Missing mom moved to Colorado for love of man now accused of her murder: report

New details are emerging in the case of a missing Colorado mom who police suspect was killed by her fiance around Thanksgiving.

Indeed, a cousin of 29-year old Kelsey Berreth tells Fox News that Berreth, a flight instructor, moved from Washington to Colorado for love of the man now accused of her murder.

The cousin, JoDee Garretson, says Berreth met 31-year-old cattle rancher Patrick Frazee online in early 2016, and moved from Warden, Washington, a few months later to be closer to him. They were ultimately engaged and while they lived in separate homes about 15 miles apart, they shared custody of a 1-year-old daughter, Kaylee.

Authorities have served multiple search warrants, processed numerous items, and conducted dozens of interviews. The evidence includes cellphone data, which indicate Berreth's phone was used near Gooding, Idaho, some 800 miles from her home.

Client of accused killer Patrick Frazee says Kelsey Berreth has vanished and come back before: Report
Frazee is a farrier, someone who cares for equestrian hooves, and worked with Clinton Cline on a herd of donkeys who live free in a protected area in Cripple Creek, Colorado. Cline told People magazine that the day before Frazee was arrested on suspicion of murdering Berreth, he gave Cline a second cell phone number to make sure his client would be able to reach him amid constant communication on his primary phone regarding Berreth’s disappearance.

“He’s very conscientious about his work,” Cline said. “He had the health and the well-being of the donkeys’ interest at heart.”

Cline also suggested Berreth and Frazee, who were engaged, did not have a particularly close relationship at the time of her disappearance on Thanksgiving Day. As has been previously reported, the couple who shared a 1-year-old daughter did not live together, but Cline said in a previous interview with KOAA that Frazee was the child’s primary caretaker, and told People that the nature of his relationship with Berreth means Frazee may not have known right away that Berreth had gone missing.

Further, Cline claimed that Berreth had vanished in the past, only to return. Authorities have not corroborated any of Cline’s claims about Frazee and Berreth’s relationship.

“The custody hearing was scheduled before Berreth went missing, but her parents were added to the case as special respondents earlier this month.

Frazee, 31, refused to answer reporters' questions as sheriffs escorted him back to jail after the hearing.

Frazee's mother filed a motion to intervene in the case, court records show, but it's unclear if she filed a request for custody. Fourteen-month-old Kaylee had been staying with Frazee until he was arrested last Friday on a charges of first-degree murder.“

Kelsey Berreth’s fiancé Patrick Frazee formally charged with murder
Prosecutors on Monday formally filed five counts of murder against the fiancé of missing Woodland Park mother Kelsey Berreth in Teller County District Court, including first degree murder, felony murder and solicitation to commit murder, officials say.

Patrick Frazee, 32, has an 8:30 a.m. hearing scheduled in the court house in Cripple Creek during which he will be formally arraigned on murder charges, said Lee Richards, spokeswoman for Teller County District Court.

He is charged with first-degree murder; three counts of solicitation to commit first-degree murder and first degree felony murder.

The charges indicate that authorities believe Frazee conspired with at least one other person to kill Berreth. The multiple solicitation charges suggest he engaged someone or multiple people to kill Berreth on three occasions.

Woodland Park Police Chief Miles De Young has said investigators recovered enough evidence at Berreth’s home to convince them that is where she was killed.

Court records indicate she was killed on Thanksgiving Day, but the arrest affidavit is sealed and few details are available about the evidence pointing to murder.

BREAKING: Patrick Frazee charged with five murder counts, including THREE solicitation for murder charges
A reporter for KT11 News posted from the Teller County District Courthouse on Monday morning that Patrick Frazee has been charged with five murder counts: two charges of first degree murder and three counts of solicitation to commit murder. The charges indicate that authorities believe Frazee attempted to enlist at least one person, possibly more, in a conspiracy to murder the mother of his 1-year-old daughter.

The post also said that court documents show authorities believe Berreth was killed at her Woodland Park home in the course of an attempted robbery. It is not yet known if investigators believe there were additional people present at the crime scene.

He said two first-degree murder charges were filed under separate theories: deliberation and felony.

“Obviously, there’s only one murder in this case,” May said. “Under Colorado law, we file separate counts under different theories of first-degree murder. We filed under two theories: One is deliberation for murder. And the other is felony murder.”

On or about November 22, 2018, PATRICK FRAZEE unlawfully, feleniously, after deliberation, and with the intent to cause the death of a person other than himself, caused the death of Kelsey Berreth.

COUNT 2 - SOLICITATION TO COMMIT MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE
Between and including September 1, 2018 and November 1, 2018, PATRICK FRAZEE unlawfully and feloniously commanded, induced, entered, or otherwise attempted to persuade another person to commit the felony of murder in the first degree, with intent to promote or facilitate the commission of that crime and under circumstances strongly corroborative of that intent.

COUNT 3-MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE
On or about November 22, 2018, PATRICK FRAZEE unlawfully and feloniously, acting alone or with one or more persons, committed or attempted to commit Robbery and, in the course of or in furtherance of that crime, or in the immediate flight therefrom, the death of Kelsey Berreth, a person, other than one of the participants, was cause by anyone.

COUNT 4-SOLICITATION TO COMMIT MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE
Between and including September 1, 2018 and November 1, 2018, PATRICK FRAZEE unlawfully and feloniously commanded, induced, entered, or otherwise attempted to persuade another person to commit the felony of murder in the first degree, with intent to promote or facilitate the commission of that crime and under circumstances strongly corroborative of that intent.

COUNT 5-SOLICITATION TO COMMIT MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE
