CO - Kara Nichols, 19, Colorado Springs, 9 Oct 2012, found deceased 2022 *arrest*

Now that it's come to light about her lifestyle I am really worried about her. :(

How many cases have there been about someone sold to slavery that got reunited with their family? And how long are they usually gone for?

I have a question, and I mean no disrespect to Kara.

I know that the sex trade is big and is growing in America. Taking vulnerable girls and forcing them to work as sex slaves. But if someone is willingly participating in prostitution already, would that make them more or less vulnerable to forced sex slavery???

I would think much more, as they would be in contact with some very seedy and dangerous people on a regular basis, be in places another teen girl might not be, etc.

Sad to think that this could be what happened to Kara. I agree with the poster above who said that the family should hire a PI. Someone who isn't afraid to delve into that dark world.

KARA NICHOLS UPDATE: The family of Kara Nichols still today is nowhere closer to knowing where Kara is and what happened to her as they were over four months ago.

The family has asked if you feel like your tips to law enforcement were not acknowledged or feel they were investigated to email your tips into [email protected] and we will collect them and hand deliver them to the investigators on Kara’s case.

The family is working to do some more media in the coming weeks but we need your help getting the word out to your friends and networks; Kara Nichols is missing and someone knows what happened to her. Please call 719-390-5555 to report what you know and do the right thing.

Thank you for your continued support in helping to find our daughter.

Julia and Paul Nichols

Still no news on Kara. So sad, i hope her parents get some news regarding what has happened to their daughter in the very near future.

"It can really happen to anyone," Terry said. "No one wakes up and says, 'I want to be a prostitute, I want to be a drug addict.' I think people think that it's either black or white, right or wrong, but there's so much grey area."

Kara's mother said her family feels terrible guilt for not being able to get their daughter away from that lifestyle.

I have deep compassion for Kara's parents. As we have all said; her life choices and circumstances, don't make her unworthy of an investigation into her disappearance.

My hope is that Kara is still alive. One day, she'll find the courage to leave and go back to her family. I have a wonderful daughter, but for the amazing Grace of God ...

Very interesting article. So sad that in the light of Kara's involement in the sex industry that interviews are being cancelled and interest lost in Kara

I really feel for Kara's parents. They really didn't know that there daughter was involved in drugs and prostitution. How could they? Teenagers are so vunerable and susceptible to the influences around them (ie, friends, rommates, work enviroment)...

Where are you Kara? I just hope you come home safely intothe loving arms of your parents sometime soon, i really do..

I doubt that is the reason. More likely the story is old now and nothing more is happening. No news doesn't get reported.

Kara has been on my mind when reading about young girls being brought to New Orleans for Super Bowl and Mardi Gras. There was a sting the week before Super Bowl with many getting arrested and young girls rescued that had been trafficked. Makes me wonder if Kara was/is in New Orleans?!?

Praying her family finds answers!! :please:

Those sorts of claims are allways made before any large sporting event, but they are usually vastly exaggerated.

They were saying the same thing before the olympics here, claiming that 10000 girls were being shipped in, but guess what, it didn't happen, there was no change in the numbers advertising.

I'm not sure why those sorts of claims are made, I'm guessing that there are individuals and organizations that use the allegations as a fund raising tool, so it is profitable to do so.

I think those numbers are thrown out for sort of advertising purposes for these organizations. The Super Bowl is a huge event, and anything connected to it will get coverage. It's hard to get people to really pay attention to the issue of sex trafficking, so maybe this is their way of getting their voice heard. Can't say I blame them.

KARA NICHOLS UPDATES:
The family of Kara Nichols is approaching five months since they have seen Kara and sadly they are no closer to finding her whereabouts or what has happened to her but maybe there is hope on the horizon…

After doing many media interviews and not seeing anything arise from hundreds of tips, the family voiced their concerns; we’re pleased to say that after communication with Chief Harmon today the parents of Kara are feeling more optimistic following their conversation with him.

A new detective has also been assigned to Kara’s case. The new detective has recruited a volunteer task force to help investigate many documents that have come from tips as well as Kara’s Facebook activity; this is one of the best things we have heard since October because Kara was very active on the Internet and we hope that some of what the task force finds will lead to more answers of what happened to Kara.

"We want to say a heartfelt thank you to all the people who have shown us so much care and concern about our daughter. It means so much to know that we are not alone in our search for Kara. The kindness of friends and strangers alike gives us strength and faith.” – Paul and Julia Nichols

Now reading Kara's fb page I see that there is another girl missing in Colorado with links to Model Mayham.

Raven was last seen in the company of two women, one a teenager and one an adult. Apparently they were meeting a man called Calleb. Very interesting and could be connected to Kara?

Of course, anything is possible, but I don't believe them to be connected. I think LE has a good idea of what happened to Kelsie and I don't think it's modeling related. I don't even see that MM has anything to do with Kara being missing, other than she may have met some shady characters there. I'm still not convinced she left that apartment alive. It sounds to me like Raven and her friends may be runaways. If Raven is linked to escort services, then I may change my mind. But I think that it's just a coincidence these girls had modeling portfolios.

Where I see a connection to Kara is that both sound very willing to
"explore many different types/styles of modeling. " and thus sound vulnerable - so IMO someone could be targeting naive young gals on MM.

Thanks, Steve. Of course it's possible, these girls probably have no idea how many people there are who would love to exploit them. I think it's fishy that Kara supposedly left for a trip to Denver without her purse, money, etc. And it sounds as though Raven is with a whole carload of people (I've read from 1 to 3)and is a runaway who absconded with her mom's car. I'm not negating the danger these ladies could be in. I hope they're found quickly because it's a dangerous world out there. FWIW, I think the biggest clue in Kara's case is whoever gave out seemingly false info about her attending a nonexistant rave.

I would say MORE only because NO ONE looks for these girls!

IMO People are all in all, less judgmental than we give them credit for. I saw a lot of compassion for Paige Birgfeld when she was missing, even though she was also an escort. I think that if you want to have a lot of media coverage, you have to make friends with the media, and be truthful with them. I don't think you can turn down Anderson Cooper for any reason, and then blame the media for not airing your story. I think that almost everyone on here would do their best to sleuth this case and indeed have, with the information given. People here did uncover a whole other world, in fact. There is just precious little info given to the public in this case, and it's come in bursts and spurts, sometimes months apart. MOO

How do you make friends with the media if they won't cover your child's case in the first place? I don't think becoming best friends with some big-name national reporter, some hotspot producer, or a network executive is easy to do...at all. And I think that keeping a friendship with someone in the national media, so they will still talk about your child's case months or years later is pretty much impossible. (Local media might be a bit easier to do).

Article featuring Kara as well as Kelsie Schelling and Raven Cassidy Furlong:

Model Mayhem has allegedly been linked to the disappearances of at least 13 women, according to Michelle Bart, president of the National Women's Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation, which is now representing Raven and Kara's families.

"We feel there's an epidemic of young women being preyed upon on this site and it needs to be seriously investigated," says Bart, who points out the Better Business Bureau rated the site an F.

Model Mayhem could play a part but it could also just as easily be Facebook, Craigslist, Westword, an escort site like those that have been discussed here, word of mouth.... And, if these disappearances are linked, the people luring these women could be placing ads on multiple sites in their attempts to find victims. I don't necessarily think they would just stick to Model Mayhem.
