Not if they left the bag off Saturday night/Sunday morning. Depends on how the bag got where it was found. I do not believe that an innocent citizen would put it there and not tell police after all of this.

Yes, only if you have ID. I'd imagine also if the secretary or teacher or principal recognizes you as that child's parent or as someone who has been given written permission by the parent to pick up that child. Not many people are coming in the middle of the day to pick up kids, of course.

School paperwork includes a sheet on which parents indicate other adults who have permission to pick up the child from school, and I'd imagine those adults also would just need to show ID. (Not sure 'cause although I did pick up my niece after school at a nearby Jeffco school this week, they weren't checking IDs after school.)

Once school is released, I don't think they'll enforce the ID rule, because they'll divert LE to monitor school release.

Two separate sightings makes for a positive outlook, I think. Crossing my fingers they catch up with the Buick.

In my day (yes I am old,lol) they were called fender skirts.

I'm thinking the vehicle might be an older model Buick Century Estate Wagon that has been customized with fender skirts. Maybe similar to this but with fender skirts.

there was a link, iirc, in thread 2, that intimated that dogs went from the backpack toward the local ES and back. At that point I put it on the case map which is in the opening post. I would have to dig back in thread two to find the link.

I remember that. I wonder about boats or container ships that may leave out of Maine. Possible kids are being sold and shipped over seas to other countries in some kind of human trafficking ring.

It is just so out of the way for me to feel like this is the case. When people run from police here in CO, they go to Mexico.

Don't know if they check for either. You do need ID for children and if traveling alone with a child, Canada is suppose to require a letter from the other parent granting permission. Have yet to be asked for that letter though, and I have crossed in 2 different spots in Michigan numerous times.

If I remember correctly you would need the childs birth certificate.

I live in N,B. which is where they would come into Canada from Maine. Anytime I come across they request your passport,both going and coming. I have been sharing this on my facebook since the day it happened, so hopefully people are aware here.

Yes, I know. But the description said it was just the rear wheels that possibly had a skirt, not the entire side of the car. That makes me think there was something distinctive about the back of the car, and perhaps it was actually a station wagon but the eyewitness didn't get a clear enough view of it. The description was also given by a child (I assume) who might not know the difference between a sedan and a station wagon.

I'm just saying, there aren't too many blue mid-90's model cars on the road. It seems like quite a coincidence.

Why do I remember the first description of this car being dark/royal blue?

And my sister has an old blue Buick...I do think there are a lot out there

This is how easy it is to get to Maine from the Denver area. I80 to Chicago, I90 to Massachusetts, I495 to I95. Dexter's a few miles off I95 -- kind of the middle of nowhere. Long drive but all interstate, and most of the way you can drive well over the speed limit.

edited to add: As for why Maine? This is a common route for fugitives to take. I don't know why. Maybe they think they can hide out in the wilderness or something.

Some of them are just following the interstate to where it ends, figuring they'll cross into Canada and be free -- not realizing that "Canada" is a very large country with a good police force of its own. I'm sure the RCMP are all over this possibility.

If you keep following the Canadian highways after you cross over, you get to Halifax. Halifax airport has flights to just about anywhere. You can also get a variety of sea transportation here, and there are rumors that more than one child pornography ring runs through Halifax.

The places where the possible sightings took place don't fit with heading to Canada, though. It sounds like the person must have some connection to the area -- family maybe.

Maine is coastal on its eastern side.If it is this kidnapper It's possible they could be heading to the water (boats?)
