At that point, I went back to the words I remember reading via MSM & pressers. Not Intact, dismembered. Phrases like they knew what they were doing. I guess I don't want to imagine what his twisted mind thought from there to do to her. Just sick. I would think it's either her organs removed or body parts he wanted for himself or wanted to hide to hide evidence. I think he was so far on the edge that he was watched by even his family many times. Oh my.

I suspect that it was all over before it hit the news. She was kidnapped 8:25 AM Oct 5, backpack found late Saturday night at 1:30 AM Oct 7, torso found 1:30 PM Oct 10. Remains found in Austin's crawl space 7:45 PM Oct 24.

In the afternoon on Oct 5, he would have had to pick up his brother from school, and his mother may have needed that vehicle at some time. Other than disposing of the evidence, it was probably over by the time Jessica's mother woke up. Austin most likely had to be home with family around the same time. I think the evidence was in the basement, and Austin was thinking about what to do with the evidence when police narrowed the search and he couldn't get out from under it anymore ... especially after the voluntary DNA tactic. Between the murder and his confession, he had disposed of some of the remains ... two trips ... 6 miles North and South of where he lives, and he lived right next to the place where the jogger was attacked. He put a bull's eye on his head because he most likely murdered her in his mother's house.

Was the Jeep the only vehicle for the family? I thought about it being the only family vehicle due to mom's financial troubles. Was it the only one for sure in the household? tia

The boat and motorhome were sold earlier in the year. I doubt that Austin's mom gave him that jeep, and I doubt he worked for it ... so that only leaves ... he may have been driving his mom's car when he abducted Jessica. If there was more than one vehicle at the home, wouldn't we have seen it being towed away?

I think that there was the only one vehicle, and it didn't belong to the 17 year old.

I have read that head, hands, and feet were what was missing. I don't know what was found at the house. I don't think they have released that. And I can't imagine why those were missing except for identification. And I can't imagine he was so sloppy as to leaving dna on the backpack. It seems to me he was interrupted or he got to a point and didn't know what to do. I think he panicked and that is why he confessed to his mother. The crime he committed was deplorable, but he still is a child mentally. Dumping a torso and keeping parts at his home makes no sense. jmo

The head/hands/feet missing, and the theory that only her torso was found? I've seen here, but I haven't seen it anywhere else. All I've seen reported is that she was "not intact." I might've missed something though.

When Sigg was arrested, on October 24, police were still looking for the crime scene. After he was arrested, we haven't heard any more about it ... just like we didn't hear any more about a search for clothing after the backpack was discovered. They told us to forget about what she was wearing and focus on her facial features. In this case, they put the tip line on answering service.

They searched the house, found DNA remnants and human remains ... and heaps of other evidence. The transfer out of juvenile court will likely be challenged because it seriously impacts the sentence. Other than that, he has confessed, so it's really only a matter of sentencing ... isn't it?

For the family, it is important that her remains are returned to them. For investigators, they have all the evidence they need for a conviction. The justice system in Colorado seems to work, so I'm guessing Austin will never again see the light of day without it being blocked by concrete walls and solitude.

Just my ramblings and opinion/guesses here ...

I keep thinking of the psychological disorders that feature a lack of all empathy as one of their symptoms - AS certainly displays no empathy whatsoever throughout his horrible deeds in this case. I have it in my head that he just wanted to do this for the experience or thrill, and maybe notoriety or to prove something to others, without even considering any consequences - or at least thinking that he was too clever to be discovered.

I think his victim meant so little to him, and was objectified to such an extent, that he was probably very surprised at both the public's and LE's outcry and involvement in the search for Jessica, and then in turn hunt for him. He probably still thinks he is clever enough to outsmart the courts too.

And yes I am not getting the connection between the catdoor/vent or any other surmising about the layout of the house. I think LE probably know where the relevant crime scenes are, or wouldn't we be aware of ongoing searches at other sites? To me it doesn't seem important whether it happened in his basement/bedroom/bathroom/garage - AS obviously had the privacy and time he needed - it wouldn't be unusual for him to have his own room or part of the house that was considered his "man cave" that his family would have stayed away from. My own younger teen doesn't want me in his room most of the time because he knows I will just start nagging about the mess - so I actually don't venture in too often.

IMO, AS is a psychopath! The only part that throws me a little bit is that he supposedly confessed to his mother, first. Maybe she found something suspicous in the home or vehicle and proceeded to question him about it. And/or his actions and whereabouts at certain times may have seemed suspect to her.

There were no missing hands, head and feet. That is a wild rumor based on speculation about what "not intact" meant. There is nothing more to it.

NA probably means that he didn't own a vehicle. There could be separate paperwork for confiscating the mom's car.

Isn't it possible that moms vehicle was already at the police station where she was with Austin at the time they started the investigation on the house?? What if RS bought him the jeep?? Just my ideas...

I can't even imagine knowing your son killed someone, much less a little girl and then dismembered her. I can't imagine how his mother felt when she was suspicious enough to question him. How horrifying. And I can't imagine the stares and whispers she gets going out in public knowing that she's the mother of a one time community hunted murderer. My heart breaks for her

I have chosen not to have human children, and I do consider my cat my child. I left my husband because after I had adopted Harry (cat) (with his knowledge and blessing, I might add!) my father-in-law decided that animals were not allowed to live in the condo we were renting from him, and my husband refused to move to a place where pets were welcome. So I found my own place to live with Harry. I would no more have returned him to the shelter than I would have abandoned a child for the convenience of living in a property that happened not to allow children. (I don't know how common this is, but yes, my friend's landlord is one who does not rent to tenants with children or pets - so I'm not making that up lol.) I take my responsibilities as far as caring for him very very seriously; it just so happens that there are different behaviors required to care for a human versus a cat lol. I truly believe that when I brought him into my home, I took on the awesome responsibility of making his life as rich as it can be. When I make my work and social schedules, I consider his needs, not just food and water and cleaning out the litter box, but his emotional needs (eg., stress level, loneliness, etc.) as well. I hope that no one feels offended by this. Everything is just MOO and my personal experience.

I've seen many cats traumatized when they lose their "furever" homes and wind up in rescue because of a new boyfriend, new job, new apartment, etc.

If there is a trial, there will be info that we don't know about, but it won't be from his juvenile record, I don't think

Hi all. I live just less than a mile from both Jessica's house and the perp's house, and I just wanted to thank you all for the discussion here. This has been a difficult time in our community for sure, but it's comforting to know how many others care about this case. I have been lurking here for a couple weeks but just registered yesterday. I've been afraid that people will begin to forget this case once the news dries up (gag order, time between court dates, etc.), but I am encouraged that there are forums like this one that are keeping the case current and on our minds. I'll try to contribute if I can, especially in regards to anything that would be considered "local" knowledge. Thanks.
