Search dogs are brought in to find living people . They can be thrown off if clothing and other personal items of the missing person are around.. Cadaver dogs are searching specifically for human remains. I am not sure if LE in this particular case used either .

I would expect that the body made atleast part of the trip.

What troubles me a bit, is that I think she had already been dead since some point on Thanksgiving.

Most people don’t like to hold on to a body for that length of time.

So I’m a bit stuck here.
I think she was dead on Thanksgiving as well. It’s possible he left her at her house and went back that night to drive to Idaho and took time to dispose of her and plan his texts and alibi. Maybe he stayed in his truck or camped in the wilderness with the baby, texted on the 25th and came back. I don’t know that he would ask anyone to watch the baby should that be discovered.

Here is what I have determined to be factual based on all the information I have read or listened to about this entire thing and the people involved......

The report of LE executing the search warrant last Friday said they used cadaver dogs.

Mess law enforcement made?? The “ranch” was obviously a disaster before law enforcement came on the scene. Cluttered deck, no fence around the yard, all kinds of stuff sitting in the middle of nowhere and grazed to the ground.
I thought it looked pretty neat & tidy in the drone footage. What do you mean by grazed to the ground? It's the very dry west, the mountains, not a pasture. It looks to me like he keeps his dirt clear of brush which would be typical.

But they’ll never find Susan Powell.

It’s rare that LE gets that lucky.

Or Michelle Parker. I believe her disappearance had to do with custody. That's what I suspect this case is too. jmo

They never found Gloria Berreth. Sadly it can happen.
What a coincidence! I don't believe "Berreth" a common surname and reading Gloria missing since 1994 hits a nerve.

My take on the trash is that if he went through the lengths to go to Idaho for a phone ping and to send texts, he wouldn’t get rid of incriminating trash in the middle of an investigation focusing on him. I’d hope he would not be that stupid, anyway.

I agree with you. But I hope he IS that stupid if he is guilty of disappearing Kelsey. He has to have made mistakes. MOO.

Quite honestly though when dealing with septic tanks and having almost a month go by I am not sure how much would be left of items that may have been thrown in a septic tank. Plastic and metal sure but as far as clothing and that type of thing I think it would be gone by now or pretty close.
My point was really, why bring it back at all?

I think they may have dug there because a dog hit on a dead animal laying there smell from the past.... The hole is very near a cattle/horse pen......jmo

LE digging that area up is interesting. But a HRD K9 would know the difference between human & animal remains. The animal remains would have been ignored. Unless of course a dog alerted in that location.

Something compelled LE to dig there.

What is the motivation for domestic violence? Its just super, out of control, angry people who become enraged and lash out, isn't it?
Yep.
1. Became upset because she wanted full custody. Or change the arrangement and it didn't suit his needs.
2. Became upset because she wanted to move away. She moved to CO to be with him. The relationship had soured over the last year and she realized that she had nothing here but the job. She wanted to move back closer to family.
3. Became upset because she confronted him about something he may have done to K. (Really don't want to have to go here but maybe there was some kind of abuse going on she recently suspected. Either with mom or him.)
4. Any combination of the above.
All above JMO of course.

Yes and Michelle’s parents are still trying to see her children 7years later and I believe he moved away - wonder if a move is going to be next for PF?

I think it very possible PF disposed of some key evidence in the septic tank such as KB's phone....or wallet. iow, something that could be dropped through the hose opening. JMO
KB's townhouse has a fireplace and chimney, which I would think is very common in Teller County. I didn't notice if PF's house had one, but likely it does. He may also have an incinerator, and as a farrier he needs a hearth and anvil? to make horseshoes. I would burn anything to make it really disappear. And 10 days....

why would they dig that close to the house? I don't think he would have buried her that close.
Maybe the dogs hit on that area because a body had been there on the ground days before?

Interesting theory....I did some building permit searching and it looks like some kind of septic work was done on that property back in the late 90s by a previous owner.
That could mean they installed a new septic tank and left the old one. Interesting.

I just wonder if soil samples and vegetation from Colorado and Idaho would differ much if they are looking at these things on his truck.

JMO
If something was dumped at this late in the game on his property then it could be something he had forgotten about and was trying to get rid of. Something like a piece of clothing or a pair of shoes or a tool like a shovel or something along those lines.

So, did anyone witness an old septic tank loaded onto a trailer?
Maybe that is what PF took to the recycling center?
