did he just say he dressed her in her cheerleader outfit?

Yes, nursebeeme, which would indicate that he had been stalking and fantasizing about her prior to her abduction/murder, imo.. Preplanned/premeditated and not impulsive, imo..

Critical. Austin Sigg NOT eligible for parole after 40 years based on sentence handed down today. #9news

All sentences were consecutive, rather than concurrent from what I understood.
'Justice for Jessica Ridgeway'!!..

I certainly hope this can some how bring SOME sort of comfort to Jessica's family. God bless them and may Jessica RIP.

And as much as it pains me to say, I also hope God watches over the family and friends of Austin. While we may never understand the sickness and evil that consumes that young man, I would never wish the pain and suffering of his mother, father, siblings etc. on my worst enemy.

And although I feel no sympathy for Austin in his actions, I certainly hope he spends each and every day thinking about his what he has taken from this earth and why he gets to spend his days rotting in a cell, hopefully alone, for the rest of his natural life.

What a heartbreaking day for everyone involved, but in the end, justice prevailed.

Bless you Jessica - fly with the angels sweet baby girl.

Yes, consecutive. He is eligible for parole on the murder conviction after 40 years, but he still would have to complete all the other sentences. Basically, he is fked. And I could not be more pleased.

And I don't recall that ever being mentioned when the back pack was found. No one said that he cheerleader outfit was missing from he back pack. I don't guess that is important at this point though. jmo

It was mentioned yesterday that the shirt and shorts belonged to AS. At least that was what he told police.

nursebeeme, thought I heard him say that AS dressed her in a black outfit to simulate her wearing her cheer leading outfit.. My audio isn't that great, so I may be mistaken. Guess, we will know for sure once the transcripts are released..

JMO, tragically AS, may have filmed the entire assault for reliving it..

judge just said that he expects sigg (consecutive charges) will spend the rest of his natural life in prison

Yes, praise all that is good and fair.

His Honor was giving him life -- which was his intent, I am confident -- without going against the US Supreme Court ruling. So Sigg will NOT get a review of a LWOP sentence since he wasn't given one.<smirk> So clever and obvious, too. Yes, this judge didn't miss a trick.

And yes, nurse of us all, he said it himself, lest someone who got lost in the math missed it!!

Quick aside: I just heard the prosecutions presentation from this morning. This is my kind of prosecutor. What a class act. Bravo.

Can't quite get the 7news stream to start up, any other links?

Is it just a coincidence that Jessica was a cheerleader, and Sigg dressed her one? Is there any possibility that he saw her sometime before the murder in her uniform, and picked her out as a victim? Or maybe when he saw her walking that morning, he remembered that he had seen had her before? It's more likely that it was completely random, but it makes me wonder.

I feel like it was stated yesterday that he watched the elementary kids walk to school in the morning. I got the impression that he had done it on other days, not just the day he abducted Jessica.

Also, it was explicitly stated that after the failed Ketner attack, he recognized that he needed a smaller victim. (This was speculated here on Websleuths last year when we started putting two and two together with the Ketner attack, but before LE had confirmed the DNA link.) I don't know specifically what this says about his pathology, except that he was not initially targeting a child. I guess I don't think Jessica was specifically stalked, I think she was a target of opportunity.

Er: Edit for clarity. I only watched yesterday's testimony, not very up to date on today's. YESTERDAY it sounded like he dressed her in HER cheerleading uniform, so I was left the impression that it had been in her backpack when she was abducted. But that was not spelled out.

IINM, I seem to remember that Sigg said he found an old pair of his pants and a white shirt -- which were the colors of the team that the cheerleaders wore -- and had those with him when he kidnapped little Jessica. So that much was premeditated -- he was trolling in his sliminess for someone young. Grrrrr.
