CAVE I think is run by Michelle Bart. I'm familiar with her from the Caylee Anthony case, and that's all I wish to say lol. It seems dateline did do a bit on her-see post #532. I've just listened to the tape that the sheriff made while interviewing Cliff Porter about the horrible comments he made about Kara's case, and her father. It hasn't been easy since I had to listen on my phone, but the detective made comments about the case to his peers, that he was sick of the "effing" craziness, and wanted to tell the father that Kara's case was a cold case and it was being shelved. He was resentful of the media blitzes that apparently resulted in more work for him, and admitted he didn't follow through. :( Here is the actual interview. PS Prepare yourself to want to slap Cliff Porter. Oh, the poor Nichols! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hQYky0LVH4

Margarita, I totally agree with you. In spite of the fact that Kara's lifestyle put her in danger, I don't think it necessarily had anything to do with her disappearance. If she indeed had a gig in Denver, she would have needed her purse, phone, etc. I think she met her fate either at the apt. or close to it. It may be that she overdosed, and someone panicked. Since her cell phone pinged north of the Springs the night she disappeared, I feel she's probably somewhere in between the Springs and say, Castle Rock. While we would assume that the police did the basics, they've certainly dropped the ball in other areas. I had no idea corruption was so rampant in their police force.

I think an overdose/panic/coverup scenario is indeed a possibility, Spammie.

Last night I had what seemed like an important thought about Kara's case imo, and now I can't remember it. Hopefully it'll come back to me.:waitasec:

eta: I think I remembered it, but seems like a silly idea idea now, lol. I was thinking about the possibility of a bad dose of something, and to see if maybe there are any msm articles about a bad batch og heroine or something out during that time in the Denver area. Maybe someone else received some of the bad batch? Total needle in a haystack and shot in the dark. Nevermind

I can't believe there's been absolutely nothing in over a year since Kara vanished. I mean, did LE just completely give up? What ever became of the other woman who was stated to be a POI? Did LE simply give up looking for her, too? At the time, it seemed as though they were quite certain she'd lead them to whatever happened to Kara... God, for some reason this case has always really bothered me so much. Someone or some group is getting away Scot-free... Hopefully it doesn't stay that way for much longer. Ugh! Oh poor Kara...

What about Sigg...the timing....I never thought about this before, until now...probably having bad flashbacks, but in hindsight, the timing...

I never got the sense that Sigg ventured too far from his hovel nor that he could actually lure a woman in any way, given how he abducted Jessica and attacked the woman at the lake. Can you think of a scenario where Sigg and Kara may have crossed paths, Margarita? I don't recall if Sigg had any significant Internet dealings where maybe he could have set up a meet with Kara. Who knows? Maybe he just happened to drive by her on the street at some ill-fated moment.

I have been thinking a lot about Kara recently. I still check through back page and run image searches to see if her pics are being used.

Where are you, Kara?

I can't believe Kara hasn't been found. So sad.

Happy birthday, Kara.

After reading up on the West Mesa case in New Mexico, I cant help but think of Syllania Edwards who was working in Colorado and ended up in New Mexico after being lured by older prostitutes. There must be an underground network of these young women being exploited in that area. First come the drugs then the sex trade. So sad to read about Kara. She is a relative of a friend from Chicago.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Four years after the disappearance of then 19-year-old Kara Nichols, a family still holds out hope as tips continue to pour in.

Nichols, who attempted to spark her modeling career at age 19, told her friends she would be traveling from Colorado Springs to Denver for a photo shoot in 2012 on Oct. 9.

She wouldn't be seen again by her family, or friends. Four years later, her family said they still have hope that their daughter will be found in one way or another.

Kara Nichols, an aspiring model, was reported missing on October 9, 2012. At the time of her disappearance, the then 19-year-old was en route from her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she lived with two roommates, to Denver for a modeling shoot. After four years of searching and countless interviews, a Facebook page dedicated to finding Kara indicated in October of 2016, that there may have been a credible lead phoned in around the time of her birthday. The El Paso Sheriff's office has not confirmed any leads, but they are encouraging anyone with information to reach out. They note the case is still considered open and active, but have not said if they believe foul play is involved.

Bump for Kara. I'm really amazed that after all these years there hasn't been a single lead or sighting of Kara since the day she left. It's so sad. I wish LE had more interest in investigating this. To me, it really seems like they could've done much more, especially in the early days. I can only hope there'll be some renewed interest in her case by the powers that be in 2017! Her poor parents - can't even imagine what they've endured.

I do not think she survived that trip to Denver or wherever she was actually driven to

Such a sad case. They really dropped the ball on this, IMHO. I hope she'll be found one day but by now it's hard to imagine that she is still alive imho...

The jury could not come to agreement on charges of extortion, conspiracy to commit extortion and two counts of first-degree official misconduct.
