death and not a passive observer. I think he wanted to see someone die and then give them their last rites. Whenever I saw those photos of him wearing the cross, it seemed to me that he was acting like a priest. JMO. I still have to wonder if he hung out at the cemetery and if he showed up at the funerals of strangers.

I too wish that more schools not only implemented anti bullying policies, but more importantly that they actually followed thru with ensuring that the policies were enforced.. I was lireally paying $1500.00 per month(which I understand is considerably lower than other parts of the country) for private school that supposedly had this excellent, well enforced anti bullying policy among other positive influences and opportunities..

Yea right.. I was basically paying to have my child bullied and quickly learned that not only were their policies NOT ENFORCED, BUT ACTUAL TEACHERS, STAFF WERE NOT ONLY ALLOWING IT BUT ENCOURAGING THE BS!

BEAST OF A MOTHER PROBABLY IS THE KINDEST THING THEY CALLED ME ONCE I'D HAD MY FILL AND MARCHED UP THERE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS PICKING THEM OFF ONE BY ONE AS I CALLED THEM OUT ON THEIR BS..

what a waste of money nightmare those couple years ended up being:furious:..and to think they sell themselves on being top of the line in every category..yea right!

Do we know when AS's house was questioned during the blanket of the neighborhood?

The reason I ask is that in this article it states:

Even Austin Sigg was questioned by police, according to 9News, which reported that he let them in the house to look for the girl.

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_2...d-mom-suspect-austin?source=pkg#ixzz2AiWSxDN2

I wonder if her body was even in the house at the time of this search? If so, he was taking a pretty strong risk (if they had ANY idea at the time) of being revealed during this search. Yet he willingly let them in the house...

Either they had NO CLUE at the time, or I think her body wasn't at his house...YET. I think he went back to the scene of the dismemberment AFTER his house was searched and brought back his trophies. :furious:

Thx ... I would rather think that Jessica died quickly ... I think we all would rather believe that. However, I'm not entirely convinced, especially since he spent months fantasizing about abducting someone (we know he tried in May 2012, and may also have tried in 2010). We also know that he had an obsession with pornograpy.

Here's a cutaway of the basement of the house. The house is a four level split, so the main floor is the living room, dining room and kitchen (front entrance to the house). Upstairs, there are three bedroom, the main bathroom, and possibly a 1/2 bath in the master bedroom. I've approximated the locations of stairs and doors. Going down one flight of stairs leads to the garage level. This is where there probably is another 1/2 bath. There must be a door connecting the garage to the house interior on this level. There is one more set of stairs going down. This is where the furnace and hot water tank would be, and perhaps also some of the swimming pool system. There is 625 square feet of living space in the basement, but officially only a small portion of that is developed. I think that it's possible that Austin had a bedroom in that basement, or that he spent time there. There is a small, 3 foot high door from that basement area to the crawl space, which is underneath the garage. The height of that space would be about 4 feet. It's possible that Austin had plastic sheeting on the ground in the crawl space.

I'm wondering if th epool was full, did he drown her? Or hold her head down in the water from the pool's ledge?
