Does anybody have any info about the dogs following a scent back to a school and where that took place? The backpack being dropped at a school and ending up in Superior only makes sense to me if It was a Superior school that the scent came back to.

Our school has MOST doors locked but the main door by the office is not locked.

IMO, he would have dropped the backpack off outside the school building, like the parking area.

ETA: Sorry I didn't answer your question about the school - it was Superior, as others have already answered. I would post the map if I had time to look for it. I remember that the dogs tracked to the school there and back to the neighborhood where the backpack was found. My point above is that I don't think the perp would've taken the backpack inside the school, but left it outside to be found later in the day.

o/t ~ When I first saw you, I thought OneLostGrl changed her name. Do you know of OLG? Anyway, a long time ago, we were discussing a case that was going round and round with different theories. All of a sudden OLG posted, "I have no clue". For some reason, due to the way the posts unfolded, her comment sent me into a laughing fit. Now, every time I see you, I think back to that time.

Another one I like is 'okay then'.

OLG has a cute moniker, too!

IHAVENOCLUE comes from a college friend of mine who told me she didn't know an answer on an exam... And instead of BSing her way thru it she just wrote... I have no clue!

this cracked me up, and stuck with me!

I loved her chutzpah and cheekiness.

I imagine the professor actually appreciated it rather than having to read pages and pages of nothing!

:D

there was a link, iirc, in thread 2, that intimated that dogs went from the backpack toward the local ES and back. At that point I put it on the case map which is in the opening post. I would have to dig back in thread two to find the link.

Kevin Torres - 9 News

A dozen investigators including 4 FBI on scene now. 1:03 found backpack by grey house. Man didn't know it was connected till he looked inside & saw things with her name. 20 minutes later, he contacted police. Two bloodhounds were in area. They left. Fewer officers on scene now. Helicopter hovering, maybe JeffCo. Will bring in heavy duty lights to use on the street tonight. Bloodhound went toward Superior elementary school, then back to that area.

Video from 9News at 5

I was watching the live broadcast for this at the time I posted. Towards the beginning ofthe video Torres references the bloodhounds going down S Indiana. Just before the 4:00 minute mark, they reference the bloodhounds going down to the school and back.

If that's what the car looked like then this in not an organized child abduction and trafficking ring. That is probably the dumbest vehicle possible to choose because it is so unusual looking and easily identifiable.

This worries me because that means the child is likely going to be killed and hidden in the woods. A person who took her and has that car, even if they get rid of the car will be easily identified.

The only hope is to claim innocence and pretend you have nothing to do with it.

You're welcome. I like to help, & I'm linky. :D

One more:

In book bag found stuff that could be Jessica's; one item was a water bottle. Right now bloodhound searching area. News conference at 5. When he saw book bag, saw her name on stuff, emailed police at 1:23 PM per 9News right now. Bloodhound sniffed backpack & contents. Approx Andrews & Christenson.

Two separate sightings makes for a positive outlook, I think. Crossing my fingers they catch up with the Buick.

Salem

I'm not quite convinced there were two sightings, since the one report stated the woman who had the sighting was from Harmony, but she saw the vehicle in Dexter. Add to that there is only a description of one sighting.....didn't say exactly where, but the girl never got out of the car.
.***Add to that one of the reports came from KDVR that totally botched the reporting of the family's presser yesterday. Real leary of them now!

Hope some reporter can get this all straightened out. If there were two sightings....I'd like the times, where and by whom (not names) for each sighting.

So frustrated with the reporting these days.... :steamed:

Why do I remember the first description of this car being dark/royal blue?

And my sister has an old blue Buick...I do think there are a lot out there

Royal blue is a pretty noticeable car of any type, especially an old one. Not a great car for nefarious activities. I remember seeing royal blue as well.

Or, she was taken out of Colorado on a private plane and is now in a car?

My thoughts too. Alot of private planes in Colorado with all the ranches. I've also wondered about all the areas just outside of the city and burbs...in the higher elevations. Someone living up there...off the beaten path who doesn't care for too much civilization.

I thought the vehicle was supposedly a 90's model? Or was that the candy napper? Now I'm confused.

The reported sightings of Jessica Ridgeway in multiple states and as far away as Maine, illustrates the power of awareness due to MS Media and the internet. In the case of the Maine sighting, it was due to a web search.

http://www.kktv.com/news/headlines/Possible-Jessica-Ridgeway-Sighting-in-Maine-173523921.html

According to Dexter Main Police Sergeant Alan Ginnell, a woman claimed she saw a girl that looked like Jessica at about 4 p.m. on Sunday in Dexter, about 30 miles northwest of Bangor, Maine.
The woman said the girl was in a light blue Buick with Colorado license plates. The car had roof racks but she did not see the license plate number.

The woman who called police said she did not know about the missing girl investigation until Tuesday when she was surfing the internet and saw the information about the search for Jessica.
